Anyone catch the awards last night? I watched fopr about 45 minutes before other engagements called, but I was EXTREMELY impressed with Prince's performance (yes we can call him that again). What a talent this guy is. Basically I was impressed with the performances overall. :yup:

You know, on Saturday, I was in the car and I said "I wanna listen to some Prince right now" but I didn't have a Prince CD on me. I was madly craving that buttless pants singing man... and the very next day, he peforms at the Grammys, AND I MISSED THAT PART! GRRRRRRRRRR!

I saw bits and parts of the Grammy's. Prince was great. I remember the Purple Rain era...and he still has 'it'.

From what I saw, everyone looked great and the performances were really entertaining. I used to LOVE Earth, Wind and Fire in their hey day...and I liked them performing with Outkast. I could have done without Parliament though. They were awful. Time has not been kind to them. There were so many great funk bands back then, I wish they found another band that would have blended with the sound of EW&F and Outkast better.

It was a nice tribute to Luther Vandross. When he sang briefy in thanks, I got teary eyed. Even as disabled as he is....his voice was still golden.

Beyonce looked and sounded fabulous the times I saw her.

I hope you get more reponses to this thread Sedai. Last year I made a Grammy thread and nobody responded.

I haven't seen the awards and I don't know if any swedish channel will send it. I hope they will, it sounds like it was a great show. However...

I don't own one single CD or album with Prince but I have always regarded him as, championed possibly only by Stevie Wonder, the greatest musical talent that has ever set foot on a stage in the pop music industry. Great songwriter, singer, producer and he masters at least a dussin different instruments and with a completely personal style. His guitarplaying is absolutely amazing. I have a huge amount of respect for the guy... :yup:

I concur. I think this man could orchestrate a symphony using a set of flatware and some pots and pans. His arrangement/composition skills are amazing. I also don't own any of his music, and I can't seem to figure out why.
