I have chosen Dexter for my next foray into cable television. Heard a lot of wonderful things about this show over the years. During its seven season run, the show received 21 Emmy nominations, winning four awards and 11 Golden Globe nomination, winning e Globe for Lead Actor Michael C Hall. Good to see James Remar in the opening flashback playing Dexter's father, after watching him slice up a choir director/pedophile. "Blood...sometimes it keeps my teeth on edge." Why does Dexter seem to like antagonizing Deborah? Which Velez twin is that playing Deborah's boss? Dexter's a blood splatter expert? Yeah, that's Lauren Velez. Dex's narration seemed to imply that he was jealous of this guy's ability to drain the blood from the body. Margo Martindale! I love her, hope she's a regular. What'a Doakes got against Dexter? That Jamie looks like a real creepy guy. "Animals don't like me, especially dogs. I don't think they approve of what I do to their masters." Jamie was accused of murder once but can still get a job s a security guard. It's creepy that Dexter's proclivities go all the way back to when he was a child. Love Julie Benz as Dexter's girl...wonder how much danger she and her kids might be in? Wow, Rita's really broken. Love David Zayas. This security guard has a rape website? Didn't exactly understand what teenage Dex's father was trying to teach him. I'm assuming at this point doesn't know anything about Dexter's inner demons. I love the slight layer of smarm underneath Michael C Halls's portrayal, but something tells me it won't be as slight as seasons go by. Guess I put too much wasted thought into Jamie the security guard. Dexter's sexual issues are still a little unclear to me. I mean I know he's not gay, but something's going on there. How did the killer know where to leave that "message" for Dexter?

I watched the entire series at one time, but don't remember a lot of the details.

I will try to answer one question: Dexter's adopted father was trying to teach him a code to live (and kill) by to try to keep him out of trouble or from becoming the typical serial killer who preys upon the innocent. His father knew Dexter wouldn't be able to control his urges to torture & kill, so he taught Dexter to channel them - this meant only targeting other killers or violent criminals who may deserve to be executed - this would help protect the innocent from Dexter, while providing him a regular supply of creeps to hunt, torture and kill (since there are never too few criminals out there), not to mention that Dexter would ultimately be helping society as a vigilante serial killer of serial killers.

Dexter reminded me of the comic history of the Batman in that so many people discovered Dexter's true identity over the course of the series (both allies and enemies alike), that it soon became infeasible that his crimes could remain a secret (despite the fact that so many people who found out were killed themselves).

The first four seasons of Dexter are amazing and well worth watching. After that it becomes hit or miss and towards the end more miss.

The return of the show had some great things going for it but I don’t think they nailed it completely then either.

Love the character and the universe though.

Season 1, Ep2. A couple of things that are already starting bother me. Dex's sister, is really starting to work. She's way too flighty to be a police officer, she is self-absorbed and seems to crave constant 24/7 attention from her brother, which redefines "yuck." How did Dex know that Matt was going to be acquitted? Does anyone know who the actor was playing Matt? He looked like a guy who used to be on 90210 named James Marshall? Why did they kill the cop's wife? One thing that I'm definitely noticing about Dex is that everyone who is victimized by him seems to deserve it.

Season 1 Ep3. Nice to see Scott Winters in the opening scene. Dex actually goes to the jail to check out the guys who are being released? That's sick. He just let that guy walk away with Rita's truck? How did that killer get into that arena? Nice security. "I prefer a stalk and ambush approach." I'm curious as to how Dex's father was able to control his urges when he was a cop? That was a gutsy move Doakes made. Loving Rudolph Martin as Guerrero...first saw him decades ago on All My Children. Did Dexter actually use the word "heinous"? Still trying to figure out why Rita just gave up her truck like that. LaGuerta was way too confident in her reveal of the ice truck killer that there's no way she could be correct. Was that Amanda Wyss playing the social worker? Did Dexter follow Jeremy? Because it was staged like he got there before Jeremy did. That gator literally made me jump out of my seat. Why would the nurse be trying to kill Dexter's father? "There's np such thing as the Tooth Fairy, but the Splinter Fairy is the real deal." Doakes reluctance to vigilante justice is a little hard to believe, I thought he would be totally down with this. I totally missed Jeremy lifting Dexter's wallet. The young actor playing Jeremy was very good. That nurse really put up a fight. "Scream and lose a tongue." Loved that Dexter got Rita another vehicle, though it didn't really surprise me.

That's because they were married in real life! ;)

Then shouldn't they have played romantic interests instead of siblings? Because they're not coming off as siblings right now.

Then shouldn't they have played romantic interests instead of siblings? Because they're not coming off as siblings right now.

I was just joking. But there may be something to it - you may be seeing their (then) real-life mutual attraction showing through their performances even though they were supposed to be playing siblings.

P.S. Or... I just remembered, Dexter and Debra aren't biological siblings in the story since Dexter was adopted by Debra's parents. They are like Greg and Marcia Brady! So, no reason, even within the show, they couldn't be attracted to each other.

Season 1 Ep 4. I expected to see a little more of a response from Dexter when he saw the blood. I loved when he referred to the cut as delicate. James Remar is certainly aging gracefully. Where do I know that guy from who played Tony Tucci? I'm sorry but Deborah seems kind of ditzy to be a credible police officer. That encounter with the neighbor was unpleasant but I hope Dexter chooses his battles. Is it weird that this killer can go around specifically placing all of these body parts with nobody seeing him? Will they take the stick out of Doakes' ass anytime soon? OK, so this ice truck killer is doing this because of something Dexter did in his childhood? I was surprised that Rita actually encountered the neighbor. I liked that actress playing Tucci's widow. Who do these guys work for who are following Doakes? I loved that Dexter had no idea what the X's and O's meant and Angel's frustration with him. Can't believe Rita took the dog, I thought Dexter did something to him offscreen. Poor Angel, Dexter's got his head all mixed up. Wow, what did Angel do to his wife? Cheat on her? I feel like I'm missing something regarding Dexter's relationship with his father. How did Scott Winters know where Doakes was? Wow, Tucci is still alive, but why? "I'm Dexter...boo!"

Season One, Ep 5. It's so funny the way Deborah is getting a lot of credit on this case that I'm not so sure she deserves. Did we really need to be told that Dexter likes to be alone? "Tell me this psycho bled on something, Dexter." "Ever since the blowjob, she's assumed we've taken it to the next level." It's a little strange how Dexter is feeling so trapped by Rita so quickly. Like Dexter so quickly clarifying "a maid" and "my maid". "Freedom is just a word for one more way to get f*cked." Jose Zuniga was really good in that scene in the car lot. Didn't Doakes tell Deborah not to talk to Tucci? Does this girl ever actually listen to anyone? This Castillo is kind of sloppy in terms of leaving possible evidence behind. Dexter's feeling about Rita seem to flip flop. The inability to feel has its advantages." I see Doakes still hasn't scheduled his stick removal surgery. I do have to agree with Doakes that Deborah's suggestion to Tucci that they blindfold him again was outrageous. Why does Angel keep lying to Dexter about his marriage? I don't the harm in his being honest and he find more of a compatriot in Dexter if he does. I love the whole idea of Dexter being uninterested woman and not gay. I hope this continues to be explored. Deborah was out of line with Doakes. Rita always seems like she's about to evaporate into a puddle of water. Michael C Hall was SO funny in that scene where he was trying to figure out how to pacify her. Could they have found an uglier tux for teenage Dex to wear? Was that the maid that Rita asked Dex to look for? Can't believe Doakes changes his mind about the blindfold, but I loved the way it worked. Why is Deborah getting credit for wrapper? Masuka found it. I knew Dex's question to the Castillos was going to have nothing to do with their crimes. Loving what Deborah did for Tucci. Was that the maid in the trunk of that Mercedes? Why did he only chop one of the bodies? Dexter can't possibly be ignorant of the fact that he can never have a normal life.

Dexter can't possibly be ignorant of the fact that he can never have a normal life.

He's more aware of that fact than anyone, except for maybe his adopted father (who sometimes also seems to serve as a stand-in conscience - via memories - for the one Dexter lacks or has trouble cultivating).

Season One, Ep 6. How did they find Dex's latest crime scene so quickly? I don't think he had any option regarding killing both of them. The ice truck killer dived into the ocean and retrieved that body? Seriously? Is it possible the ice truck killer is someone Dexter knows? Doakes is a military veteran? That explains a lot about him. How long was that little boy in that trunk, my God! "That's it, no more donuts for Masuka." Sometimes it seems like there are selected moments when Dexter wants to be caught. Some more secrets about Doakes seems to be coming down the pike. Oh God, he's not going to kill that kid is he? Vernee Watson playing Doakes' mom. That woman has been around forever. Loved Deb making herself at home with Doakes' family. I don't know why, but was somewhat taken aback when Dex mentioned the possibility of his arrest here. This is the first time this subject has been addressed. So bizarre that his murder fantasy found Deborah as his killer. Loved the Patrick Bateman reference, that was genius. The police seem closer to Dexter than he thinks. How convenient that the kid didn't look up when Dex was leaving. If the police found the Casatillos, what makes Dext think they won't find the rest of his "stuff"? Does Deborah have a thing for Doakes? I hope that little boy stays safe.

Season One, Ep 7 That was a lot of blood, I'm with Doakes, that should have been giving Dexter an erection. "Timothy McVeigh drove way too fast on the way out of town." That was the nastiest looking trailer I have ever seen. "If I had followed my instincts, this boy's high school yearbook would still have an editor. Why was Dex supposed to be impressed by the fact that Deb chased that guy? Mark Pellegrino was appropriately smarmy as Rita's ex. Why would a killer take photos of his own crime scene? "Thank you for making me the woman I am today." I don't know which one likes to take credit for the work of their staff more, LaGuerta or Matthews (Geoffrey Pierson). Dexter was so creepy in that scene with Rita. All that taxidermy was totally creeping me out. Taxidermy creeps me out in general. How could they tell that skeleton was a woman? Rita's ex seems to have a real capacity for danger of pushed too hard and Rita still seems terrified of him. How did Doakes know whee Jeremy was? Doakes was pretty much choking on that compliment to Dex. I loved Dex'
s handling of Paul at the door. There's definitely something going on with Deborah and Doakes, even if neither of them are aware of it. Why does Rita seem to be unable or unwilling to divorce Paul, though with Dex on the job, it might be handled, but Dex should consider how killing Paul would impact his children. Wow, they haven't wasted anytime putting Tony Tucci back together again, didn't see the prosthetics happening at such lightening speed. I guess my instincts about Doakes and Deborah are on the money. Doakes should be doing that interrogation not LaGuerta. Really like that kid playing Jeremy. Hate that doctor, he's so full of himself. Right now, it seems like Deborah would do the horizontal mambo with anything in pants. Jeremy didn't strike me as the suicidal type, he was in a lot more pain than I saw, but Dexter did. Matthews is such a douche.

Season One, Ep 8. Tony Goldwyn directed this episode. Dex isn't wasting time zeroing in on Rita's ex. Maybe the presence of Rita's ex might influence some of Dex's relationship issues. LaGuerta is still looking at Dexter like he's a hot fudge sundae. Tony's playing the doctor too? "This guy's good...so why do his patients keep dying?" Dexter seemed geniunely offended by the doctor's question. James Remar was so good in that first flashback scene. I keep getting this vibe that Perry is not the ice box killer but he wants to take credit for it for some reason. I knew Dex was offended by that question. If it was a suicide, wouldn't the gun have been in the water? Even Perry sees that LaGuerta likes taking credit for other cops' work. Rita thinks she's in control of her life? Seriously? I liked Deborah's panties. So we're not the only ones who have noticed the oddity of Dexter and Deborah's relationship. It seems like Rita wants to fight Dexter but she can't. That head looked real authentic, totally creepy. Dexter's confession was excellent because he knew the doctor would never believe him. Did not see that reveal coming...that was awesome.

