A friend of mine recently came back from o/s and bought a dvd copy of "Lord of the Rings - Return of the King". Thinking that this would be another "cinema job", I was absolutely shocked to see that it was the real McCoy.

From the menu, to picture quality, to sound quality/surround sound, to subtitles etc................this is the real thing.

My question is........how did this come about?? becuase I have never heard any news of the dvd being stolen (unlike The Two Towers).

The LOTR: ROTK DVD is set to be released far earlier than its predecessors. The first two films saw their theatrical versions released in August, and the Extended Editions in November. But the final chapter will see its theatrical version out on May 25th, as was reported on this site last month (http://www.movieforums.com/dvd/268). If your friend's got a copy of the Extended Edition, yeah, that's pretty odd...I wouldn't imagine it'd even be done yet. But if he's just got the theatrical version, well, we've only got a month-and-a-half to go until its release, so it's not inconceivable.
