View Full Version : Canon City (1948) - the hownos/Allaby viewing session
Looks good! I have seen two films that Crane Wilbur directed and four other films that he wrote, but didn't direct.
a look at the cast. i recognize jeff corey, whit bissell and deforest kelly of star trek fame.
The warden is playing himself. That's different.
using real prisoners aa well
This opening sequence is like a newsreel type documentary.
The film was shot almost entirely on location at the site of the Canon City state penitentiary.
I've seen 8 Scott Brady films.
scott brady was brother of lawrence tierney
I've seen 18 Jeff Corey films. He was in a lot of stuff.

Yeah, a prison break during a blizzard isn't going to go well.

I couldn't quite tell.
I think they overuse the narration in this.
It's hard to keep everyone straight in this with several escapees and the way they tell the story.
what happened to the jeff corey character?

I couldn't tell from the film, but I looked it up and he was recaptured. Here is a link to the real guy after being recaptured:

don't usually see that on youtube
This was alright, but somewhat forgettable. Too much narration, didn't feel noir enough for my liking. 6/10 is my rating.
it's always better to develop the relationships between the characters esp when they are prisoners. a bit too procedural. 5.5/10

Agreed. I couldn't always keep the characters and their relationship straight.