Got a question for you, Gideon... (only because I don't remember)
Does Debra know Dexter is not her biological brother?
Or was she too young when Dex was adopted and her parents never told her that he was adopted?

I don’t know. Her not knowing would explain her squirm worthy feelings about him.

Season One, Ep 9. Loving that Dexter thinks he's in a "real" relationship. Rita's kids might be worse than Don Draper's kids. Why didn't Doakes just shoot him in the leg to stop him? Doakes told LaGuerta that the guy shot at him first but I'm pretty sure there was only one shot. OK, I replayed it and there were two shots, but the pause between shots was uncomfortably long. What would make Deborah think she's such an expert on Dexter's life before he came to live with her. Deborah just refuses to accept that Dexter had a life before she met him. Is Doc trying to get Deborah out of town and she can't read a room? If Rita insists on going with Dexter, she should have just let Paul keep the kids until she returns. Whatever Paul is, he's not going to hurt those kids. That's great that it's not about how many shots, but who shot first. I'm with Angel, I didn't see the gun either. Is Doakes hiding something? The doctor actually talked Debora into showing up at Dade...shocking. Dakin Matthews was great as the medical examiner. "Who knows what caused it...stress, inactivity, French fries." Dexter taking a sample of his dad's blood...another shocker. I personally hope this guy does turn out to be his biological father. Dex needs to learn that he can't have everything the way he wants it. If this Mr Bayard was so freaking innocent, why did he take off running the second Doakes spotted him? Rita's attempt at being a bad ass during that totally unnecessary phone call from Paul was laughable. I think this doctor wants Dex to figure out who he us. Why is Angel in such agony about this shooting? "Wait did I call the hot Morgan by accident? Freudian!" Why is Deborah so upset about those DNA results? How is this even relevant to Deborah? Her being this upset was way over the top and nobody invited her to the house anyway. LaGuerta seems to want coerce a confession out of Doakes. Does Dex think he's really going to get away with stealing his dad's remains? Can't believe how close Dexter is letting the doctor get. Can't believe he just dumped the ashes in the yard. I thought he was going to conduct some kind of tests on them. They kept that card all that time? Did Harry actually know Dex's real father? Did he kill him? Doc is sure staying in Dexter's face? It's amazing someone who's emotionally unstable as Deborah became a cop. That old lady knows the Doc. I'm over Paul, he's got to go. Why is Doc pretending to be a cable repairman?

Gideon58

Season One, Ep 10. Kids asking if adults are going to make out is not cute or funny anymore. "Maybe some sort of promotional routine...you stay 10 days you get a jar of blood." So did this guy gather blood from all the previous crimes and spread it all over that hotel room. Those white suits look like condoms. Why did Dexter react to that blood like that? Can he only take it in small doses? This crime scene really got to Dexter I thought he was going to pass out. The police are idiots...did they get a look at Rita and still think that she assaulted Paul? Speaking of which, why hasn't Dexter disposed of Paul yet? I can' believe all these people who have worked with Dexter for years are buying his lame excuses for not being in that crime scene? This Debbie Downer thing with Ange is getting totally played out. Wow, so great to see Malcolm Jamal Warner on the canvas. Rita messed up when she brought Paul into her bedroom for a fake seduction. Rudy is really going to give himself away if he keeps talking about Dexter while Deborah is trying to have sex with him? Unless he's purposely trying to get Deborah to break up with him. How obvious is it that I don't like Deborah? Can we please get Angel laid? "That Boy in the Blood" would make a great movie title. "All I need is a little proof of his inner monster." That crime scene really has Dexter dropping the ball where Paul is concerned. I don't know abot Dexter, but from here, Rudy is really coming off like he's in love with Dexter. And she really doesn't see it? Or is she just in denial? I think he has feelings for Deborah but right now she's getting in the way of this thing with Dexter. Where have I seen that actress with Angel before? It's a little hard to swallow that Dexter isn't the least bit suspicious about Rudy trying to get him to open up. "I have other problems to concentrate on, like forgotten cell phones." Can't wait for LaGuerta's boss to find out how wrong he is. Angel's questioning of Rudy was a little vague. Wow, Paul's really got Rita by the balls, how is this possible? His attempt to mess with Dexter's head was pathetic. How is Dexter going to explain that to the court officer? Matthews is a dick. I think letting Paul live was a mistake. Really didn't expect Rudy back on his hands and knees with flowers. Again, didn't get the final scene.

Season One, Ep 11. Keith Gordon directed this episode. Dexter seems incapable of concentrating on what happened to Angel right now. That prostitute's prosthetic hand is SO creepy looking. I don't know who's sicker, Rudy or Dexter. Doakes going after Dexter for leaving the hospital was a little over the top for my tastes. Doakes needs to get a life...his obsession with Dexter is creepy. Margo's back, I guess her role is kind of minor and I have a feeling we won't be seeing much more of her. "Ho, ho, ho, another dead Who'" I can't believe Rudy put body parts among Xmas presents...how sick is that? Commissioner Matthews doesn't have a clue and I have a feeling he's about to lose his job over the ice truck killer. What does Deborah expect Dexter to do about her relationship with Rudy? "If I had known this would get you back in the same room with me, I would have been stabbed sooner." Deb has become officially annoying which is why they're hooking her up with Rudy, so that when the truth comes out about Rudy, she can become even more so. Was Dexter actually using microfiche? Camilla knows more than she's telling Dexter. Why is Rita running to Paul? And bringing the kids to get an explanation? Terrible idea, Rita should be honest with her children, but she should do it, not Paul. Rudy bit Angel? Whenever Deb learns the truth about Rudy, I think it might be Doakes who saves her, not Dexter. How can Rudy continue to do what he's been doing and marry Deborah? Dexter is taking way too long to put this together. Finally, a final scene that I get. Excellent episode.

Gideon58

And here I am at the first season finale. Deb is an idiot. She's sitting there tied up in duct tape talking about "This isn't you." Why was Angel so shocked that the hooker ended up dead? Took everybody else all that time to figure out that Deb is MIA? Doakes needs a nap. Paul's wasting his breath with Rita, she's not hearing anything bad about Dexter. Love those shipping yard miniatures. "Finding a needle in a haystack isn't hard when every needle is computerized." Wow, Dexter is really scattered right now. I kind of understand Doakes' hostility...Dexter really does treat him like he's stupid and he's not. He's just not much for thinking outside the box. Locked in the trunk of a car with a bloody corpse...gross. Loved Masuka's jacket. I refuse to believe that Rita's ex is going to be the person to lead to Dexter's downfall, not with six more seasons to go. Deb running around that padded room reminded me of William H Macy's wife running around after Buscemi and Stomare let her out of the car in Fargo. Angel's the first one to consider the possibility of Rudy being a mental patient? OMG! Can't believe who Rudy really is never occurred to me, considering Dexter's childhood. Love that Esme is onto Matthews. Rudy wants Dexter to kill Deborah? Dex saves Deb's life and Doakes wants him suspended...classic Doakes. How did he get away? I thought he was trapped inside that place where Doakes broke off the lock. Deb was way too quick to suggest that she stay with Dexter. Paul was initially dumb as a box of rocks and now he's Columbo? Dexter is really uncomfortable with Deb being in his house beyond 24 hours. Dexter left his door unlocked? Why didn't he tape Rudy's mouth? Michael C Hall played the hell out of that final scene with Rudy. Not sure how Rudy's death was deemed a suicide. "This is what it must feel like to walk in full sunlight." Great season finale, looking forward to another season with a serial killer.

I am now ready to leap into the second season with Showtime's favorite serial killer. Anxious to see if dangling plot points left over from last season are addressed. Glad they didn't change the opening credit sequence, I love it. Weren't "Tonight's the night" the opening words of the first season? Angel's New Age sensibility is getting very tiresome. "With Doaakes tailing me, my life is all Jekyll and no Hyde." Is that Glenn Plummer playing Jimmy Sensio? I love him. Don't understand why he spared Jimmy? I get the impression that Deb doesn't plan on leaving Dexter's house unless he throws her out. That flashback with Harry and Dexter...that's not how Harry died, is it? Doakes' obsession with Dexter continues to redefine squirm worthy. Hey that was Max Gail Deb was interviewing. I think LaGuerta prevented Deb from punching out that guy with the camera. Don't get how Paul has been able to keep his kids thinking that he's a superhero. Rita lied about the show, I don't believe it. Chino is a freaking beast. I see Vince's obsession with Deb is still smoldering. So whose body was that the scuba divers found? Deb works my last nerve...whenever she knocks on Dexter's door, she expects him to answer it within five seconds. I understand she still feels like Rudy made her feel like a fool, but it's time for her to move on and away from Dexter. Wow, they didn't waste anytime giving Esme a personal life and LaGuerta seemed to enjoy it. Rita keeps acting like she doesn't want to help Paul, but she keeps accepting charges when Paul goes. Why did she turn around and tell Paul about the shoe? "One man's tattoos are another man's blood slides." Dexter looked so excited to have a new playroom. "My psycho killer fiancee, I've had worse, at least he paid for my meals." Well, at least Rita admitted to residual feelings toward Paul. I don't blame Deb for smacking that guy in the bar. Why did he feel he had to grab her and turn her around? That was the first time I've seen Dexter lose control of someone he already had on the table. What was the point of the whole shoe thing if they were going to turn around and kill Paul? They couldn't have done that just to protect Dex. Daxter was practically salivating when he saw all those bags being pulled out of the water. Well. only one dangling plot point from season one that wasn't addressed, but I'll be patient.

Season Two, Ep 2. "Makes the ice truck killer look like a ******* artist." Esme is a little new on the job for letting her personal life get in the way. The parallels with the past and the present are uncanny, almost too uncanny. I knew that wasn't Chino following Dexter. I knew Deb has no plans on moving out of Dexter's apartment. Did Chino know Dexter was there when he was being questioned with his lawyer? Is that Keith Carradine playing Frank Lundy? Why all this discussion about not liking the name "Bay City Butcher"...if they don't like the name, why can't they just change it? Felt kind of bad for Deb when she freaked out over the tape. Even getting to the office, the first concern of Deb is where her brother is. Lundy nailed it when he said Doakes doesn't play well with others. Why was Rita so nasty to Dexter? "There's something balancing about that kind of consistency." Deborah really isn't ready to go back to work, but she's not going to admit that ever, Wow, Rita, Dexter, and the kids were the only people present at Paul's funeral? That speaks volumes. It's most fitting that Rudy is haunting Dexter. LaGuerta is playing a dangerous game with Esme. Apparently Dexter is the last thing on Chino's mind right now. Chino was actually going to kill that little boy? "That kind of talk is just going to get you closer to your victims." "I'm not so much doing this to you as I am doing it for me.?" Was a little surprised that Dexter didn't lie to Rita. I wonder what Dexter's next move is? His plate is a little full for rehab. Now he wants Deb to stay? Loved the final moment at the water.

