This CBS comedy welcomes back Damon Wayans Sr and Jr to network television. Sr plays a divorced, semi-retired radio personality who is getting a female co-host.. Loved his rag on all rappers being called "Baby" today. What's a "menopause" sweater? Essence Atkins is a little tight-assed as Sr's new partner "Who comes to Poppa's House with a female perspective? Love that Sr is afraid of his daughter-in-law. Not crazy about the fact that Damon Jr seems to be whipped. "It was cuter when you had a job." "When I said maker her go away, you heard get her a chair and a microphone." This show also marks the return to network television of Geoffrey Owens, best known for playing Elvin on The Cosby Show. playing the father-in-law from hell. Owens and Wayans Sr have a terrific comic chemistry. Damon Wayans Jr underplays beautifully in the pilot. The love between Jr and Senior just burns a hole in the screen. Loved Damon Sr's entrance in the suit. That opening dialogue on the first broadcast with Poppa and Ivy was hysterical. Can't believe Ivy admitted to Sr being here idol. This show has some legs thanks to the Wayans family and Owens, but I think the writers need to let the Wayans improvise a little more. I, at least laughed out loud while watching this, which I can't say about Happy's Place.

I think they use the laugh track too much, but I do like Wayans and his son. I chuckled at a few of the jokes. It was a decent first episode

Season One, Ep 2."I forgot you have a newborn baby schedule." I hope they're not planning to make Sr and his new on air partner a couple, because I'm not feeling any chemistry with them. It is better that Jr do the voices. "That's sardines, peanut butters, and depression...it was my childhood." The dinner table banter was hilarious. I hope they'll be taking the stick out of Ivy's ass within the next couple of episodes. Jr does an impressive Marty the Martian. Poppa really goes to bed at 7:00 PM? Does he have to be at work at 5:00 AM? Jr's Samuel L Jackson was pretty decent too. This episode episode had me laughing pretty consistently. Loved the outtakes at the end, more sitcoms should do that.

Season One, Ep 3. Lobe that sweater Poppa had on in the opening scene. Jr making a documentary about Poppa, that can't come to any good. "Icons don't repeat their walks." Did Jr think making his wife a PA was a good idea? That suit Poppa was wearing in the Upsies commercial was a riot? Robert Townsend directed this episode. Loved that his wife went from PA to studeo head.

Season One, Ep 4. Ivy calling Poppa "P Bear" is stupid that's not going to last. "Getting locked in a locker for the whole day, it prepares you for working a nine to five." What was Junior spraying at his son at the dinner table? Who was that actress playing Poppa's ex? That video Junior made was hysterical. "My plan's starting to come together like butt cheeks." Poppa's ex was wearing the hell out of that leopard print dress. Just realized who's playing Poppa's ex...that's Wendy Raquel Robinson from The Steve Harvey Show and The Game. Junior's British accent is a bit much. Why involve Ivy in this storyline? Geoffrey Owens and Robinson were really funny together. "What in the Megan Markle is that?" Junior was a overly sensitive about what Poppa said. Why does Junior kick up his leg every time he kisses his father? Loved the tuition auction. "Joseph, Joseph, my silly little puppet, welcome to my web."

Season One, Ep 5. "I didn't know whether he was my father or a hired assassin." That little boy playing Jr's son seems to be reading his lines directly off cue cards. Did he really call his father "Baldy"? Jr is wrong, inmates don't have cellphones. Love Jr's interpretation of musical theater class. Wasn't feeling the Tony persona until he said the solution was to dance it off. "I'm gonna dance your sweet little pants off right now." The bit with Poppa's pants was funny. Jr has no issue with his father installing cameras in his house? Mom was killing me in that ice skating costume. "I don't know what regrets are but I think I'm going to have one now." Jr played that scene with his son...can't believe the kid called his Mom stupid, If I had done that when I was a kid, it would have meant the belt. Why does Jr always kick his leg when he kisses his dad?

Season One, Ep 6. Geoffrey Owens is so funny in that wedding photo. That photo of young Jr was adorable. "OK, I'll say it...I was a hot thirteen year old." Jr wants a picture of him and his mom skin to skin? Yuk. When is Jr going to stop being afraid of his father? Jr's wife crumbles at the word "micromanage", love it. Nina and Jr actually booed their children? "Nobody is getting a whip or a sidekick." "I didn't know what I looked like until I was twelve, my Aunt Carla said I didn't miss much." Loved that dress Wendy Raquel Robinson was wearing. Jr's not asking he's demanding. Loved Poppa and Katherine's make up scene. Geoffrey Owens looked ridiculous in that tux. No that size should wear anything white. Is something going to happen between Katherine and Joseph?

