My first ever 10/10 for a movie.
Difficult to know what to say. There aren't many hardcore Whitney fans these days sadly (I was a very late convert).
So much damage was done to her legacy by the later years.
For those of us, this is a religious experience.
Let me tell you something about Whitney Houston. Whitney was the greatest singer of all time. Whitney was one of the greatest stage performers in music history.
Whitney was FULL of love and full of faith. She had faith in God, in Jesus and in love, even though all of them let her down. She genuinely (and you see this in this concert where she wells up with tears) loved her fans. She shares her faith and love with her fans, with her audience. She has a great time when she performs. She makes it a party. Everybody loves it including her. She has super cool, unique dance moves, and she wears amazing (even for a guy) outfits.
She was also a beautiful woman.
You see ALL of this at this concert.
But you see and hear more. This was a special special night for Whitney performing in South Africa. She gives her vocals 101%, and you can tell. These are UNIQUE one off vocal performances. She is also OVERJOYED through this concert. For those of us who love her, seeing her joy is so special.
There are also some lovely moments during the concert, that are so Whitney, for example (completely genuinely), although she is one of the greatest musical geniuses of all time, when she was introducing the band, she had to ask one of her core band members what the name of the instrument was that someone in his section was playing (yes babe, it is a saxophone!).
The ONLY shame (apart from the lame opening titles), is how few people there have been to see it.
A fan who is also a journalist has described seeing it on a movie screen as a "credible...close second" to seeing her live, and I can understand that. I am so glad I had the opportunity to experience this wonderful performance.
I only wish that more people could hear her, see her, and understand what a truly wonderful, very very special human being she was.
I was also lucky in a way that I had a 3 mile walk home across country, and it was a bright and fairly clear night sky with a beautiful moon and clear stars that guide me home. It felt like a fitting way to end the evening.
It was on Wednesday night, and is on again on Sunday mostly around lunchtime I think.
Here are the cinemas/theatres showing it:

PLEASE if you possibly can, take this opportunity and go and see her in the cinema, and hear her sing and watch her perform, and see what a wonderful person she was.
But if not no worries, and thank you for reading.
