Introduction

Welcome to my favorite horror movies thread.

I'm glad that I have decided to do this instead of an updated horror list thread. While seeing more horror movies, making the list grow even more with a lot of changes, the plan was to make a 50 horror movies list.

Since plans have changed to make things less stressful while making so many adjustments to the horror list and having other worries about the list. I've decided to make a single thread that shares all my favorite horror movies that I have enjoyed and implement this idea called list post updates.

The point of this idea is so that I can make list changes easier in one single post instead of having to make a whole new thread every time I see more horror movies that weren't on my current list.

I will be updating every so often, giving each horror movie entry something special on why it belongs on here. After a certain number of entries, there will be a post on an updated list and posted in the order on what I enjoyed the most. It's going to be interesting to see how the list grows as I get new list updates.

So these movies that I am about to present to you are all about the horrifying and entertaining journey that was brought to me during the years of horror cinema.

So run, run, run for your lives from the evil presence chasing you.

Instead be the survivor to a brutal bloody night and fight back against the evil presence to end whoever it is once and for all.

If you are up for non-English horror film recommendations, I have a few to share.

I love non-English horror films, some of the Mexican ones from the 50s are really nicely done.

Also, Giallo, naturally, but almost everyone already knows about those.

A cool horror slasher that was made in the 70's and yes it maybe a be a slow burn in the first half of the movie, but at least it builds itself up with Michael stalking his victims and looking for the best time to go in for the kill.

Also, what makes this movie so good is the nice chilling soundtrack playing throughout the movie, it sure grabs my attention and makes me want to see what happens next.

I just find a masked psycho killer stalking and killing babysitters for no apparent reason, somewhat a creepy thing to see. I think John Carpenter did a great job with the film overall and the movie's theme song also.

The film starts off fresh with a few new characters and brings Michael back from the dead by having him wake up in a coma. No Laurie Strode in this movie but they still keep the Myers/Strode family tree stuff in and this time Michael is after his 8-year old Niece, Jamie Lloyd.

I can't tell you how fun it was to nitpick at all the silly and funny things that go on in this film, like how the way Michael looks, it seems like he's wearing shoulders pads, the whole scene near the end when he's killing the redneck lynch mob and a few others stuff. This may be a cheesy film, but still enjoyable to watch.

One of the best things about this movie is the atmosphere, it's got that fall look for sure. The soundtrack from this movie is good also.

I think this was a great follow up film to the original and thought the creators of the movie ignored the rest of the sequels and just start off fresh. The plot may not sound as that plausible with the whole 40 years thing but it’s better than nothing.

Also, I like how they got rid of the Laurie – Michael sibling angle that’s been prancing around in the other movies.

In this movie, we are back to square one where Michael is just this cold-blooded killer with no ties or connections, just killing people on Halloween with no motive and giving you that simple answer on why he does it, because he can.

Imo, I feel that creators did a fantastic job while making this film, giving us a nice experience while watching.

I like how trauma plays a big role in this one with the whole town affected by Michael’s bloody rampage and of course the story is all over the place and some of the characters looked like a bunch of goofballs, with their silly annoying chant “Evil Dies Tonight.”

To me I think it’s supposed to be annoying as it portrays an angry mob that’s out for vengeance for what Michael has done to their town but making foolish decisions that could get themselves or anyone killed.

The ending is one of the most ridiculous endings that I have seen in a horror film. I think the creators of the film put themselves in a corner here, with the next movie it’s the only way they could back themselves out.

2018 gives us the brutal comeback of Michael Myers as an old man that he should be, Kills gives us fan service with a lot of bloody ridiculous carnage and then Ends, things sure hit different.

Instead of recycling the same thing that all the Halloween movies do, in this one, a new kind of evil is introduced to us while Michael is sidelined thought out the movie.

I don’t mind this because when they do show him, we know what he’s going through. His days are almost up, with him getting old and his body is weakened from the beatings he endured from the last two movies, the consequences for his actions are finally catching up to him. I like how we got a good satisfying ending to the movie as well, no cop out bs for sure.

Horror Comedy is another favorite horror sub-genre of mines, unlike this film it shows a mixture of both genres. The movie kicks off with vampires terrorizing this seaside carnival while the opening theme song playing in the background.

They also play it throughout the movie and it can get a bit annoying for a while but I guess it's meant to give you this scary feel to the film. I found this movie a weird but interesting vampire movie from the 80s with a cast that did well in it.

I like the fact that this movie doesn't take itself too seriously and is able to have some humor in it as well. The movie was a fun watch for sure.

While this movie was a delightful one to watch, I found it interesting to see a group of friends that get sucked into some cheesy 80’s slasher movie called Camp Bloodbath and seeing them try to survive it.

Everyone does well in this movie and while playing their roles in this campy summer camp spoof flick, the movie has its own fun instead of just completely trashing the other slasher films that are referenced in this movie, which is cool.

I also like how they used the song “Bette Davis Eyes” in this, it brings some emotional state towards the film.