Season Two, Ep 3. Loved Dexter making his mental shopping list during the AA meeting. The last thing Dexter needs in his life right now is another woman. Rita's feeling of moral superiority regarding addiction is really annoying. Don't understand Dexter's relationship with Rita at all. He doesn't love her, but doesn't want to lose her either. Is Dexter just pretending that he doesn't know Doakes is following him all the time? I like that Deb was appointed to Lundy's team and Dexter wasn't. She needs a little space from Dexter, living together and working together. "I'm a fed, my suit proves it." Why were the team standing against the wall like a lineup? This car salesman is a murderer? "Even Roger's hair is a lie." Of course Dexter gets reassigned...can't keep him and Deb apart for more than ten seconds. "He was in and out of jail, but my heart raced whenever I saw him." I bet Deb asked to be taken off Lundy's team because she doesn't know Dex has been reassigned. "Nothing stays buried...perhaps not even me." I don't think that girl believed a second of Dexter's share. her accent is terrible. I don't like this girl at all, not sure if it's the character or the actress, but i don't like her. She thinks she knows everything. "Rita will have to understand"...yeah, that's gonna happen. Did he really think Rita was just going to accept his decision because he wanted her to? LaGuerta needs to back off trying to handle Esme. Why does Dexter think he can just make Rita accept him not going to meetings? That's never going to happen. Carradine played that scene with Deborah. Not sure what kind of games Matthews is playing with LaGuerta? Doakes' obsession with Dexter is getting really creepy. Lundy really caught Dexter off guard. Was that Doakes' tire Dexter slashed? Just remembered where I know the actor playing the car salesman. He played an alcoholic lawyer getting sober and falling for Allison Janney's Bonnie on Mom. This is the first victim of Dexter's to really mess with his head. This is the most conversation he has ever had with one of his victims. I guess he's really wants to hold onto Rita, but I agree with him being in NA is a mistake. Michael C Hall nailed Dexter's share. Loved that Doakes knows that Dexter slashed his tire. "I need to tell my mother and sister that they're safe and he's rotting in hell." I still think Dexter and NA is a mistake. Once again another fictional story around recovery ignoring the fact that in the rooms, men only sponsor men and women only sponsor women.

Season Two, Ep 4. Do we really care about Rita's mother, outside of what actress is playing her? The writers seem to enjoy making Rita look like an idiot. OK, this thing with Esme and her ex is getting distracting...bring it directly into the story or drop it. Michael C Hall has no chemistry with this actress. "before you accept who you are, you have to now who you are." Good to see James Remar, it's been a few minutes since we've seen him. "You don't kill this many people because it's a chore, you do it because you like it." The actress playing Rita's mother does look familiar. Just realized that's JoBeth Williams playing Rita's mom. It would be nice to see Lundy and Deborah hook up because the amount of time Deb spends with her "brother" is just not natural. Rita sure didn't waste anytime suggesting Dex find another sponsor. Loved that Rita cuffed Gabriel to the bed to protect herself. Didn't realize Deb and Gabriel were at Dexter's house until Dexter walked in on them. Why would she bring a man to Dexter's house. She really needs to move out. This woman who Ange was questioning is definitely hiding something. Was Deborah actually trying to make Lundy jealous? How is algae relevant to the case? OK, why did the bring Esme onto the canvas if she's just a nut case? To make Matthews look bad? I didn't know Doakes was married once. Why don't I understand people who would rather die than go to prison? Glad LaGuerta got her job back and without stepping on toes or going against protocol. OK, Lila telling Dexter that it's wrong for him to get another sponsor is way out of line. Is she going to start stalking him now? OK, Lila being aroused by corpses just seems a little convenient to keep her on the show. "That doctor didn't even see the monster inside of ya." Hating that Lia is luring Dexter back under her spell but not surprised. I knew that woman was hiding something from Angel. I can't believe what that newscaster said. That Gabriel has a deadly disarming smile in the tradition of Jack Nicholson. Whoa!!! LaGuerta was seeing Esme's ex to get her job back? Did not see that coming. Didn't think LaGuerta was that calculated. Dexter in full self-preservation mode...I like it. Is that part of Dexter's issues? Suicidal tendencies?

Season Two, Ep 5 The opening narration about long lines was kind of corny. Don't understand how people think the Nay City Butcher is some kind of hero. "Yeah, but I think we had different homework assignments." The way Dexter was looking at that snow globe was kind of creepy. My meth lab's in the sock drawer." Deb was wrong for going through that guy's drawers was wrong and her using the attempt on her life as an excuse for what she's doing doesn't fly with me. How did that armadillo get in Rita's house under its own power? Can't believe Rita's mom just flat out told Dexter to leave. Loved the way they slipped grown Dexter into that flashback. Doakes is going to get to walk on both of those shootings? Lila's obsession with knowing exactly what's going on with Dexter should make her a victim at some point. Lundy is determined to make Deb lighten up. "Good news, you've got the place to yourself if you want to tie up Gabriel again." Dexter wouldn't kill Rita's mother, would he? It's so strange that Dexter is being the closest he can be to honest with Lila more than anyone else on the canvas. LaGuerta and Doakes have a romantic past? That explains a lot. I'm hoping Deb is wrong about Gabriel. Julie Benz nailed that scene where she actually stood up to her mother, which kind of surprised me. Michael C Hall scared the hell out of me in that scene in the bar. God, can Dexter spend one hour of his life without getting a phone call from some female in his life? The scene lost its power with Lia's phone call. Did they take Gabriel away from Deb so she could hook up with Lundy? They're leading that way. I KNEW she was wrong about Gabriel. Loving Keith Carradine. Lila's determination to stay in Dexter's life is definitely going to complicate his relationship with Rita? Cannot believe Gail s determined to stay under Rita's foot to keep an eye on Dexter...that can't be good for anyone. Loved the final shot of the security camera.

Season Two, Ep 6. Wonder who's going to catch Dexter on the security footage? Dexter's mother was a cop too? Oh, she was a CI. The relationship between Dexter and his parents is getting overly complex for my tastes. Why does Doakes think Dexter is an addict? Deb was seeing red when Lundy wanted Dexter to accompany him to the new scene. Who was this guy deb and Lundy were questioning? Lundy must have seen Dexter on the security tape. That glitch with Lundy's security camera was extremely convenient. Very slick of Lila giving partial credit to Dexter's step work to Rita and Gail. It always cracks me up when Rita gets frisky. So sick of Deb whining about being neglected by her father. Lila's voicemail was completely calculated. Dexter and Deb sleep in the same room? Seriously? Deborah is really all worked up over Lundy and Dexter. Not sure why LaGuerta is protecting Doakes? It can't be their history revealed in the last episode. First Lila becomes Dexter's sponsor and now she has sex with him? Can this show make NA look anymore ridiculous? Did she actually have the nerve to refer to herself a good sponsor? Rita is seriously addicted to Dexter. How many times has she dumped him and called him back an hour later since I began this show? OK, I don't think LaGuerta is trying to protect Doakes, but why is she trying to protect Dexter? A grown man eating animal crackers? This guy's a copycat? Is Dexter getting a taste of his own medicine? "No, I'm still going to kill you, I have to, but I don't need to." Why did Dexter that close to fixing things with Rita and then just totally messed with her head?

I had a few friends in AA and through them I learned what "Step 13" was.
It's an unrecognized step in twelve step programs where attendees hook up with other members for non-recovery-related "activities" that take place in private settings. ;)

All these references reminded me of that.

Season 2, Ep 7. I was pretty sure that opening sex scene with Dexter and Lila was a dream and I was waiting to find out whose dream it was. Deb needs to get out of Dexter's house and love life, and get a house and love life of her own. She's the last one to be giving anyone relationship advice. "I'm tired of reacting to the moves of Agent Lundy and his super posse." Love how no matter the team gets to finding Dexter, he never even comes close t breaking a sweat. I definitely believe Doakes has no sense of humor. LaGuerta is probably helping Dexter by keeping Doakes off his ass. Nice to see Margo Martindale again and I like that Carmen is on Dexter's side and vice versa. Dexter considers himself the root of all evil? That's deep. Lundy is definitely getting under deb's skin, even if she doesn't know it yet Love Dexter throwing Doakes off his trail. OK, Lila talking that hostess into a table was way too creepy for my tastes. This is what I'm talking about...Lila said it's been weeks since they've discussed his recovery...that's the whole purpose of the relationship. He's really falling for her and no good can come of that. Rita's mom seems to be trying to raise her grandchildren right under her nose. The Angel/Star Trek scene was pointless. Loved Deb falling under the spell of Chopin. Deb running into naked Lila was hysterical. "Requiem for Demonic Dexter"...that was funny. What was that file hid on Doakes' desk? The blood report Doakes told him wasn't done yet...Dexter's the man! It's almost as if Dexter is gaslighting Doakes. Saw Deb breaking up with Gabriel coming, but damn that was harsh. I'm glad there's something inside Dexter that sees something wrong with him and Lila. Whose house was that where Dexter and Lila had sex? I know Dexter will be seeing Rita's son's school project. It's not Rita's mom's place to be disciplining her grandchildren. "You don't leave any room for anyone else to exist." Took a little longer than it should have, but it's about Rita kicked her mom out.. "Your past is about as f*cking" mysterious as Jimmy Hoffa." Somehow I think putting Doakes on administrative leave is going to make him even more dangerous to Dexter. Lundy is starting rub off on Deborah....finally, she might stop thinking about Dexter for five minutes. Jennifer Carpenter played that scene with Carradine where she admitted she might need Lundy. The first Deb/Lundy kiss, didn't see that coming so soon. Lila has some sort of plan for that $18,000 and I'm pretty sure it has something to do with Dexter. Not sure which one is more addicted to Dexter...Lila or Rita. OK< it's official, Lila is a straight up psychopath.

Season Twp, Ep 8. Keith Gordon directed this episode. "And now I share the kitchen with a cobra and a mongoose." Deb threatening to move out...she's not going anywhere. Dexter's attempts to have it all are failing dismally. :That's exactly how Hitler walked." Lila Still seems to be trying to tighten her noose on Dexter. She definitely started that fire on purpose. Lundy is really trying to get inside Dexter's head. Loved Bruce Weitz as Lenny Asher. Lundy's not using Deb to get to Dexter is he? Lila just won't take n for an answer. "I would love to taste your toast." Looks like Dexter has finally caught on to Lila, thank God. Can't believe it's taken them this long to figure out that the Bayy Harbor Butcher is a cop. "The Lia Experiment is officially over." "Yu are more dangerous than my addiction will ever be."

Season Two, Ep 9. "I already know who I am and I'm tired of fighting it. I think Lundy knows more than he's letting on. Is LaGuerta in love with Doakes? Where is he going? You could see it all over her face that Deborah doesn't want anyone to know about her and Lundy? It's a little convenient that they're suspecting everybody in the station except Dexter. What exactly is Doakes doing that he had to go all the way to Haiti to do it? So Doakes has a history we haven't been privy too yet. Dexter needs to stop whining to these technicians or he's going to raise their suspicions. I can't believe Lila showed up at the station, I'm so over her. God, I wish he would just kill her. I love Deb being indignant because Lundy doesn't tell her everything he's doing. Doakes a trained assassin? Shocker. How did Doakes get the slides out of Dexter's place? These people actually think Doakes is the killer? Seriously? Deb really doesn't want to move out of Dex's house, no mater what she says. The camerawork and editing when Dexter was checking those slides were excellent. I love after Dexter's description of Lila, Angel still wants her. Poor Angel really needs to get laid, and if Lila is the one, so be it. OK, it's obvious now...LaGuerta is in love with Doakes. It does make the FBI look like idiots though...this close and wrong. Rita's timing is uncanny, the woman can't live without Dexter, whether she'll admit it or not. Is Doakes really going to be framed for this? Wow, didn't see Lundy and Deb going public like that. That was funny. How'd Doakes get back from Haiti so fast? I don't see how he can kill Doakes and walk away.

