View Full Version : Nashville (1975) vs MASH (1970)
I would go with Nashville. Loved that ending scene.

MASH tried to soak itself so hardly in the realism of the atmosphere that it got in the way of my hearing everyone properly. The jokes are typically amusing, but I rarely laughed out loud like people promised.
I watched Nashville twice in a row just so I could write a proper review. I started the first half one day, finished it another day and restarted the first half, then watched the last half on a third day. It ended up in my top 10 for a while. That movie is real AMERICANA.
Nashville is a masterpiece and one of my all time favourites. Mash is good, but a little overrated, in my opinion.

Two great films. Difficult to compare a comedy to something so ambitious and multi-layered. Nashville gets my vote, although it's been a while since I've seen it.

MASH sort of falls apart with the football game

Ditto what Allaby said. :D
But my all-time favorite Altman films are probably Secret Honor (1984), McCabe & Mrs. Miller (1971), and Images (1972).