Just think the movie Groundhog Day but with an horror twist to it which I find interesting. It’s about this young female stuck in a time loop and being stalked by this killer and to survive, she must track down the killer before she gets killed again.

The film has good pacing and it manages to bring in the ridiculous fun into it while tree keeps getting killed off and trying to figure out on who is trying to kill her.

I think it’s silly that a college university has a baby for their mascot, the mask looks goofy looking but it’s not intended to be taken seriously in anyway.

The actress that plays the lead role does a good job making the film a fun one to watch.

The sequel was entertaining and as usual the lead character that plays Tree (Jessica Rothe) does a good job carrying this movie and making it enjoyable to watch.

A nice horror tale about a young high school student being tormented by bullies in her school and after this prank goes wrong at prom, those bullies are going wish that they never messed with Carrie White ever again.

Sissy Spacek does great playing as Carrie, it makes me feel bad for her character because she’s bullied in school and abused by her religious nut mother.

The prom scene was my favorite part of the movie, it was magical and very chaotic.

While the first movie was more of a home invasion movie, in this thrilling and chaotic sequel, it gives you something exciting to the table as it brings you into the streets of Los Angeles where the purge night carnage happens.

The creativity from the masks in this one looks amazing, it’s almost like it comes from some cheesy slasher movie.

My 2nd favorite from the purge series and as always, I find it humorous to watch all these dumbasses that go out to attempt murder, thinking they are unkillable and just get shot up within seconds by some other people, it's like a bloody chain reaction.

I like how they use the presidential election stuff in this movie, with a female candidate that is against the purge and wants to stop it while the male candidate is a brainwashed looney and wants to continue this murderous purge event.

An interesting comedy horror tale that gives the game of hide and seek a dark and twisted take to it.

I loved Samara Weaving in this movie, she did a fantastic job. While watching this movie it made me root for her every step in the way while trying to survive her wedding night from this ridiculous and sick ritual that her spouse's wealthy family take part of to worship the devil.

Also, what about that ending, did not see that coming when I first watched it, very bloody and cool.

If you’re looking for a not so bleak and depressing but more on the fun side home invasion horror movie, this one is it.

The beginning may start off slow but not for long until we get to the family dinner scene, they get an unpleasant surprise coming their way.

When the family is under attack by the masked invaders, the movie brings in the Intense and gory fun while is adds a nice touch of Comedy and Crime elements into it as well.

When I saw this movie in theaters, it was a nice experience while watching it. The movie itself is a campy, fun and enjoyable werewolf horror comedy film, with the humor being decent, even though I didn't get a lot of laughs from it, but the film was still enjoyable to watch.

The kills in the movie were okay, nothing special so don't expect to see a lot of blood and gore

while watching. I was glad to see Christina Ricci in this movie, I think she delivered well in this one.

I think it was cool and funny to see a werewolf flipping off to Ellie (Christina Ricci), and the cops, while trying to make a getaway later on in the movie.

As a fan of those rom-com High School movies, I like how it takes a dark turn in this one, a high school cheerleader turning into a man-eating demon.

I liked Amanda Seyfried and Megan Fox's roles in this movie, they played them well. The film is more of a dark comedy than just a horror movie and not to be taken seriously. It was a fun and weird film to watch and I enjoyed it.

Good thread, sorry I missed the launch.

Happy Death Day is one I've really enjoyed. Looks like it should be by-the-numbers, I Know What You Did Last Summer-level dreck but it's actually just well-executed and fun with a strong central performance.

Jennifer's Body is really an under-rated or perhaps wrongly-maligned film. I bought into the negativity around it when it came out and passed on it for fourteen years. This was a mistake. It's a good movie with some really good ideas and a very good script and a surprisingly good multi-layered performance from Megan Fox in addition to the obviously good one from Seyfried. So, ya know, good.

While supernatural is not my favorite sub-genre for Horror, I always like the ones where is has something that’s killing people off and the characters must find a way to stop it.

In this gory and intense sequel, it’s about a girl named Kimberly that has these visions of a violent premonition and it’s about a big brutal highway car pileup that she’s a part of.

After the big car pileup scene in the movie, I will avoid driving behind or near trucks with logs on them at all cost, what a crazy movie scene that was.

It seems like someone has fallen victim to another horrifying premonition and this time it's about a tragic roller coaster accident. I thought this movie was gory silly fun and yea same story as the others and seeing new creative ways on how these characters die a painful death.

I think the best death in the movie was the guy that got the automotive engine fan in the back of the head, damn that must have been really painful.

Imo, the best one in the whole series, even though this is treated as a prequel, I still enjoyed it.

I like how in each of these films they come up with a new rule on how to cheat death like in this one where in order to cheat death you can take someone’s life to fill in the spot for death’s design.

By the end of the movie, it comes to show that death can be so unpredictable when you try to cheat it and thinking your safe from its warpath of destruction.

First off, that chaotic Black Friday scene in the beginning had me cracking up, seeing how ridiculous an event like this going wrong and showing us how it’s a silly concept and no sense in getting killed over a cheap deal that you can get on any other day.