Season One, Ep 7. what kind of fool loses his wedding ring three times? I loved Poppa accusing a doctor of giving him diabetes. "What in the Gone with the Wind is going on between you two?" "Why are you talking like a detective from the 40's?" They keep talking about Poppa and Ivy, but those two have absolutely no chemistry whatsoever. "Thank you for your poo poo and your pee pee." "He still plays through the pain of being ugly." "We love you Mommy cause you're so forgiving and so tall." I hate Ivy's laugh...wort TV laugh since Janice on Friends. Thank God that scene with Poppa and Ivy was a dream. The Misery takeoff was kind of lame. The Ivy character loses points every time she laughs, it's not as funny as they think it is. Catherine must have really burned Poppa, hope we get some backstory on that. I couldn't believe they actually acknowledged Ivy's terrible laugh right after I complained about it. Trying to figure out how Nina took those photos without Jr noticing.

Season One, Ep 8. Not sure if I'm feeling Poppa in that hairpiece. One thing I've always loved about Damon Wayans is the way he's aging so gracefully. The man doesn't need hair. "Tenderoni"? Do people still say that word? Actually, that hair makes Damon look more like his brother, Keenan. This episode was directed by Robert Townsend. 'I don't want to brag, but I think she's a human." That shirt Poppa was wearing on his blind date was hideous. "Sounds like you like to do a lot of stuff to mess a brother's hair up.' That video of poppa twirking had me on the floor. Poppa had no idea that flowered shirt was Nina's? "I don't wanna be a grandbrother!" :If you can cry at Old Yeller, you're dead inside." What was that song Jr and Nina sang together? Loved Poppa being shocked that all the children had cell phones. Poppa's breakdown in front of the kids was very funny. Loved when Jr shooed the teacher away. Loved when Poppa apologized and got real with the blind date. Wait a minute...so he would have had her if he had kept the hair on? Poppa looked great in that red track suit and Damon nailed that final monologue.

Season One, Ep 9. Love that sweater Poppa was wearing in the opening scene. "My ex-wife and I experimented with celibacy...we called it marriage." Where are all these issues with Jr coming from? Is it just because he's horny? "We're already bored, please don't dd to it." Damon played that scene with his co-host, celebrating the glee of the possibly agony Poppa has got Jr going through. Were they actually on the air during that scene. Why would the dog leave and go back to Poppa's house? Jr's allergy makeup was excellent. Ivy's reaction to the dog was a little over the top. Love Jr's kids picking the dog over their father. Damon does a great Redd Foxx. I'm glad Poppa decided to keep the dog. So was it ever explained why Jr and Nina are being celibate?

Season One, Ep 10. Why does Junior always kick up his leg when he kisses his dad? "The movie's called "A Loud Place" it's like "A Quiet Place" but with an all black cast." Those jeans with the striped piping Poppa was wearing in the second scene were hideous. How great to see Tommy Davidson, reuniting with Damon. he's aging well. The messing with the stranger in the elevator was funny. I remember when Nathan did that to Will on Will and Grace. Wow, two reunions in the same show...Emmy winner Lamorne Morris, who won an Emmy last year for Fargo, who replaced Damon Jr on New Girl. "And they're black, so you know they're about to die." Love that Dreamgirls marquee in the background. "I didn't know it was hamper casual.' Why was Tommy doing Sammy to explain the original of his name? I cannot believe Morris dissed Jr's wife in order to get him to leave his family for a job? Oooh, he called Nina Yoko. "Murder ain't the only thing she wrote." I knew they weren't going to kiss just because they were on the jumbotron.

Season One, Ep 11. Glad to see Geoffrey Owens back as JJ, Jr's father-in-law. ":I told him I had a son-in-law. I omitted the words 'I don't like him.'" JJ doesn't really think Poppa is going to be a spokesperson for that product. Where do they get all these ugly sweaters that Poppa wears? From Damon's closet? Jr asking his father fir an on air apology? Seriously? "No, please don't make my ears happy." JJ's King Lear was a riot. Thos costumes were dope. The return of Wendy Raquel Robinson too, wearing the hell out of that dress. "Catherine. what are ding you there, I thought you couldn't come out until dark." That commercial had me on the floor. Loved Poppa's apology to Jr, it was really sweet.

Season One, Ep 12. A cameo from Charo? Seriously? Can't deny it, she is aging quite g gracefully. "I did better than invite him, I didn't invite him." Loved when Jr imitated his father. Why did Jr tell his wife to get taller? That ugly sweater that Poppa had on is the first one that I actually liked. Ivy's dress in the opening scene, however, was hideous. Ivy's impression of Poppa was terrible. Who was that actor playing Lafonzo? He looked really familiar. "at least I can eat chocolate without losing a foot." "He still thinks LMNOP was one letter." Wendy Raquel Robinson looked amazing in this episode. Jr's own kids just turned on him. When is Ivy going to realize she can't solve all the issues between Poppa and Jr? I love that Jr had custom made pajamas made for the party.

