You're probably the first mofo to check this out, let us know what you think.
Wow! I was thinking itd be worth watching, but it was way better than I thought itd be. Sheridan has his next Yellowstone, minus the beauty of Montana. The storyline is truly inspired, vintage Billy Bob Thornton, and some surprising hilarious scenes throughout.
5 out of 5 my fellow MoFos, 5 out of 5. :yup:

Was trying to decide what to start watching between; Silo and For All Mankind, but 5/5 sounds pretty convincing, I'll give it a try.
Has anyone else watched this? Was I too giving on my score?

Watched ep.1..
Holy Moly Guacamole.. I knew something was going to happen.. because the tortilla hot sauce scene was too happy.. But I sure didn't expect blowing up three characters in the first episode..:fire:
Too early to rate, but definitely going to keep watching, looks great so far.
I dont know if anyone else noticed this, but the theme song is much slowed down and toned down version of the old Friday Night Lights tv show theme. I like Landman, but FNL is one of the best tv series Ive ever seen in my life. Also based in Texas.
Please, We need to combine the Landman threads. Id posted in the other one thinking they already had been.

i’d love it more if Taylor Sheridan wasn’t the laziest writer ever.
but the latest episode was awesome. the scene with the National Guard touring the fields. hilarious!

could this show get any worse? why do i do this to myself? i should know by now that Sheridan just rewrites Yellowstone scripts to make his other shows work. change some names, move the location, boom: new mid-tier show!

I've only seen episode 1 so far and now I'm even more 'on the fence' whether to continue or not.. the ratings are steady, going up even. Tongo seems to love it and McClane drops it in the mid-tier section. I'm equally on the fence about sci-fi series Foundation by the way.

As for Landman, it remains to be seen. This was probably one of the weakest first seasons I’ve seen. The writing just gets worse and worse. Don’t get me wrong there are a few scenes that are quite a hoot, but I can count them on one hand. And I wouldn't need all five fingers to do it.
Well the shine did wear off the star for me. I cancelled my Paramount + right before the season finale of Landman if thats any indicator. The show lost its luster, and seems like contrived formulaic motions now with some scenes of comedy scattered in. At the least they should have shortened the season. Entertaining the old folks at a nursing home? Thats right up there with "Play us a song Walker".
I just finished Season 1. I like the series. Billy Bob Thornton was an ideal choice for the main character. He gives a great performance, and like all of Taylor Sheridan's shows, it is cast very well. I did not like the season finale and do think it had a decline in quality from the beginning to the end, but I'd watch a second season. I think the main downfall of the series, in my opinion, is because, like many of Taylor Sheridan Show's, he just tries to do too much with the story. I think I'd like this a lot better if it was just about him working for the oil company and trying to protect himself and the employees from all the dangers that are inherent in working in the oil business, the legal challenges or protecting against the threats to the company, and about him reconnecting with his ex-wife and daughter. I think that's more than enough to build a very successful and highly entertaining show around. He really didn't need the drug cartel angle at all. This didn't need to turn into a crime story. I think many of his shows would be better served if he focused on smaller, character driven, more self-contained, less sprawling stories.
