I don't like them. Having said that I've only heard three songs. Bring me to life and going under are good at first, but they get boring after a while, and My Immortal sucked from the start, and has never stopped sucking, no matter how much the radio tries to force me to like it.

I have to agree, this stuff is bottom of the barrel. My girlfriend picked up the disk and most of the guitar playing belongs in a Poison song. The girl has decent pipes, but we couldn't even get through the whole disk after trying (too) many times.

Why listen to evanescene when you can listen to someone better like Nightwish or The Gathering. Better female vocals and waaaaaay better music that doesn't sound like a constant bland guitar sound.

Probably not as you would think them. If you goto a christian bookstore, you will not find them there. Their music, while at times may speak of religion or their beliefs, mostly doesn't. It is mostly nuetral, they sing about other things. Then again Evanescence isn't a "christian" band either, if we all remember that interview that people made a big deal of...

Well yeah, I would think that most Christain bookstores wouldn't carry "Christian Rock Band" music because, well, it's rock. And let's face it Evanescence is a Christain band even though they ambiguously denounce it.

but then again Hopesfall was a "christain band" and it turns out that none of the members were christain. So I try to stay away from that classification stuff. I mean, personally it doesn't matter. I listen to it all, Christian and Satanic and all in between. If I like the music, that's all that matters.

I love them. I havnt explored far enough into that particular genre to make a more informed decision, though.
Have any of you heard their earlier CD? or either of their EP's? They are AMAZING. I absolutley love this song called Understanding. Check it out of you can, but dont plan on finding a copy. It was a really small run, and they're running on ebay for something like 600 bucks. (and thats the foreign release)

Ever heard of Janis Joplin.... how about Heart? They're girls but they don't sound like **** when they sing... just because Amy Lee (or whatever the hell her name is) is a girl doesn't mean you should use that in her defence. I think that for that, you're the sexist and you're demeaning all the other girls in rock that actually can sing.

A few things. I don't know who originally called the essence christian. There are some religious elements in some of their lyrics. Plus Ben Moody used to be part of a chirstian metal band and christian bookstores carried the evanescence album, until one of them dropped the f bomb in an interview.

Second: I don't think i'm sexist with my music. Here's a list of some of the female vocalists in bands I love:

And I could go on and on and on. And I think I know about evanescnece which you say none of us don't. I have their albums and I even saw them in concert and they were decent. they just aren't the band that does it for me. But I don't think anyone here is being sexist. And yes, Theatre of Tragedy is an awesome band. But nopt as awesome as nightwish, which owns you all!

Your remarks weren’t even aimed at me but I am still highly offended by them none the less… people have differing tastes in everything from music to food… and contrary to your apparent belief… they are allowed their opinions… without you accusing them of being losers, nerds, weird, old guys without girlfriends, stupid, etc….