Season One, Ep 13. Is it just me or is Ivy's onscreen persona something akin to nails on a chalkboard. I liked Poppa's sweater this week. I can't believe Poppa volunteered to DJ Ivy's mother's party, that seemed so not like him. "Sushi? We're black we like our fish fried." These storylines about throwing the biggest and best child birthday parties almost always end up really stupid. The actress playing Felicia looks familiar. "And please, stop dressing like a public defender." Joey the rich kid was funny as hell. The actor who played Ivy's ex? Wasn't he on The Game with Wendy Raquel Robinson? Yeah, he was on The Game. I guess this whole b-day party thing would have been funny for someone who was into anime. Loved that Poppa looked out for Ivy the way he did and, of course, she doesn't believe him. Love that peach-colored sweater Poppa had on in that last scene with Ivy. That jingle for Magic Shine reminded me of Soul Glo in Coming to America.

Season One, Ep 14. "You gotta love family or they leave you out of the will." Liked Poppa's sweater of the week. Surprised it took this long for another Wayans to make an appearance on the show. Marlon looked fantastic. How did Poppa's glasses end up on Nina? "The only thing that changes with you Melvin, is the amount." Junior's blindness regarding his uncle is a little hard to swallow. Loved that brown suit Marlon was wearing in the coffee house scene. "Don't trust a brother who won't buy the first coffee." Junior was so funny in that scene where he's trying to convince Nina about the deal. I know he didn't just walk in there and eat his brother's sandwich. "How do you win if you don't cheat?" Apparently, Junior's brain had to be removed for this episode to work. Loved that Poppa bought back Junior's collection, did not see that coming. Loved that sweat suit Marlon was wearing in that final scene with his brother. I would have been very upset if Marlon hadn't returned that watch, even if Poppa didn't take it.

Season One, Ep 15. Liked Poppa's ugly sweater in the opening scene. I was not happy that Jr had no idea who Billie Holliday was. Ivy wrote a book? Ivy strikes me as the kind of person who doesn't want to hear any criticism about her work. Loved Jr's reaction to learning what the record was worth. Why would Ivy just assume those flowers were for her? "I said uncut, not cutthroat!" This side of Ivy is really unflattering. Jr messed up, that album belongs to Poppa. Why would he offer Poppa $200 when he knows the album is worth $20,000? Suing for being a weenie, LOL! Loved Poppa's pink suit. Vivica A Fox looked amazing. "Now in the words of Judge Mathis, sounds like a crackhead move to me." "I love a warm cookie, you know what I'm saying?" Can't believe Junior thought he had a chance of winning that case. Loved that green leather dress Nine was wearing. Jr didn't even know Billie was a female? When Poppa pulled out that check, I actually said to myself, "I bet it's for $10,000."

Season One, Ep 16. Loved Poppa's ugly sweater this week. Most familkies would be gateful for a pancake beakfast. He had no right to take Ivy's phone, she's not family. Can't believe Poppa leaped that island, that was awesme!. "I'm not addicted, I just wanna lick the bag." Poppa has a sardine guy named Sven...OK." Loved everyone's reaction to the fish. Did Jr really think one shaved eyebrow would look better than two? Cracked up when they put a mask on Ivy. There seems to have been some sort of truce between Poppa and Ivy that I missed. Never thought I would see an entire TV episode centered around a game of Truth or Dare.

Season One, Ep 17. This will be my last post on this show because I read online this afternoon that the show has been cancelled and I can't say I'm surprised. I've heard no buzz about this show and don't know anyone other than myself who has been watching. Liked the reveal that Jr is a former fattie. "He put the ate in overweight." The actress playing Aunt Nettie reminds me of Raven Symone. Why doesn't Nettie want Poppa to walk her down the aisle? Not crazy about this week's ugly sweater. Don't understand this talk that Poppa wants Jr to give to Natlie's fiancee. Why is Jr acting like he just saw West Side Story for the first time? Loved that purple sweater Poppa had on the second scene though. Nina's red dress made her look like a librarian. "It's when you crush a brick to get the nutrients from it." "I just had three footlongs, no bites." Why would this guy be so purposely intimidating with his future brother-in-law and his wife? And why would he go to meet Jr without Natalie? Can't wait for Poppa to find out his future son-in-law is an ex-con. Why is Natalie acting like she's the only girl in the world had her dad cheat on her mom? Poppa really loves his daughter, he remembers everything about her childhood. Natalie needs to get over it. This is the most genuine emotion I've seen from Poppa since the pilot. Wendy Raquel Robinson looked amazing. Love that Popa is covering for Catherine. Loved Damon's reaction to Natalie putting on that record. Loved Poppa putting Duirrel in his place. Damon did sone solid work in this episode and on thsi show in general. Shame it didn't find an audience.
