I'm surrounded by houses and my place still looks like it's in the middle of nowhere, so no.
I'm in an apartment building, so we don't have trick or treaters.

None so far as usual. Halloween not so great here in England.
I use to live in a village in the middle of nowhere in the countryside and children always went out trick or treating. We use to decorate the front of the house and it was a lot of fun.
Now, where I live is near a town and the first year we lived here I decorated the house as usual and was very surprised when not one person came down the street on Halloween... the next year I just put out pumpkins, again nothing.
So since then I've done nothing for trick or treaters.

There's about 300 units in our 2 building complex, we'll get a lot. The office gives out pumpkin decals to put on the door to those of us giving out the candy.
The boys aren't thrilled with their costumes but they're ready.

I live in a residential area so I usually get like about 30 ppl, there's mostly a few houses on my street that have their porch lights on so it looks dark.

Same. My friend lived on one of those streets that had an insane Halloween presence. I would go over her house, bringing candy to give out to the kids. Sometimes I would dress up. Unfortunately, she and her husband needed a bigger place and they moved. :(

what about in the lobby?
As far as I know, the building isn't doing anything for Halloween in the lobby.
We got around 20+ trick or treaters and we took my son to about as many participating houses. That doesn't sound like much, but it's a huge uptick from the last few years, where we averaged 10-13 for both. Halloween is making a comeback, baby!

We had about one hour (around 5 - 6 pm) when we literally had trick-or-treaters non-stop. It felt like somebody was busing them onto our street. We probably had around 200 kids during that time.
But we had literally nobody before that, and only one kid after that.
The kids that came around were very happy because we give out candy and toys. We spend all summer going to garage sales and flea markets, and we buy as many little toys as we can find.
We buy as many little PVC figures, little action figures, fast food kids' meal toys, etc., that we can get for 10 cents or less. Anything that is a little toy of a character that kids recognize. (Superheroes, Disney, Looney Tunes, Hello Kitty, Spongebob, Pokemon, etc.)
In addition to giving out candy, we always have a basket of toys and a basket of dinosaur figures, and we let each kid pick a toy that they like. Every kid leaves here happy. :)
We probably had somewhere between 700 and 900. Halloween is big in our neighborhood.
No, but only because I had softball playoffs so we didn't do it this year.
In our old house, back in like 2010, we got maybe just a few dozen the first year. After that, we got fewer and fewer, I'm almost positive a couple of years in there we got literally zero.
We moved to a nice, quiet place back in 2021 and the owners who sold it to us came to the closing, and specifically warned us about Halloween there. They told us we'd get 200-300 kids, easy. Basically more than we'd gotten in over a decade combined at the previous house...and they were right. In just 90 minutes we got at least a couple of hundred. Then we got even more (I think) last year. Near the end of the night I got a little worried we were gonna run out.
Obviously the safety of the neighborhood has a lot to do with it. And housing density. Our street is quiet, has very little thru-traffic (there's only one block past us), and it's two long rows of suburban houses on either side of the street. So it's efficient and safe. Close to ideal for young children to Trick or Treat on. And the ones we get are, indeed, disproportionately younger.
Anyway, not a big problem, but it's definitely something we've had to be prepared for! Next year I think we'll go bigger on the candy, too, now that we've got a better sense of it.

We get a dozen or two. The house is on a tiny road off a side road in a small corner of town so the traffic is exceptionally light.
When we go Trick or Treating we know where to take the kiddos. They got a lot of candy last night and they had a ton of fun so it was a success.

I think some of the houses we visited last night were new to the area we went because two or three ran out of candy. It was similar to the neighborhood you described; slow vehicles and ease of house hopping, so the going for candy was nice and convenient. There were a lot of people in the area when we were there and I can't imagine it wasn't popular before and after our excursion.
Before the split, we'd go through a neighborhood in a little town near here where the going was similar. We'd start at one end, and walk to the other end of the really long street, and get a ton of candy. The kiddos liked it, although last night they said they had more fun with my parents and I than they did with their mom and I because my parents walked with us whereas their mom would just sit in the car.

We didn't put anything out so we didn't have any, but when I had to go out about 6.30pm there were more groups of kids, kids/parents than I've ever seen before round here. It looked like that scene in ET, only completely black.
I spent over 20 years trying to make Halloween a thing over here, but it turns out it was the wrong 20 years. :D

We haven't had a trick or treater in about 15 years and this year was no different. Doesn't stop the Missus from buying fun size bags of Peanut M&M's, Almond Joy and Twizzlers.

I think we all know what's going on when we buy candy to give out that we, personally, like, as opposed to just grabbing whatever off the shelf. We've already done the math in our heads.
Oh no, we have leftovers. I guess we'll have to finish them up.

That's why Dia de los Muertos is a way better holiday (imho), not so focused on commercialism.

Not for us. We bought enough candy after Halloween at 75% off to last us at least through Valentines Day. :)
