and had individual TV series?
No.
It's got everything we need already.
And it would need to be Yoda's decision.
No.

And it would need to be Yoda's decision.
I don't think it would hurt.

Are you just saying that cause you would need to change your nickname to Movie&TVGal?

No Jabs, I'm not changing my nickname.
I always thought we should change the "Box Office and Industry" section to TV in all its variations. TV and streaming is more and more commanding new release dollars now.

I think it was in the 2000s when they started calling TV "the new cinema", thanks to the fantastic looking HBO series like Carnivale and Mad Men.
Seems odd to keep it hidden in a sub-forum and combine it with music.
I don't think the name of the site needs to be changed, people will find it because they want to talk about movies.

Should we change this to Movie and TV forums?
NO

I'm not much of a TV watcher, I'm here for the movies, so I'd say no, the subforum suffices for that kind of discussion.
I would however support changing it to the "Movie and Abstract Art Forums", with the proviso that all posters and film screengrabs be abstract paintings. For example, your review of Abbott and Costello Go to Mars could be accompanied by this image.

I would say the main discussion point around here is movies. We discuss other topics, sure, but discussion of them are mainly confined to sub-forums or individual threads.
Yeah, definitely not changing the name of the site. It's almost a quarter-century old and you can't change domain names the way you can just change whatever you put in a logo/header.
I want the focus to stay on movies. There were a few choices like this very early in the site's history, though back then it was more about whether it should care about movies or make a lot of extra room for just kind of goofing around. I chose movies, and we lost some users over it because they were mostly here to just piddle about. A lot of sites went a different route. They're basically all gone now.
I am, however, open to making the TV forum a little more prominent.

Movie and Porn Forums - I'm all for it!
As usual, I will throw my hat in the ring for a vote to change the site over to The Hello Kitty Happy Fun Time Forum. I am sure it will garner the same amount of support as in the past.
Here is my logo idea:

That would be a good idea.
So, we thinking just making it into one of the "top level"/primary forums on the forum home page is a reasonable tweak?

I would say yes. maybe for music as well.

Awesome. Long overdue being tv series are nudging out movies mostly quality wise. You thinking about 86ing the Box Office Discussion?

No. I think we should change the name to Moldy Potatoes! Because rotten tomatoes is already taken of course. Duh!

We could also call it FlikTok! Especially in light of current events.
Let the voting begin! Those who favor Moldy Potatoes and those who favor FlikTok.

Yoda How about we put TV & Music Section a Homepage accesible section (I dont know the terminology), and the Business & Box Office Discusion a subforum within that?

Years and years worth of search engine mojo for the current site title. Absolutely, absolutely no change.
But the English Major over here is fighting a losing battle. But personally it feels to me like "TV" is a term outliving its actual meaning, though not its accepted usefulness from sheer initeria. I watch movies on my TV too. Really, what distinguishes the two formats is that one is intended to be a single episode, a "movie," and another is intended to be multiple episodes, a "serial". Well, it's just the familiar term that we're probably stuck with ... I checked IMDB and RT and Wikipedia and they all use the word TV in some sense. I think "TV Show" is choice inappropriateness these days though, since I watch plenty of serials that will never be broadcast as a "TV show" on an old-style network but dumped weekly or in a lump on a streaming service. And I no longer watch many shows on a "TV" but on my tablet.
Well, it's all useless. I'm sure I'd never get the rest of the world to agree with me. Even though I'm right. :)
I think we should ALL change our names to MovieForums and then have a weekly rotation of the site name alternating weekly between our past names. Yoda.com, Sedai.com, Thief.com, HoldenPike.com...

How about Movies, TV and Streaming forums?
I think Movies and TV are what everyone expects and understands. The pedantic purist in me still feels it really should be Movies and Serials since "TV" is a device and not a format.
Would Streaming be for everyone to comment on what they love/hate about Netflix or Hulu or Tubi (hey, free Superbowl viewing tomorrow)? You can watch Movies and TV (ugh, I mean, Serials) on any streaming platform. So that might just be a separate channel somewhere rather than a top-level forum.
Basically, I'm all for elevating TV/Serials to same visibility as Movies, The times they are a changin', and my TV watching hours are split equally nowadays between Movies and Serials. (Sorry, I just can't let it go.)
Last time I checked, I wasn't paying to keep the lights on around here.
Business & Box Office Discussions last post was 9 days ago. 9 days. It doesnt have sustainable interest but is imporrant to have. Just not on the homepage, let it be TVs subforum
I might, not sure. But for now I just moved TV and Music to the main page.
