View Full Version : The TONGO Report
I think this is my 2nd or 4th time attempting a review thread. First time I would give commentary as I watched, but that meant spoilers. Spoilers are the devils work. The second time was ok except when I would look at my reviews months later and just cringe. Then I would change the ratings I gave. A true shtshow.
Anyway what inspired this is just having bought Gladiator 2 off Amazon Prime. After watching it Ill give a report. For all those that want the opinion of an old school simple minded man like myself, I hope Im deemed readworthy.
Halfway mark.
This is far from flawless. The computer animation is painfully phony looking when dealing with the animals. Also wished they left the two movies storylines completely seperate. Some great performances, and the CGI does redeem itself in the war scenes. Damn those animals looked sad though.
Crowe had more presence than Mescal & Pascal (that sounds like a law firm), and such charisma is missed. Some bad to great stuff here, but those thinking it will suplant the original, just relax. Its placements safe.
Lets see if the second half is better....
This movie was Ridley Scotts Godfather 3. A sequel that didnt have to be made, but has entertaining moments, many cringeworthy ones, and a storyline that degenerates to the point of embarrasment.
Is this movie worth $25? NO, but not completely worthless. See it if you must, but only on a stream.
Now having read so many reviews scathing this movie, I may have come across too gently. Need to do this in a different order, would have saved $25
Rampart (2011)
Woody Harrelson, Sigourney Weaver, ......and a bunch of stars on Woodys level, great cast yada yada....
Two film analogy - Bad Lieutenant (1992) meets Harsh Times (2005)
7.75 out of 10 stars, solid film.