Season Two, Ep 10. Very curious to see how they're going t get Dexter out of this without him killing Doakes cause I just don't see that happening. He can't keep Doakes locked up forever, that will lead people straight to Dexter. Rita has incredible timing. She doesn't consider Dex being under bodyguard even the least bit suspicious? OK, i really don't like the way Rita is messing with Dexter...she doesn't want to date, but uses her kids to manipulate him? And Dexter feels guilt about it? I guess LaGuerta made it officially that she's in love with Doakes and she's the main reason Dexter can't kill Doakes. Once again, Deb is observed talking to Dexter like a girlfriend, not a sibling. Wasn't Doakes trying to get his phone right out of The Brady Bunch in the Grand Canyon? Dexter's speech to Doakes about his decision was pure evil and nasty, rare emotions I've gotten from Dexter. Doakes really messed up when he mentioned Harry. I always wanna giggle when I see Michael C Hall and Jennifer Carpenter in their "teenage: wigs. James Remar was excellent in that scene though. So Lundy thinks the case is over? Angel, Dexter, Rita, Rita's kids and Angel's daughter? No good can come from that. Erik King looked hilarious with an afro. Dexter seemed genuinely angry when Doakes accused him of having no conscience. Not surprised that there are secrets around Harry's death. "You can't play on my feelings...I don't have any." Matthews was dancing as fast as he could with Dexter and I don't believe a word Matthews send and don't believe Harry committed suicide. I kind of enjoyed watching Lundy nail LaGuerta. This news about Harry seems to have really punched Dexter in the gut. Selling roofies on a basketball court? When is TV going to catch up to the fact that drug dealers don't hang in parks or on corners anymore? "I though the novelty of my AARP discount would wear off and you would get tired of me." Lundy and Deborah are growing on me. I hope Angel doesn't get hurt being used by Lila, he's a nice guy. He's killed someone else in front of Doakes? How can he not kill him now?

Season Two, Ep 11. Doakes wants to get free on his own terms, but that's not happening. He has be real friend to Dexter, which will never happen. Can't believe he told him not to answer the phone. Lila is framing Dexter for something and I'm not sure how she can do that, We can do without teenage Deborah. Why is Lila trying to frame Angel for rape, why would she do that to Angel instead of Baxter. I hope Dexter doesn't fall under Lials's spell again. "You warned me about her, but my dick wouldn't listen." Angel doesn't deserve the collateral damage he is about to become.. Love Jonathan Banks, hope he's going to be around for awhile. "For such a neat monster, I'm making an awfully big mess." Deborah demanding threatening to shove cuffs up the ass of a fellow cop just doing his job was stupid. Doakes can't catch a break. I like the way Lundy takes responsibility for his mistakes and never tries to pass the buck. Rita does this really annoying thing where she demands attention from Dexter and once she gets it, she fights it tooth and nail. Who did those guys think Doakes was? How did Doakes let Dexter get him back in the cage? Loved Dexter's speech to James about their conversations being a release for him. This is the second season of a six season show, so we know he's not turning himself in. LaGuerta is willing put her job at risk for Doakes? I'm sorry, but I would love to see Dexter murder Lila. Nice twist that Lila has no paper trial. That's the beginning of the end for her. Why aren't Rita and Deb seeing that Dexter is putting his affairs in order? Deborah didn't find it strange that a guy Dexter's age was preparing a will? Deb played that scene with Lila with so much bile. There's no freaking way he's going to confess to Deborah. Definitely did not see that final scene coming, which seems to be a staple with this show.

Here comes the second season finale. The thought of Lila armed with the knowledge of who Dexter is really gives me chills. I understand Lila wanting to keep Dexter's secret but why did she feel she had to kill Doakes? Even though I'm pretty sure Doakes survived that explosion. Him bein dead now would be way too convenient. It feels like Dexter is going to be linked to Lila forever after this and his only escape is to murder her. OMG, Doakes is really dead? LaGuerta is going to lose it. Loved the re-working of the opening credit sequence as Dexter seems to have found a new reason to live. Didn't Rita say in the last scene she didn't want to go quickly with Dexter? She's just as obsessed with him as :Lila is but in a different way and you know as soon as Dexter finds out that Lila knows who he is, he will have to kill her or dump Rita. Deb is starting to act with Lundy the way Lila does with Dexter. What's so romantic about ice fishing? I can't believe he thinks he can trust her. What's he going to tell Rita? Glad they didn't remove Dexter's brain the way it looked. SI Deb as dumb as she's appearing to be right now? Maybe she'll get her brain back next season. Lundy needs to get out of town before Deb smothers him to death. He has to see it and I wouldn't put it past him to already feeling smothered by Deb. Why is Lundy not putting his foot down with Deb? They really are trying to make us think he's going to die? I have debated on a daily basis if i had to die by fire or drowning which i would choose and I've never been able to make a choice. That blanket Dexter covered himself with should have been wet, otherwise it would have gone up instantly. Perfect final scene for the second season.

Okay, Season Three Opener. Wow, that recap of season 2 definitely went on a little too long. No changes in the opening credit sequence, thanks for that. Didn't really get the point of Dexter at the dentist. Nice to see Rita loosening up sexually. Love the photo of James Remar in uniform. Like Jennifer Carpenter's haircut. Really loving David Zayas as Angel, I just wish the writers would make him a little smarter. "I'm looking to hold some product."- Seriously? "Fine I guess you dick can suck itself from now." They have quickly established that Freebo is one of Dexter's victims who deserves what's coming to him. Was that Liza Lapira as the IAB detective? That fight scene with Dexter and Freebo's guy could have been lit more effectively. Rita's timing continues to be uncanny, "God created pudding and then he rested." I swear if Dexter were ever to disappear, Rita would evaporate into a puddle of water. OMG, Dexter killed an ADA? I'm thinking that the crime scene unit should find Dexter's prints somewhere in the house if they know what they're doing, yes? Love, love, love, love Jimmy Smits. His character is a LaGuerta ex-lover? Is Smits' character the Mayor of Miami? That gut playing Quinn looks so familiar but I can't place him. LOVED Dexter at Dad's Day, that was hysterical. OK, we get it, Rita's son thinks of Dexter as a new dad, can we move on? That scene with Dexter and Prado at the crime scene was excellent, one of the few scenes where I've actually seen Dexter sweat. Had almost forgotten what a great actor Smits is. I wish Deb was as good at her job as she thinks she is. I'm sure she's going to go ballastic when she learns she's being taken off the case. This appears to be the first time that Dexter is feeling any sort of guilt about one of his victims. "Why, in your death, are you still so alive in my life?" I'm guessing this is also the anniversary of Harry's death since Deb is spitting nails because Dexter's not at the bar yet. Why is Angel covering for LaGuerta? "All I want is chocolate pudding and you and not necessarily in that order."

Season Three, Ep 2. Rita's pregnant, no good can come of that. Maybe if something happens between Deb and Quinn, she'll stop obsessing about every move Dexter makes. "Step away from the incense." Am I really supposed to care about Masuka and his article? That scene between Jimmy Smits and Lauren Velez was excellent. Just looked it up and confirmed that is Liza Lapira playing IAB Detective Amado. Harry with the baby and the hypodermic...how creepy was that? It's a little convenient the way they keep putting Miguel in Dexter's face. Deb's colorful language is coming off as forced and annoying. She's trying not to freak Dexter out, but, in her deepest soul, Rita is jumping with joy about being pregnant. She actually wanted Miguel's wife to know. Miguel is expecting overnight results, he needs to chill a bit. The idea of becoming a father is really messing with Dexter's head I hope it doesn't make him sloppy. Dexter's the only one who knows Teegan is dead? "I've got a girlfriend and a baby waiting on my promise to come back." The convenient protection of Dexter already seems to be taking shape. That fantasy with Astor and Harry was confusing and creepy. Liked that actor playing Javier. Looks like Ramon could be serious trouble down the line. I hope Miguel and LaGuerta reignite that flame because LaGuerta really needs to get laid. Rita's keeping the baby...I'm shocked. Not for one second did I believe she was even considering aborting this child but she wanted to do it with Dexter. Freebo killing Teegan and then hiding out at her house...what a moron. An ADA going vigilante? That's not good. That final confrontation between Dexter and Miguel was brilliant and Dexter's handling of it was genius, excellent work by Michael C Hall.

Season 3, Episode 3. I knew I knew that actor who's playing Anton...he played the Mayor who got shot and paralyzed on Blue Bloods. Rita's like a pig in sh*t about this baby. That actor in the grocery store looks familiar. I don't care about Masuka and his stupid article. Angel is always four steps behind Dexter. I'm echoing Dexter's question as to why Miguel is trying so hard to be his BFF? It's just unrealistic that Miguel wants to spend all his spare time with Dexter, even if they are sharing a secret. This is not the sharpest police department out there. I'm no obstetrician, but isn't a bit early for Rita to be having morning sickness? Damn, who rammed the stick up Ramon's butt? How long does Dexter think he can pretend that he's happy about this baby? He's not fooling too many people right now. Dexter seemed thrown to being thanked for his latest victim, Freebo. Jeez, Miguel has nothing else to do but hang out with Dexter all of a sudden? I wish Smits would settle on whether or not he wants use that accent. Who is Deborah to talk to Anton about that? Why did Miguel want Freebo's body exhumed? I think Rita knows Dexter is not feeling this baby but she doesn't give a damn. Hey, this is the first time I've seen Anne Ramsey since Mad About You. Did Deborah seriously call herself the smart one in the family? They still don't know that Freebo is dead? Miguel arranged a secret meeting under the bridge just to tell Dexter that? The shirt. that's why. Miguel's obsession with Dexter is beyond creepy. It actually rivals Deb's obsession. Is something going to happen between Anton and Deb? Nathan sealed his fate with pictures of Rita's kids on his computer. Is Dexter supposed to making a turn now toward being a father? Seems a little sudden.

Season 3, Ep 4. OK, I just noticed that Michael C Hall is billed as executive producer on this episode, always a red flag for me as a dip in quality of a show. For me, MASH became unwatchable when Alan Alda became executive producer. Keith Gordon directed this episode. The breaking the baby news scene was awkward and silly. Rita's son's obsession with Dexter becoming his dad is creepy. I'm not buying Rita's whole reluctance about getting married. She's full of crap. And she's going to be disappointed if she thinks Dexter is going to learn to love her. Miguel's idea of telling Ramon is a terrible one. Astor's feeling about Dexter completely changing with news of the baby is just a little contrived for my tastes. Did that woman really think they were going to let her keep the body in her house? Glad Rita got fired, she deserved it. If she had concentrated a little more on her job and a little less on Dexter...Dexter shouldn't have approached Ramon unless Miguel had asked him to. LaGuerta still isn't thinking straight because of Doakes. Loving Quinn and Deborah being the emotional equivalent of Olivia Benson and Elliott Stabler. Angel and the undercover hooker...what was that all about? Why is it so important too Miguel that Ramon know the truth? Angel's speech to that detective was SO corny. Was it revealed before this episode that Ramon is a cop? If it was, I missed it. "I'm gonna kick his Cadillac-driving ass" was a stupid line. Dexter is really making everyone else working this case look like freaking idiots. What kind of idiot is Ramon? A drunk cop starting a barfight? That scene with Dexter and Miguel on the beach seemed pointless. Dexter's proposal is probably going to be the biggest mistake for all of them.

Season 3, Ep 5. The expression on Dexter's face looking at the sonogram was priceless. Why did Dexter think parenthood was an inevitability? I love that as clueless as he might be, Dexter is smart enough to have the sonogram with him to show to people like a regular future parent. Just when I think Dexter is doing everything right, he tells Rita he wants to keep his apartment. "Appreciating the wisdom of those three little words...no children allowed." ,Considering all the feelings Dexter seems to be going through in this episode, why the hell did he even propose to Rita? "I love the smell of ass in the morning." They seem to be pushing Deb at Anton but I'd rather see her with Quinn. Wendell worked for Freebo? What's the matter with Masuka? "Wow, somebody needs a hug, I would offer but I don't know what I would catch." Where was Deborah when the sensitivity chips were passed out? Is Angel's hooker really a hooker? I don't think it was intended for laughs, but I cracked up when Dexter he doesn't feel like house hunting. It's weird how ever since they shared their secret, Miguel feels like he has to spend every spare minute he has with Dexter. He seems to be blowing off everyone else in his life to spend time with Dexter. Loved Quinn sticking up for Deb in front of Ramon. La Guerta said this was going to be a joint investigation but it's not looking that way. I liked Harry's advice to Dexter. I'm getting the feeling that, in another attempt to protect Dexter from himself, Rita will lose that baby. Deborah looked really upset to find another woman in Anton's apartment. I don't get why Dexter is leading Rita on the way he is. As Miguel continues sticking to Dexter like glue, will it force him to be Dexter's next victim?

