No jeans for me! I haven't owned a pair of them since Reagan was in office.

I basically like button fly jeans for women like these. Definitely not shredded jeans. I hate those. I like Levi’s best of all though these aren’t Levi’s.

I buy cheap jeans, usually at Old Navy or Walmart. I don't know the brand name, but they are usually the cheapest ones. That way I have more money to spend on important things (like movies).

Definitely not shredded jeans. I hate those.I only like shredded jeans if I was the one that did the shredding and it was from a long life of wear. Otherwise, I can't stand paying extra for less material.

But I did buy a preshredded pair in college once, and those were probably my favorite pair of Levis ever. But I don't buy Levis anymore. I do have one button fly pair left over because it was a unique color (purple), but I have been ruined by Wrangler: fully felled outseams are the bomb.

My first jeans ever were Wranglers. Scratching my head wondering whatever happened to those jeans.

I'm currently sporting a pair from Uniqlo. I'm pretty happy with them. The fabric is pretty nice for the price, and they have a decently high rise so look good if you tuck in your shirt (as I normally do) and/or paired with a sport coat.

Anybody do the raw denim thing? I was considering buying a pair at one point, but the bleeding sounded like too much of a hassle. Curious if anybody has any first hand experience.

Anybody do the raw denim thing? I was considering buying a pair at one point, but the bleeding sounded like too much of a hassle. Curious if anybody has any first hand experience. My Wrangler’s (cowboy cut - 13MWZ) are considered raw denim. It’s the cheapest entry point to raw denim from everything I’ve looked at and worth the hassle if you don’t mind the break in period.

I buy my true waist size, do a single wash in cold water, air dry, and then wear as often as possible. It’s pretty uncomfortable for the first 3-4 months but once the denim stretches out you will wonder how you ever wore anything else.

I have a few pairs that are in varying stages of wear. The ones I’m wearing now are on their 20-25th day of wear, and they are still murdering me. But I also bought these one inch smaller in the waist than I normally do so it’s going to take a lot longer to stretch.

My other pair in my normal waist size is fairly well stretched at this point and my most comfortable pair. And then I have another pair that’s an inch or 2 larger in the waist which are easily the softest pair of jeans I own, but I’ve had them over 3-4 years now and they are longer in the inseam too. I wear them as work pants or when comfort is a priority.

I also have a pair of the slim cowboy cut (936) which I bought one inch smaller in the waist and those are my dress jeans. I’ve only worn them once so far, and they are insanely uncomfortable. But damn do they look awesome with boots.

This is good to know. Was the bleeding manageable? I assume light coloured shirts are a no no the first few months.

This is good to know. Was the bleeding manageable? I assume light coloured shirts are a no no the first few months. The first wash is going to take care of the bleed issue, but it's also going to wash away a lot of the dye so the color will alter quite a bit. I've never been one to wear raw denim without that first wash because I'm not interested in leeching pesticides and chemicals onto/into my skin. But an added bonus to that dye leak on the first wash is it'll help persevere the color in your other pairs, so I always wash my older pairs with a new pair to take advantage of that dye bleed.

If you want, you can minimize some of the dye leak during the rinse by pouring a cup of vinegar in with it. That'll help set the dye so you don't lose as much in the rinse.

Oh, and always wash them inside out. I find that helps keep the dye more consistent across the fabric. The one time I didn't do that I really regretted it because the dye leaking out of some spots more than others left me with a weird fade across the fabric.

And always use the coldest water possible. That'll help keep as much as the dye as possible and minimize the shrinkage.

But after that first wash: try to go as long as possible before you wash them again. And don't advertise how long it's been because people WILL judge you.

I usually go 6 months between washes. It sounds nasty but I’ve never had any ill effect, and I’ve been doing that for the last ten years.

How many people can shop off the rack? Nowadays I don’t even bother, because 28w 34l are not gonna be there.

Had a moment of weakness with a friend and bought a pair of 32l at GAP because I wanted to pull the trigger on something and started planning my return trip as soon as I tried them on at home.

In reality, if I pulled my pants up to my “true waist”, I would need a 28w 36l. My jeans definitely aren’t high and tight.