I’m not a big fan of Eli Roth’s movies, since he likes to do body horror which is one of my least favorite sub-genre in horror. With this movie, the body horror fits in well with the brutal and gory killings.

I remember seeing this in theaters with my brother when it came out and we both enjoyed it.

Underrated Movie! Plays a good even level of horror and comedy. The best part of the film is definitely the opening 'black Friday' scene, but the whole thing works.

Even if characters sometimes get dismembered a little too easily.

A lot of really good, underrated horror here. Jennifer's Body is one I like mentioning. I think the reason it got maligned is the ads made it look like it was going to include Megan Fox nudity, and then it didn't. But it doesn't need it. It's really good.

When I saw this in in theatres as the only one there on a Tuesday afternoon, I thought this movie was ridiculously fun and bloody movie. It's like the movie Freaky Friday but with a horror twist to it.

The film is about a young girl in high school swaps bodies with a deranged serial killer and must get her body switched back in 24 hours before the change becomes permanent.

I thought Vince Vaughn and Katryn Newton did a good job in this movie.

When I first heard about this movie, I thought it was going to suck but when I watched it, it was surprisingly fun and interesting. I liked this movie over the other doll killing movies that I have seen so far.

I think it’s cool to see how the movie builds itself up while seeing how Cady grows her relationship with Megan (A human sized doll robot) after losing her parents in a car accident and she gets too attached to Megan and not developing any social skills with real life beings.

As the film progresses, things start to take a dark turn, while Megan becomes too overprotective to cady and starts doing bad and violent things.

First, I want to say slashers is one of my favorite sub genres in horror and find some enjoyment in them. I'm also a fan of the final girl trope stuff that comes into play when watching these slasher movies.

So anyways, let's get to one of my favorite horror villains, Jason Voorhees. The deformed guy that supposedly drowned in a lake called Crystal Lake when he was a little boy. After losing someone that was close to him the most, he seeks out bloody vengeance to anyone that dares to step foot on his campgrounds.

The film has a nice beginning theme song to it with the creepy disco music playing. In this one, we get see Jason get his iconic hockey mask which is my favorite version of him as he looks menacing with it on.

One of my favorite horror movies from the 80’s and the horror franchise that I have watched the most from that decade.

Some people may say these movies look cheesy and bad but who cares all what matters is that I liked them. The kills in this movie were great with a cool ending as well and it was also nice to see Crispin Glover in this movie.

In this movie, a new protagonist is introduced and his name is Tommy Jarvis, a 12 year old boy that lives with his sister and mother. After horrifying events that transpire in the final act of this movie, Tommy will never be the same again as you see in the next two movies.

The opening to this film was cool, giving us a cheesy but interesting way to bring Jason back to life. Tommy Jarvis, the one haunted by the events that took place on that night when him as a child and his sister went face to face with Jason Voorhees and the end of the showdown, messes Tommy up even more.

After being institutionalized for a few years, Tommy decides to make this bonehead decision to dig up Jason’s grave to burn the body not knowing he's about to make this mistake that he will never forget.

After lightning strikes Jason’s body, he is brought back from the dead to start another bloody rampage around Crystal Lake which was renamed to Camp Forest Green.

The movie got some good kills and seeing Jason as some unstoppable zombie like killing machine was something nice to see also.

The movie is called Vicious Fun for a reason and it sure delivers that kind of fun with an 80’s vibe to it.

There’s also a good twist to it, as we watch how the movie goes on while we got this young film critic finding himself unwittingly trapped in a self-help group for serial killers.

Never heard of this movie, which doesn't really mean anything since horror might be my least favorite genre.

Horror comedy is one of my favorite sub genres in horror especially when it as loads of zombie killing fun.

The cast did a fantastic job with this movie and wished the movie was a little longer because I found them a delight to watch as they explore the zombie apocalypse world.

I like how each character is named after a US City, Jesse Eisenberg (Columbus), Emma Stone (Wichita) Woody Harrelson (Tallahassee) and Abigail Breslin (Little Rock).

Columbus, Wichita, Tallahassee and Little Rock kick some zombie butt in this solid and enjoyable sequel with a few laughs here and there.

While they are on their zombie hunting journey, they encounter new strains of zombies, "Homers" (slow and dumb), "Hawkings" (partial intelligence), and "Ninjas" (silent and deadly).

They also meet two new people with US City names and one with a US State name, Nevada played as Rosario Dawson, Albuquerque played as Luke Wilson, Flagstaff played as Thomas Middleditch. It was nice to see the main four main characters back for another round of zombie killing.

The blood and gore were great in this movie and liked some of the characters in this movie, it was fun to see them trying to survive the zombie outbreak.

Imo, this is one of the best one of the best horror remakes of the 2000’s.

I like the idea of having killers inside a haunted house, I find it somewhat interesting.

While I enjoyed the movie, this movie sure pulls one of those horror tropes out there "Where the characters go to some random location in the middle of nowhere and feel excited to explore without knowing what they're about to get themselves into."

The ending to this movie is quite satisfying for sure, it's got that payback feel to it.