Season 3, Ep 6. The relationship developing between Dexter and Miguel has a real cringe factor to it. I like the fact that Harry might be keeping Dexter from trusting Miguel too much, whether he likes it or not. "Every time you let someone get close, it ends badly." Dexter's right, though, Miguel isn't going anywhere. Talk about collateral damage, Wendell so did not deserve this. Leave it to Deb to think what is happening is all about her. As nuts as he might be, I don't see Ramon murdering a kid. So Miguel has a questionable professional past? Didn't see that coming. There's a definite sexual tension between Deb and Anton. Not sure about what Miguel is planning to do for Dexter. Sad to hear Camilla is being written off but not surprised...Margo Martindale is one of the busiest actresses in the business and she wasn't doing much here. Now I'm thinking I might be wrong about Ramon because no one but Deb believes it. Martindale's final scene with Michael C Hall was lovely. Rita working for Miguel's wife, yeah that's a good thing. I guess Miguel doesn't always play by the rules. What does IAB have on Deb that they can force her to do what they're forcing her to do? The writers seem to be giving Miguel a little more substance than he originally seemed to be at the beginning of the season, a little more complex. Dexter needs to run, not walk, from Miguel. So Angel apparently has a serious past with hookers? That has to bite him in the ass at some point. Love Dexter's toolkit. Harry really messes with Dexter's head, but he's more right than wrong. Was that Blake Gibbons playing the guy guy Miguel's helping escape? After everything we've seen. was Miguel really setting Dexter up? Ramon is nuts, but still don't think he killed Wendell. Don't get what Ramon was doing with that bottle of soda. Not sure if I believe Quinn's story about the IAB agent. I think this is the first Dexter victim we've seen to declare his innocence.

Season 3, Ep 7. Are we supposed to believe that Rita really doesn't see that Dexter is not into this wedding or is she just seeing what she wants to see? They sure are stretching out Camilla's final days. Those childhood shots of Michael C Hall were adorable. I have a feeling that turning in his badge and gun just might make Ramon even more dangerous. I'm over Masuka and all of his poor me poor me nobody likes me routine. "I'll bet a night of lap dances I know who did it." What does Miguel really want to do to Ellen Wolfe? I cannot believe these people still think Freebo is alive? Why are they setting Anton up? "Taking an innocent life could be a dangerous precedent." Rita giving relationship advice...talk about the blind leading the blind. Dexter's not having a best man...how do you not have a best man? I couldn't tell what that newspaper clipping said about Ellen and I think that wasn't an accident. I agree with Dexter, I don't understand Miguel's hatred of Ellen. "Until you find the perfect keylime pie, I have something to live for." I loved when Miss IAB referred to Quinn as "a waste of clothes." Loving Deb being so tickled with herself for figuring out the case. Who is Rita to tell Dexter who he can invite and who he can't? Just because Dexter doesn't know the guy's name? Albert Chung does look like Masuka. I'm beginning to wonder if Miguel's elevator doesn't go to the top floor. Why would Dexter ask Prada to be his best man? I'm glad Dexter helped Camilla.

Season 3, Ep 8. Miguel was acting like a teenager in that opening scene with Dexter, like they were having a sleepover. I'm really tired of listening to Rita whining about Dexter not helping her with the wedding. Glad that Deb and Anton finally did it because Deb really needed to get laid. Why was Deb so shocked to learn that Quinn was paying Anton in cash? Is something going to happen between Ellen and LaGuerta? I was relieved when Dexter decided to call off the Freeta murder, but wasn't surprised when Miguel talked him back into it. Dexter seems to be defying a lot of his father's advice lately. Angel's voicemail to Barbara: worst voicemail ever. This Angel/Barbara thing seems to be moving at super speed. Jimmy Smits was excellent in that final scene.

Season 3, Ep9. I didn't realize how unhinged Miguel really is. Once it was confirmed that Miguel didn't come home the same time Dexter did, I was convinced that he killed Ellen Wolfe, That makeup job on Anton's back was disgusting, it literally made me look away. How does Musaka get any work done doing all that thinking from below his waist? I confirmed that that is indeed Jesse Borrego playing George King. "he's held life and death in his hands...he likes it." What kind of detective can Deb really be if she has to pick a blood spatter expert's brain about how to crack a perp? Well, at least Dexter is onto Miguel, even if it took a little longer than it should. Miguel pretty much charmed the pants off of Rita. Deb channeling Elliott Stabler was laughable. Dexter apologizing to Ellen? Seriously? Miguel going off half cocked is going to get Dexter hung up somehow. He needs to sever ties with Miguel before it's too late. Dexter was lucky he didn't get caught in that cemetery. Dexter's right, Miguel does think he's untouchable. Ramsey's corpse makeup was SO creepy. Miguel has absolutely no gilt or remorse about what he did. They wanna trick King into lawyering up? Whose blood was on that last swab Dexter was looking at. Glad that found Anton, I was just getting invested in him and Deb. LaGuerta's taking Ellen's death harder than I expected> What's up with that? OK, didn't really get exactly what Miguel did to piss Dexter off so much.

Season 3, Ep 10. I guess I'm supposed to be sympathetic with Dexter's predicament right now but Dexter put himself in this position. Rita isn't the least bit suspicious as to why Miguel wants to cater their wedding? Dexter should have gotten out of the offer when Miguel made it, it's too late to refuse now. What good is it for Dexter to let Rita think that Miguel is having an affair? Deb was wrong for having Anton over while babysitting. Sometimes I swear Deb swears just for the sake of swearing, it feels so forced and affected sometimes. Why would she have Anton over and then flip out on the guy? Deb gets more annoying with every episode, just like Rita. "If my show does not make people vomit and have an erection at the same time, my people will be let down." "A hooker is a terrible thing to waste." How did Dexter get into Miguel's office? Is access to a DA's office that easy? Why is Miguel so desperate to cling to Dexter? Miguel looked like he was going to cry when Dexter walked out of his office. Can't believe LaGuerta is questioning that bartender...I don't care how many times she called her...this guy had no motive, looking for sex is kind of lame for a motive. "No one will know that Prince Charming knocked you up before the ball." LaGuerat needs to stop taking out her grief regarding Ellen on everybody else. I hope Miguel is not thinking about having sex with LaGuerta. That's a complication in his life he doesn't need right now. Miguel, saved by the knock. They keep taking the power in the relationship away from Miguel and giving it back to Dexter. Can't believe Syl actually showed up at LaGeurta's, did not see that coming. And the power shifts back. He actually found that ring? Seriously? Masuka and the party planner...how cute was that? Vigilante justice doesn't seem to be like Angel. That scene on the roof was awesome. Another 11:00 reveal I didn't see coming. Dexter in the deep.

There’s a whole subplot about her being into him. Whereas he to me is plain asexual and the rest is masking.

I don't think Dexter is attracted to Deb but she's definitely attracted to him.

Season Three, Ep 11 Wow, Harry even found Dexter in the trunk of a car. Always been a phobia of mine, being locked in the trunk of a car. What a great surprise, but damn, locking him in the trunk of a car? Can Dexter really get away with murdering an ADA? None of the guys Dexter works with aren't jealous that Dexter made Miguel his best man? Was that Miguel toasting Dexter the same Miguel who was threatening Dexter on the roof in the last episode? So sick of watching Rita drone on about this wedding, which I'm sure is not going to happen. Deb was offended because she wasn't invited to the bachelor party? Seriously? This relationship between Angel is getting a little gooey and seems a little too good to be true. I do love the effort that Dexter often puts into sparing Deb's feelings regarding Harry. I must have missed something somewhere because I don't have a clue what was going on between Anton and Deb in that interrogation room. How is Dexter going to frame King for Miguel's murder without knowing where he is? There's some serious chemistry between Jimmy Smits and Lauren Velez, though I have a feeling it's not going to get a chance to really come to fruition. "If you need something under the table, I'm your guy....that didn't come out right." TMI, Vince. LOVED Dexter feigning shock in front of LaGuerta regarding Miguel. Why does Deb want to open up old wounds that can't be changed? Love the way Dexter always checks things out first before he makes a movie. Still trying to figure out how Dexter is going to get away with this one with one more episode in the season? That final scene was a little melodramatic.

Might as well go ahead and wrap season 3. Hate when people die with their eyes open...so creepy. Keith Gordon was again in the director's chair for this one. I can't believe Dexter still considers Miguel his best friend. Seriously? Don't like the thought of Dexter being in Ramon's cross hairs. He's crazy. Rita did just lie to Dexter. I said it the same time Dexter did. What was Ramon looking for at Dexter's place? Ramon got Dexter's slides? So nice to see that Rita has a skeleton in her closet like most humans. They just skipped over Miguel's funeral? Deborah is going to learn something she really doesn't want to know about her dad. I guess Dexter needs to keep LaGuerta quiet in order to protect himself. He's gotta kill Ramon too. I don't believe Ramon pulled a gun in a restaurant. what an idiot. I still can't believe that Dexter is going through with this wedding. Dev is really in love with Anton, not sure if he feels the same way. How did King overpower Dexter? I keep thinking about Dexter and this wedding and I keep forgetting there's a baby involved. I can't believe nobody all season figured out that Freebo is dead. I can';t believe Dexter didn't ven know about not seeing the bride before the wedding. Dexter does have a point...he does owe Rita a secret or two. I'm scratching my head trying to figure out how Dexter can continue to do what he does now that he has a wife and kids. Solid season finale. I think I'll keep watching. I've heard though that the show takes a serious dip in quality after season 4.

Okay, ready to begin season four and since I heard that show's quality decreases after season 4, I'm assuming this is the John Lithgow season, which won Lithgow an Emmy. I could have definitely lived without the image of Lithgow's naked ass. Little disappointed they just skipped over the birth of Dexter's child, seems like a missed opportunity to me. That image of the two of them in the bloody bathtub was chilling. Aster is beginning to annoy me in the tradition of Sally Draper on Mad Men. Loved Anton asking Deb to tevo Jon Stewart when he did. Very glad Anton and Deb are still together, maybe she'll let Dexter live his own life for awhile. Where have I seen that actress playing the prosecutor before? I'm still wondering why every other word out of Deb's mouth is a variation of f*uck? So why did Dexter screw up in court? Loved that suit LaGeurta was wearing. So it looks like they might have romantic interest for Quinn since it looks like he and Deb aren't happening. Deb doesn't seem happy unless she's whining about something. Interested to see how they're going to connect Benito Lopez with Lithgow's character. Did Rita just interrupt Dexter at work to sing to the baby? Masuka is beginning to annoy me too...this guy is am uneasy combination of needy and self-absorbed..."I swear by my uncircumsized dick"...seriously? Angel and LeGuerta...this should have happened two seasons ago. I guess that's why they glossed over his breakup with Barbara. Rita is so Joan Crawford with her kids but a total wimp with Dexter. Dexter is a grown man why does Deb feel she has to defend him whenever anybody questions anything he says? Didn't see the return of Keith Carradine's character coming. Nice tp see the glamorously aging Adrienne Barbeau as a woman from Harry's past. Which reminds me, we haven't seen Harry yet in this episode, which worries me because I loves me some James Remar. The way Dexter looks at those blood slides is SO creepy.. He's turning a former gym into his new playground? Beginning to think there is no connection between Benito Lopez and Lithgow's character. That cop who delayed Dexter looked familiar. "Maybe I cam squeeze in a power nap...or not." Loved Dexter telling his son that he kills people. He seems genuinely happy about being a father. Carradine must be after Lithgow. Deb has a picture of her and Anton on her desk already? They really need to give Masuka a life. "I'm killing for two now." What was with jumpy Dexter in the playground? Rita's timing is unbelievable...whatever you're doing can wait, did she really say that to him. Lithgow is scaring the crap out of me already. Nice twist at the end.