Rockatansky

I haven't tried them myself, but have you looked into Bonobos (the brand, not the ape)? I understand they have a pretty wide range of sizes and fits available. Or you can look into made-to-measure options like Woodies. (Haven't tried them myself either.) Apologies if this is redundant information.

I have a less annoying problem in that my ideal inseam is between standard sizes, which is fine for jeans which can be cuffed if you buy longer, but means that dress pants need to be altered.

The only reason I list Levi, Wrangler, and Lee in the poll was because they are known as the big three in the denim world and developed/patented most of the designs and technology in denim jeans.

Actually maybe I did pay $100+ for a jacket. Well it may have been a tad under. The most expensive clothing item I have ever bought was my leather jacket by Redline, but that made sense because I got half the cow with it. And I bought it on a 90 degree day so I convinced the store owner to give me the “you’re insane for buying one of these in hot weather” discount.

My prescription glasses have transition lenses, so I technically paid over $100 for sunglasses. In my defense, they're aviators. (Which probably means I look like a serial killer when indoors, but such is the cost of wanting to look cool outdoors.)

I feel you. I bought like three jackets within the past few months, and I've yet to wear any of them. They were "thrifted" (over eBay and the like) though, so I feel less guilty.

I also ended up buying a few suits and sportcoats over the pandemic, which I absolutely did not need (I already had a few, which was enough for work and special occasions), but in my defense, it made me feel good. Maybe the aliens in They Live were onto something.

I've had one pair of jeans that I was happy with. Looked perfect, etc. Compared to khakis/chinos/whatevers that are more pleasing to my eye. I still don't understand why I feel compelled to buy jeans when khakis look better, fit better and feel better.

I love Levi's jeans. I have wore them most of my life. Levi's never had tapered leg jeans back in the 80s. They had stove pipe leg. They were the slimmest, straightest leg jeans. I haven't seen them in the longest time. Levi's for women have stretchy material now and they feel nothing like Levi's from the 70s and 80s. They can feel cheaply made. I look for the good durable pair when I have to shop for them. They have become pricey as well.

Prescription sunglasses with designer frames (which is what I have) cost a lot more than $100. Even regular prescription glasses cost more than $100. I actually don’t have a really expensive pair of sunglasses (which is what I would like) because nobody sells those around here. I would need to go down to the city for those.

I love sunglasses. (I hide behind them.) There’s so many great shades for women & they look so very cool. I never leave the house without sunglasses.

To this day I have yet to find a pair that fit like them in the legs or seat. My ass looked divine in those jeans, and I had no ass to speak of at the time.

I also bought a new pair of STF 501s and they were pretty much painted on me, and I had worn them in pretty well when my mom accidentally ran them through the dryer so she could empty the washer for her stuff. Uh, I freaked out when I found out they had hit the dryer. Sure enough, they were impossible to button the top two buttons and I had to sell them. :(

Do post a photo of a fave jacket.

Try to ignore the messy/disorganized dresser. It’s on my to-do list for this weekend. :D

Stirchley

Number 1 and number 5 are over ten years old now and primarily carry sentimental value.*

Number 1 has hundreds of memories of smoke sessions with my ex-bestfriend buried in it. I can’t separate those memories of him from it, and I have tried to let it go but I just can’t do it. It’s now my daily jacket for around the house when I take Hunter outside in the mornings/evenings.

Number 5 was bought for me by dad, so I ain’t never getting rid of it. I had watched the movie Michael Clayton and kept talking about how I wanted a topcoat for my suit. It’s nothing fancy but it was the best he could buy and was the warmest jacket I had ever owned at that point. It’s easily my most worn jacket, so it’s got so many memories in it that I’ve forgotten half of them. I basically spent my college years in one of those two jackets.

The rest are my favorites from my Members Only collection (I’m up to 25 at this point). 😅*

Feel free to ask about any of them if you want to know more about why I picked them.

Those are most definitely not Levi’s.

Those are Wrangler.

And to answer your earlier question: I have two closets for my jackets now. One for fall/winter and one for spring/summer. When I lived with mom I only had one closest but it was big enough to get one of those extra hanging arms to create a two rail system and they all hung to one side of the closest. It was tight, but I made it work.
