Hi guys,

I'd like to feel the community out about the way advertising is displayed both on the forums, and on the site's content. Up until recently, we'd been running pretty standard banner ads and other common forms of advertising. As some of you may have noticed, we've been moving towards targetted text-based ads, in hopes of a) providing more relevant, useful advertising, and b) doing away with the more annoying, intrusive types of advertising.

How do you all feel about the way ads are displayed here? Would you rather they stand out or blend in? Do certain ads stand out too much?

The most notable ads are above the content and forums on most pages. There are a few more graceful ad units around, too, such as on within the review text on some reviews (http://www.movieforums.com/reviews/244), and in a column on the right of news stories (http://www.movieforums.com/news/261). Do you prefer these sorts of ads to the ones at the top of all forum pages?

Any and all feedback is welcome. :) If I can find a way to gracefully blend content and relevant advertising, I think we should be able to do away with most popup ads, as well as some of the flashier, more annoying banners.

They don't bother me as far as taking away from my experience here. In fact, I've clicked on some of the more interesting "Google" generated links. It's all good.