Season 4, Ep 2. The recaps are getting too long. It's like an excuse to make up for lack of screentime of the actual episode. For a minute it looked like this accident had affected Dexter's memory, but I guess not. What reason would the authorities have to search Dexter's vehicle? Rita's timing remains impeccable. Loved when Angel told LaGuerta to leave her hair down. What a sweet moment. Angel found a different body than the one that Dexter lost? Masuka really needs to get laid. So glad to see Harry again, i was beginning to get worried. Dex is experiencing some memory loss. "If I hadn't already gone through that phase in college, I'd kiss you." Is Quinn really ready to put his job in jeopardy over this reporter? Why is it Lundy's responsibility to inform Deb of his return to Miami? "Blood on the cactus"...sounds like a murder mystery. Was that Richard Gilliland as the guy Deb was questioning? Yeah, that's him. Did I miss it, or has Deb not told Lundy about Anton? Does anyone know what was in that spray bottle that Dexter used to remove that blood spot from the boxing ring? Nobody else knows Benny is dead? Like that Deb was finally honest with Lundy and her complete self-absorption about his return to Miami being all about her? Rita was a little over the top with her reaction to Dexter's car. Why is Quinn all of a sudden acting like Miguel last season? Little fuzzy on Trinity's victimology. Sometimes Dexter is too smart for his own good.

Season 4, Ep 3. OK, Rita is going to be driving Deter to and from work? How is that supposed to go? "The last thing we need is a dangerous presence in our neighborhood." Why is Aster all of a sudden acting like an entitled little diva? Are the cops supposed to think that this woman committed suicide from that location? The way Trinity talked her into jumping was chilling. Dexter seems less trusting of Harry than he was in previous seasons. Did Rita just refuse Dexter a cup of coffee? Is there a connection between Johnny Rose and Trinity? Surprised that Deb is the woman who thinks there's more to this "jumper" than everyone else thinks. Is Trinity Lundy's man or is he a copycat? Loved the neighborhood watch meeting. Glad that Angel and LaGuerta haven't given up on each other. Deb seems afraid of Anton and Lundy running into each other. Wow can't believe they just started shooting in broad daylight like that. Dexter being chased by the neighborhood watch, how funny was that? God, Masuka really needs to get a life. Wonder who Trinity's imaginary drinking partner was? I missed something, why does Dexter think Quinn is dirty? Technically, Dexter is not a police officer, he just works for the police? Whoa, Deb is sick of Anton already? Deb is seriously blowing off Anton. Why hasn't Dexter cleaned his door?

Season 4, Ep 4. Rita would lose it if she really knew what was going on inside her husband. I love how excited Dexter is for having three days to himself. God that actor playing the blood guy looks SO familiar but can't place him. OK, Dexter's next victim is a female cop? Not clear on what LaGuerta's issues are with Lundy. Looks like Lundy is officially in Trinity's crosshairs now. A few episodes LaGuerta wanted to shut down this thing with Angel and now she wants to disclose to the brass? Laughed out loud when Harry asked Dexter if he misses his family. Cannot believe that Deb was all about Anton three episodes ago and now she can't tear herself away from Lundy and her lying to Anton is totally unconvincing. Why did Trinity goad that guy into assaulting him? Zoey isn't even trying to be subtle with Dexter. Deb is totally loving being the apex of a romantic triangle and I don't think plans on getting rid of either one of them. Anyone coming to Dexter for relationship advice seems very strange to me. Angel wasn't really interested in advice, he was just dying to tell someone about it. Quinn brought this on himself, LaGuerta warned him. I can't believe he thinks he can end it that easily. Trinity is the same guy Lundy is looking for. Zoey's traffic stop of Dexter made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Looks like she's going to require a little more finesse from Dexter. LaGuerta also coming to Dexter is contrived and overly cute. That scene with Zoey and Dexter in the bathroom was excellent too. wow, she broke into his house? Hope Dexter thinks to repair that cup before the family gets home. "What is it with you and rape?" Of all of Dexter's conquests, Zoey seems to be the least afraid of dying. OK, when he was talking about his family, Dexter looked genuinely insane. Michael C Hall should have won an Emmy for that scene alone. I'm assuming that was Trinity at the end, and if it was, why didn't he wait until Lundy was alone?

Gideon58
06-22-24, 04:35 PM
Season 4 Ep 5. Why would Dexter arrive at the crime scene without his ID? Kind of convenient that Lundy is dead and Deb survived. Nice to see Masuka taking what happened seriously. Cannot believe that reporter feigning concern for Quinn and then jumping on Angel for a statement. Did Trinity really want Lundy dead and only want to injure Deb? How can he control that? Trinity's confronting of the waitress about his Denver omelette was very creepy. Kind of weird the way Deb just showed Dexter her wound. Can't believe Anton just walked in on the bathroom like that. Rita needed to be smacked pretending to care about Deb and all she was worried about was the fact that Dexter still had his apartment. I'd really like to see Deb and Anton work things out but with Lundy gone and Dexter's newfound attention, I don't see that happening. LaGuerta was right to disclose about her and Angel because Angle's behavior is making it look obvious anyway. So these guys think Johnny Rose shot Deb and Lundy? Seriously? Dexter hasn't figured out yet that his privacy and sanctuary disappeared when he married Rita? She watches the guy like a hawk and questions everything he does. At least they've figured out that Trinity forced that woman to jump. "If there's anyone who understood the importance of ritual, it's you." John Lithgow was superb in that scene in the hardware store...it looked like Trinity might be feeling some remorse about what he's done. Just realized I love watching Dexter and Harry work together. I still say that Quinn continuing to have sex with this reporter is going to jeopardize his job. Of course, Dexter insisted that Deb recuperate with him and Rita, an offer I'm sure Deb jumped at. Why did she throw her meds away? Rita is being so selfish right now, I'm really not liking her much right now, actually ever since she and Dexter got married. Is Dex supposed to actually get away with what he did in that evidence room? How did he know about that tape? I remember the actor who played that security guard from an episode of Seinfeld where he played an Uber driver driving Elaine somewhere. Rita was definitely overstepping trying to psychoanalyze Deb. If Nikki was with Johnny Rose in that alley, who was the corpse that Masuka was examining? "Hell hath no fury like a meth addict scorned." Batista is going to lose it when he learns about his transfer. Dexter keeping his apartment i none of Deb's business. I am so sick of Deb, she really needs to get over herself, she thinks everyone who is happy in her life and everyone who is miserable in her life are that way because of her. Does Dexter have any women in his life that are stable? Why would Rita go to Dexter's apartment? Love that shot of Trinity through the security camera. I thought Trinity was after the security guard. Loved Harry in the passenger seat while Dexter was following Trinity. Trinity is married with children?

Season 4, Ep 6. OMG, Trinity is a minister? OK, he's not an actual minister...that would have been sick. Am I the oly one who assumed Dexter would be hanging onto his apartment? "Not a tool I haven't played wth my friend." Good thing Angel came to his senses about LaGuerta disclosing them to Matthews. Rita is like most women...they don't marry the man who is they marry the man they think they can mold him into. Dexter desn't have a clue about Rita right now. Did Deb know that the reporter was at Quinn's house? Is that why she stayed outside? Trinity's son seems a little too good to be true. Does Deb think bullying Nicki into a confession is going to work? Why is Matthews willing to transfer Batista but not LaGuerta? That remak about a cow and miilk just made Rita cme off like a bitch. "We both have a closet and we both have skeltons to keep them in." Why did Dexter give Trinity a fake name? Loving Roma Maffia as Dexter and Rita's therapist.

Season 4, Ep 7. A couple of eps ao, Aster was barely speaking to exter, now she's bum rushing him when he gets home to put up shelves for her? Dexter looks really awkward and out of place trying to pull of this husband/family man thing. I don't know about Dexter going back to Trinity's house after what happened last ep. Dexter needs to stop worrying about his sister, she's loving all the attention she's been getting since she was shot. Where do I know that actor playhng Farrell from? LaGuerta and Batista are doing a TERRIBLE job allegedly hiding their attraction to each other from the squad. What does Dexter still need to learn from Trinity before he kills him? And does he seriously think he's crushing this marriage? Quinn seems to be the only person righ now who's making Dexter sweat. Deb's headed in the wrong direction...was Dex supposed to be shocked by this? This is a little too "Into the Woods" for me." Th sight of that dying deer was heartbreaking. Trinity can't kill a deer, bu he can a wman jump off a building. Why did Dexter disobey his father? Deb keep looking straight through her brother and seeing absolutely nothing. Why is Quinn tailing Dexter? Thank God Dexter spotted Quinn. It's really hard to read Trinity right now, wonder what his next move is? Cannot believe LaGuerta and Angel believe they effectively concealing their feelings for each other...they can't be that dumb. Did Dexter just take out an innocent man?

Gideon58
06-24-24, 03:11 PM
Season 4, Ep 8 Why is Dexter troubled by the fact that he took an innocent man? I'd be very worried about him if he weren't. Is it possible that Farrell somehow framed his assistant? How does LaGuerta know the woman in the tub wasn't a bludgeoner? All of a sudden, these detectives are becoming competent? "I do really need to stab something." I still say we need to keep an eye on Trinity's son, I'm getting bad vibes from him. That's Julia Campbell playing Trinity's wife...she played the bitchy mean girl in Romy and Michele's High School Reunion. What did Deb expect Dexter to do about being taken off the case? Dexter looked absolutely bonkers when he was trying talk LaGuerta and Rita into letting him go to that conference. Trinity's really\ freaking me out right now...were those his daughter's ashes? Dexter begging Trinity for a ride to that convention was very strange. Unless he's planning to persuade Trinity to attend the convention with him. That whole thing with Deb and Quinn went right by me. Dexter thinks another kill is going to relieve his guilt about Farrell? Dexter's pushing Trinity too hard. Can't tell how much of what Dexter is doing is an act. "The best deed I can do is to rid the world of you." That DNA sweep of tall older guys doesn't sound very legal. Dexter may have gone too far. Angel and LaGuerat are getting a little sugary for my tastes. On her desk? Seriously? This reporter is making Quinn look like an idiot. "I'm using you to make you look good, but I wouldn't want to make you feel like a tool." Ten years old watching his sister take a shower...that explains a lot. Why didn't the Asian couple follow them upstairs? Cannot believe Deb agreed to an interview. What's up with Trinity the innocent Moore family? Trinity is really unraveling. LaGuerta was wearing that red suit She's nuts to take off her shirt in front of Masuka, no matter the purpose, the guy is a total perv. OK, now I'm not sure who shot Lundy and Deb either. Looks like that might be giving Rita an outside marriage dalliance to keep her out of Dexter's hair. Was Trinity really jumping? How is Deb allowed to just hold onto Lundy's ID like that? I knew Trinity would get out of that stop.

