Well, it looks like there haven't been enough adaptations of Stephen King's Carrie, because Mike Flanagan is now working on a new TV miniseries over at Amazon. (https://variety.com/2024/tv/news/carrie-tv-series-mike-flanagan-amazon-1236184808/)
The series logline describes it as a “bold and timely reimagining of the story of misfit high-schooler Carrie White, who has spent her life in seclusion with her domineering mother. After her father’s sudden and untimely death, Carrie finds herself contending with the alien landscape of public High School, a bullying scandal that shatters her community, and the emergence of mysterious telekinetic powers.”

“Carrie” was King’s first novel and was originally published in 1974. The book went on to become a best seller and was subsequently adapted into a film in 1976 with Sissy Spacek in the title role. Directed by Brian DePalma, the film grossed over $30 million on a reported budget of less than $2 million. It is widely cited as one of the best horror films of all time. A sequel featuring none of the original cast titled “The Rage: Carrie 2” was released in 1999 followed by a TV film remake in 2002 and another remake in 2013 starring Chloë Grace Moretz.
