Architecture as Microcosm

Man vs. Self

Art as prison

Willem Da'fuc is going on here? Dafoe. Dafoe is happening here.

This one reminds me of High-Rise (2015) in that it is artsy-fartsy with characters trapped in architecture. The world reduced to a compact space. Snowpiercer would fit here too.

Didn't love the ending, but these films tend to have endings that exhale like the final flatulence of a balloon's last bit of air escaping.

I am just glad that They didn't Wile-E-Coyote his exit with him running into the big hole he drew on the wall and started worshipping.

If you think David Lynch is good, my guess is that you'll be over the moon for this one.

Worth a watch. Saturated in symbolism. Thus, it's a choose-your-own meaning book. Perform the labor that the film refuses to do for you, because that's deep(?). Dafoe holds your attention for the whole thing, and that ain't easy.