Gideon58
06-25-24, 04:22 PM
Season 4, Ep 9. I love the carrying case in which Dexter keeps his "tools." Why would Trinity destroy his son's trophies? I knew there was more to Trinity's son than I thought, this kid is really messed up, which shouldn't be surprising. That scene with Dexter and Trinity's son was really good. Can't believe Deb would rather work than eat turkey on Thanksgiving. Are there any TV characters who like Thanksgiving? Even though I saw it coming, what would possess Deb to invite Masuka to Thanksgiving? I find it hard to believe that a reporter makes the best pecan pie in the state of Florida. Is Christina going to be Trinity's next victim? I love that Dexter doesn't seem the least bit threatened by Elliott's presence at Thanksgiving. I think a real husband might be. It's weird that Christina is trying to make nice with Deb now. Jonah invited Dexter to Thanksgiving without telling his father? Loved the shirt Masuka wore to Thanksgiving and homemade chocolate lava cakes? Awesome. "Could Rebecca come out now?" WTF? That scene of Angel and LaGuerta doing the notification to the human vegetable was totally cringe-worthy. Why would Dexter snoop around Trinity's garage like that? The way Lithgow looked at that dented car gave me a chill. God, Deb can't chill out just for Thanksgiving? Why does Christina keep calling herself Quinn's girlfriend, she has to see how uncomfortable he is with the moniker. I wonder if Jonah is going to get to his father before Dexter does. Just remembered where I've seen the actress playing Rebecca before. She played Lisa Kudrow's daughter on The Comeback. Mitchell seems to have his entire family terrified of him, especially his wife. Love Dexter's genuine concern about Jonah. Angel's I love you declaration was a little corny and I knew he was waiting for her to say it back and even though she finally said it, I'm not sure I believe it. Rita should have worked a little harder at fighting off Elliott's advances, considering her constant criticism of Dexter as a husband. Masuka trying to connect with the kids was a cute throwaway moment. That was SO messed up what Trinity said during the blessing of the meal. Lithgow played the hell out of that scene. That fight scene was jaw-dropping and I have to admit I was a little disappointed with the way it ended though. I shudder to think what happens the next time Dexter and Trinity come face to face. I was impressed that Harry mentioned the welfare of Rita and the kids, did not see that coming. I don't think he's ever mentioned them before. And am I the only one who is really sick of the "let's go around the table and say what we're thankful for" thing that every TV family ever says and acts like they're the only ones who did it? Another HUGE reveal at the final moment I didn't see coming in a million years.

06-27-24, 04:15 PM
Season 4, Ep, 10. Is it really necessary that Dexter's narration reiterate stuff we already know? OK, what does Trinity have against Nick, Scott, Barb, and Abby? OMG, what is Trinity doing with this little boy? Arthur's not just a serial, he's a pedophile too? Trinity gave me chills the way he said the word "process". Does Jonah really believe what he said to Dexter? He's not there yet, but Dexter is definitely getting through to Jonah. Trinity has checked out mentally. Trinity is the first villain on this show who has actually made Dexter sweat. Does Dexter know who shot Deb and Lundy if it wasn't Trinity? I'm starting to crave an insulin shot every time Angel and LaGuerta share the screen. Clearly, Scott has had some training in "stranger danger." Scott's parents are a mess and Dexter won't offer the perfect assistance? So the working theory now is that Christine shot Deb and Lundy? Trinity must have done a number on Christine when she was growing up, she's really messed up about him. Why did he insist on Scott putting on the pajamas before allowing him to eat? That was weird.. OMG, every little thing with that baby Rita is calling Dexter, there's a new thing Rita it's called an obstetrician. Is Christine totally aware of what her father is doing and covering for him? Quinn is developing a real blind spot where Christine is concerned. OMG, she is covering for him. Loved Scott trying to get on Trinity's good side. I cannot believe Trinity did this to an innocent child he doesn't even know. "Harry's past is a minefield, but I've got other bombs to diffuse." OK, Christine isn't covering up for Trinity she's in denial about him. She's just as insane as her father. Oh God, he's like Michael Meyers. Is Quinn seriously blaming Deb because his girlfriend turned out to be a wingnut?

Gideon58
06-30-24, 02:10 AM
Season 4, Ep 11. Christine is a terrible lair. So Scott hasn't said anything to the polce or Scott about Trinity? Actually, asking Trinity for money is quite brilliant. So they haven't officially arrested her for the shooting yet? The DNA isn't proof? Quinn still thinks Christine is innocent...what an idiot. I think LaGuerta is right about Matthews he does have some kind of personal grudge with her. Why was Trinity breaking into that guy's house? Did Rita think telling Dexter about Elliott would make him stay for therapy? There really is a Kyle Butler? Is he related to Trinity? Why did Christine wait so long to lawyer up? Well I guess I was wrong abotu Quinn still believing that Christine is innocent. Why does Dexter keep asking Roita if stuff can wait? She always says no. Now she's mad because Dexter didn't go into a jealous rage when he learned about Elliott. Harryu loves to ask Dexter questions for which he has no answers. Dexter 1977 called, they want their CB lingo back. Dexter onmly confronted Elliott to pacify Rita. who fell for it hook. line. and sinker. Did Angel and LaGuerta only marry to save their jobs? Trinity seems pissed that someone else might be getting credit for his work. Loved Deb's reaction to learning who shot her. CHristine didn't do what she did to escape prosecution she did it because of her dad's rejection. "I need to be a good brother now so I can be a good serial killer later." Deb demands Dexter rush over there and then still makes it all about her. Well, the setup for the season finale was perfect.

Gideon58
06-30-24, 04:05 AM
And now, the season 4 finale. Wow, they really want u s to think Trinity is going to walk away. Rita calling about a honeymoon during a high speed chase...classic Rita. I love that Harry is sitting in the back seat. Trinity is walking around like he's on top of the world. Trinity was just planning to leave the country? His family? That scene with Dexter and Harry in the jail cell was excellent. I knew Trinity was going to be gone when Dexter got back. Is it possible that Jonah might beat Deter to killing Trinity? Wouldn't the internet whie pages still have Dexter at his old address? The police are just now talking to Scott? Seriously? Why was Deb mad at Dexter? Because he beat her to Trinity's house? Now that she knows the truth, maybe Deb will stop clinging to Dexter and demanding constant attention from him. She's CRUSHED that Dex isn't her brother. How is the Bureay taking credit for a case that really isn't wrapped? I noticed he didn't tape Trinity's head to the table? He wanted Trinity to see every thing he does. He doesn't give a damn that his daughter committed suicide. He doesn't have an iota of remorse for anything he did. A jaw=dropping final scene that had me stunned. Great season, I definitely understand Lithgow's Emmy win.

Despite my warmings about the decrease in the series' quality, I am going to go ahead and give the 5th season opener a shot. I wonder if what happened at the end of season 4 is going to affect the way Dexter conducts his life. Glad to see they haven't altered the opening credits. I can't help but wonder if the baby saw what happened. A really inappropriate time for Musaka's perverted sense of humor. I hope they don't make a big deal out of Dexter not crying. I never cried when my mother died. It was kind of dumb of Dexter to say "It was me." No surprise that Dexter's lack of emotion on the 911 call would be brought into question. I don't know if Elliott was in love with Rite, but he was attracted to her. So nice to see Kathleen Noone, who I guess is playing Dexter's stepmother or is replacing JoBeth Williams as Rita's mom. I remember the funeral director on NYPD Blue. The flashback first meeting of Dexter and Rita was cringe-worthy and that was no accident. Deb seems to be taking this harder than I imagined. I don't believe Aster...why would Dexter kid about that? Nice channeling of grief, Deb. Aster's ripping Dexter a new one was kind of annoying, but understandable. Even she could tell that Dexter's not as upset as he should be. I wanted Quinn and Deb to be together, but not like that. Interesting how honest Elliott was the Quinn. He's got to stop saying Rita's dead because of him. On their first date? Seriously? Who was that guy? Dexter really needs to concentrate a little more on Rita. I knew he was going to ask Deb to take care of Harrison. Dexter is making all the wrong moves right now...OMG, he's not even going to attend the funeral? Yeah, that won't raise any suspicions. It is kind of ironic that when Dexter needs him the most, Harry is nowhere to be found. How can someone so smart and resourceful usually just lose all of sense the way Dexter is right now? I guess these flashback scenes are just a way to keep Julie Benz on the show. Harry's long overdue appearance wasn't the assistance to Dexter I had hoped. Dexter is the last one on this show I thought would spin out. Hall was definitely Emmy-worthy in this episode. At this time, I will continue with season five.

Gideon58
07-04-24, 06:16 PM
Season Five, Ep 2. I loved what Dexter said about he hasn't been grieving because he doesn't have time. Aster has definitely reached a Sally Draper level of annoyance. The poiice think Dexter killed Rita? Seriously? Deb needs to stop playing, she LOVES having Dexter stay with her. Dexter really wants to be a good father to Aster and Cody he just doesn't have a clue how to do it. Dexter's son is totally adorable. With Rita gone, do we really need the annpyomg neighbor on the canvas? Harry govomg Dexter parenting advice? Seriously? Was that Shawn Hatosy playing the dead animal guy? OMG, that head was gross! Kudos to the propr dept. Why is dead animal guy going to be Dexter's next victm. He eems like a pergfectly nice guy, then again, so did Trinity when we first met him. Am I getting old or is the audio crap on this episode. I have the volume all the way to an still barely ear what the actors are saying. Deb lost the kids or did they just decide to go back and live in Rita's house? Can't believe they thought they were going to egt away with that. Dexter's trying so hard and no matter what he does, Aster is going to be screaming at him, which is going to get real tiresome real fast. Who does Astere think she is, annoucing where she's going to live? If Angel really loved LaGuerta, how much money she makes wouldn't even be an issue. Well, Deb has Dexter right where she wants hm...alone...in her house. I wonder if Quinn knows that when he and Deb had sex, she was thinkiong about Dex just using Quinn's body. The fight scene was stupid. MNichael C Hall was so good in the goodbye sce ne with the kid. OK, thanks for clarifying why Dexter is going to kill dead animal guy.

Season Five, Ep 3. Deb's opening nanny interview was hysterical. It looks like Deb might have found the right person, even if she hated it. Weird that Deb didn't kiss Harrison goodbye. "I don't know if killing you will fill the void, but it's a good place to start." Always nice to see Vanessa Bell Calloway...the woman's been in the business for decades and looks amazing. I love Quinn counting the hours since he and Deb have had sex. Was that Cheech Marin in that scene in the story or did he just look exactly like him. "I'm not used to checking the refrigerator for notes, just messages from other serial killers." Masuka really needs to learn to choose his words more carefully before he puts them in his mouth. I can't believe LaGuerta is surprised that Angel is bothered by the fact that she makes more money than he does. Deb is dying to find something wrong with Harrison's new nanny. Dead animal guy didn't realize he was stuck? Seriously? No, he knows he was stuck. Quinn definitely knows who Kyle Butler is. Aww, Dexter missed Harrison's first step. Is he a little young to be walking already? I don't know about these things. Also good to see Raphael Sbarge as Jim McCord. I'm not convinced Julia Stiles saw anything, she seemed pretty out of it.

Season Five, Ep 4. Damn, if dead animal guy did that to her back, once again Dexter has performed justifiable homicide. Why would this woman turn Dexter in after he [pretty much rescued her from dead animal guy. Surely Dexter can understand the girl's lack of trust at this time. Deb is getting as bad as Rita was at calling at exactly the wrong time. How is this crime scene going to help him ID this girl? How does Dexter know that the murder weapon made contact multiple times? Tiparellos? Do they still makes those? I remember seeing commercials for those when I was a kid a hundred years ago. That nanny quit because Dexter was out all night? Once? Yes, Masuka will notice missing meds and once he does, he will NEVER let it go> I don't care what Dexter or Harry say, this girl is not calling the cops on Dexter. I understand Dexter not wanting to let Rachel go...in her condition, on her own, she could be dead in a matter of hours. First she complains about how Dexter and Harrison are disrupting her life and then Deb complains when they go out to give her some alone time? This woman is always whining about whatever Dexter's doing. So Rachel has a mother and son somewhere or did dead animal guy kill them too? I wonder how long Deb rehearsed that apology to Dexter before he got back home? I knew Masuka would notice the missing meds immediately. Did Angel really think an apology was going to make Internal Affairs go away? What was McCord up to with LaGuerta? He slit that guy's throat anyway, what a dick. The classic trip and fall...still a staple during an on foot pursuit. What are those agents doing with Jonah? Well I guess there will be a little distance between Dexter and Quinn now? Stiles was excellent conveying her urge to fight everything Dexter was telling her even though she didn't want to. I liked that Deb wasn't taking no for an answer from Quinn. What does Rachel mean when she says it's not over?

Season Five, Ep 5. "Not even a year old and you're already destroying evidence." Can't believe that kid survived getting his throat cut. Almost every time I've seen a cut throat, it's fatal. What kind of name is Lumen? Deb should be smacked for begging Quinn to come home with her and now acting like he's in the way. Masuka was wearing a thong? Boyd had files? What kind of files? He picked up dead animals on the highway. Can't tell if Dexter really cares about Lumen or if he's just about self-preservation. Can't believe :LaGuerta trying to keep stuff from Angel,,,hello, you're married now. "She's into needles...why don't you show her your dick?" Why am I not surprised that Michael Angelo is a woman? Dexter keeps saying he's doing this for Lumen but I'm not seeing it. Loved Dexter coming home and finding Deb and Quinn. So did Angel just expect LaGuerta to spill her guts? I feel bad for Lumen and I don't think revenge is the answer to her healing. Was that Peter Weller in the hotel room? Is :Lumen really gone? It can't be that simple. Looks like Weller is playing a very dirty cop who could be a serious ally to Quinn who I didn't realize hasn't given up on exposing Dexter. I knew it wasn't that simple.

Season 5 Ep 6. "He will be an easy kill, just like old times." Lumen seems to be taking her revenge plan very seriously. "All you're doing is drinking and dancing on the taxpayer's dime." Loved laGuerta's suit. I'm giving LaGuerta and Batista's marriage about six more episodes. This is one of the greasier characters that I have seen Peter Weller play. Loved Harrison saying bye bye to Daddy Dexter. Why is Lumen involving Dexter in her mess? This is her mess. Love jealous Deb...she has no control over it. Why does she keep whining about the blood? She killed somebody what did she expect? How did the guy lumen shot get out of there without her seeing him? Luman's starting to come off as just a little bit insane. Dexter found a pay phone? How long ago was this? "Running pumps the heart faster and more drops are spilled." Cheating on LaGuerta already, Batista? That's Sean O'Brien playing Dan. Is he really innocent? well so much for Dan's innocence. Why is Dexter putting his life at risk for this woman? I love the way Masuka has an answer for absolutely everything. I have a hard time that this murder scene can't lead back to Dexter somehow at some point. I guess I misinterpreted what Batista was doing. Hopefully with Quinn and Deb together, Deb will give Dexter some space. Nice fake out with Lumen. I don't think Lumen will ever find the relief she's looking for.

Season 5, Ep 7. That actor playing suit and tie looks familiar. I can't even imagine what he's going to do with those barrels. Dexter seems extremely conflicted about helping Lumen...he really seems to want to walk away, but, for some reason, cannot. "That's either a saint or the most boring action figure I've ever seen." It's strange that Quinn is more comfortable going public about his relationship with Deb than she is. Why would he just drop the bodies in the middle of the road like that? Like Quinn's sweater. Suit and tie left his jacket in the truck? Lumen is an idiot for showing up at that crime scene. Love the sweater that Quinn wore in this episode. The fake out with LaGuerta was a little too cute. Why does Matthews have such a hard on for LaGuerta? Is it just because she's a woman? Cole is suit and tie! That means Jordan Chase is behind absconding with those barrels, but why? So what Cole is doing might be without Jordan's knowledge? I'm curious to see how Dexter is going to point evidence of the barrels to a dead man. Well that was simpler than I thought it would be. Boyd was one of Chase's followers? Cole and Boyd must have been working together. OK, Jordan and Cole are working together. Dexter really offended the nanny with what he said about St Bridget. It's fun seeing Peter Weller playing such a greasy character. This sting at the club seems to be suffering from too many chiefs. Who shot that guy? Quinn or Deb I couldn't tell. Dexter is definitely getting committed to Lumen. If there's any baby who needs St Bridget looking over him, it's Harrison. This episode was decent, but God it seemed four hours long.

Season 5. Ep 8. I don't understand how Jordan, Cole, Boyd, and the dentist are all connected to Lumen. "I've never been surrounded by so many people who make me feel normal, really normal." Deb seems to think Angel is going to cover for his wife, but I don't see him doing that. "Call me back when you're not a piece of furniture." Julia Stiles looks particularly beautiful in this episode. How did Jordan find out about Trinity and Rita? Loved the way Dexter's face went completely cold when Jordan mentioned Rita. Wow, LaGuerta is in complete self-preservation mode. How did Lumen's ex-fiancee find her number? I thought she was staying at Dexter's house. So what exactly is the difference between deserving to die and not deserving to live? I can't believe this guy just expected Lumen to cruise around the world with him. Why is Deb so mad at LaGuerta? Didn't she tell her to blame everything on her? Loved Dexter and Lumen preparing the room. Have to admit that Liddy's method of connecting to Lumen was pretty clever. So is Liddy a legitimate detective or what? Jordan's timing was just a little too coincidental. It seems odd that Jordan was allowed to just make all that personal stuff about Dexter's life public like that. Can't believe Cole broke through that door. Dexter has shared more of who he is with Lumen than he has with anyone since the pilot. "I was stuck between a rock and my wife." Dexter must have had to carve up Cole into pretty small pieces to get him into that luggage. He said he only had Cole's head, what did he do with the rest of the body? Liddy is going to be a real problem for Dexter.

Season 5, Ep 9. I don't understand half of what Jordan Chase is saying. I do love when he repeats something Dexter just said in his narration. "Run it for DNA, God, I love that you can do that." This girl breaking into Dexter's house...sounds like they have history. At least we know her name is Astrid. Oh, that's Aster, Rita's daughter, was the role re-cast? "Detective Scapegoat reporting for duty." It seems odd that Jordan hasn't mentioned Cole being missing. Whose blood is Jordan wearing around his neck?. Masuka is such a nosybody. How would Dexter stealing that blood sample connect to the missing girls? Why would a landlord tell a tenant he has a sister? Dexter seems to genuinely care about Aster. He doesn't genuinely care about a lot of people. Uh oh, it seems Olivia is being abused by her mom's boyfriend. What does LaGuerta know about Dexter? Harry returns! I was beginning to wonder if we were ever going to see him again. Is Liddy Quinn's father? I didn't know Laguerta and Angel were sleeping separately. Why is Aster pushing Dexter about Lumen? It's none of her business and 10 episodes ago she wanted nothing to do with Dexter. Who's Emily Birch? Jordan knows everything.

Season Five, Ep 10. Did Dexter say he was never going to put his family in jeopardy again? As long as he continues to do what he's doing, his family will always be in danger no matter how far away they are. Dexter doesn't really think Jordan is stupid enough to believe they're still at the house? He needs to be aware of a much bigger unknown threat in Liddy. Interesting that Jordan hasn't gone to the police about Cole being missing? It's amazing how Dexter always manages to stay four steps ahead of his co-workers...they don't even know Cole is missing, let alone at the bottom of the ocean in garbage bags. Deb and Quin really put Jordan on the defensive, a position we haven't seen Jordan in up to this point. Did I miss Dexter messing up Cole's apartment? Cole recorded all of his sexual activities? Seriously? Dexter knocking over those disks was hysterical, that would have never flown IRL. Taking that disk might have been a bad move on Dexter's part. Well, it's official, it's taken nine episodes, but it appears that Dexter really is starting to feel something for Lumen. Didn't Dexter tell Lumen to stay in the hotel room? Emily took that picture? Seriously? How did Liddy get in there without anybody stopping him? Who does Lumen think she is? Does she think she can do this without Dexter? I think Alex Tilden is a terrible liar. Wow, is it that easy to get surveillance equipment out of a police department? Jordan has control of Emily too? Emily made Jordan what he is today? How did she do that? That Jordan is a smoothie and Jonny Lee Miller is quite effective in the role. Dexter is a blood splatter analyst, why would he be taking DNA? I wonder what Jordan has on Alex. Guess it's irrelevant because Jordan appears to be throwing Alex under the bus. Alex is an idiot trying to bargain while he's tied naked to a table. That was awesome that she climbed on top of him to do it. Well, Deb is finally, but slowly, starting to put things together. Well, Dexter and Lumen...it's about time.

Season Five, Ep 11. Well, the police have finally found out that Boyd and Cole are missing, it took long enough. Deb is definitely putting the pieces together, even if it's taken awhile. I hope Dexter and Lumen being romantic doesn't district them from their mission. It's about time Dexter saw the camera. I still have this feeling that Liddy is Quinn's father. How convenient is it that no one at the police is buying Deb's theory. Dexter figured out the stuff about the surveillance equipment pretty quickly. even if he thinks it's Quinn. "Deb's closing in Chase. Quinn's closing in on me...and time is running out for both of us." I didn't realize that Quinn was investigating Dexter because he thought Dexter had a had in Rita's death, I thought he was suspicious of the rest of Dexter's life. There's still a lot of messy stuff going on between Deb and Quinn. The can't be surprised that Jordan is planning to leave the country. Looks like Dexter is being beaten by someone at his own game. This thing with Liddy is a complication Dexter really doesn't need right now. Love the blood dripping out oft the van. Loved that LaGuerta got that court order. I'm totally confused about the relationship between Jordan an Emily, but i guess it's irrelevant now.

And now the Season Five finale. I wonder why they waited until the finale to bring Harry back to the show? A few episodes ago, Aster wanted nothing to do with Dexter now she and her brother want to move back in with Dexter? If Jordan wanted Lumen dead, she would be already, he wants something from her. Is Jordan planning an encore performance with Lumen? Quinn is definitely trying to cover up any involvement with Liddy and I still think Liddy might have been his father. Wow, LaGuerta must have some set of peepers to notice that blood on Quinn's shoe. Was that Liddy's car Dexter broke into? I can't tell if he really doesn't know or if Quinn is protecting Dexter in order to protect Deb. Geez what else can keep Dexter from getting to Lumen? I knew that guy on the highway was going to report the noise he heard in Jordan's trunk. Dexrter actually nailed him to the floor, that was AWESOME! Deb communicating with the Latino guy...hysterical. OK, they got him on the table but why didn't they undress him the way Dexter usually does? Jordan is going like a man though, you gotta give it to him. "No, he was right about that part there is no polite way." What happens if Deb finds Dexter and Lumen there? She's letting them go? Seriously? I'm sorry, but that's stupid. If this ever comes out, Deb should lose her badge. She's more concerned about Quinn than doing her job. They've murdered an international celebrity, how can they possibly get away with that? That's just a little too convenient that now that she has had her revenge, Lumen has to leave. The whole conclusion of this season just stretched credibility at every turn and I have to do some serious thinking about whether I want to move on to season 6. This season was decent, but God, every episode seemed four hours long.

Just came by to confirm that I won't be watching anymore of this show. I agree with the concensus that there is a definite dip in quality after season 4. Season 5 stretched credibility at every turn, there is no way in hell IRL would Dexter have gotten away with every he got away with in season five. He should be dead or in jail. My next TV deep dive is going to be something WAY lighter.
