Sedai and I been clogging up the shoutbox with stock trades. Well, no, it's mostly just been me. :D
But anyways, I'm going to share that stuff in here now. Remember, ya gotta spend money to make money! And the more money ya got to spend the more you can make! :D
My top trades at the moment are $uavs and $nok.
$uavs - They recently announced a partnership with a major e-commerce company to help test and build delivery drones. The speculation on the street is that it's Amazon. No official PR (press release) yet, as they signed a NDA (non-disclosure agreement). But regardless, their revenue exploded this past quarter so their business expansion plans are working.
https://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2020/05/15/2034241/0/en/AgEagle-Aerial-Systems-Reports-Record-Revenue-in-First-Quarter-2020.html
$nok - My top pick for the 5G network sector. They are the only 5G equipment provider that is not dealing with interference from politicians in the USA and China. In my opinion, this makes them the safest bet. They also have been getting a LOT of great press, including a 1 billion dollar investment last year from the Swedish government.

I would probably be rich if I had invested my money in the stock market. But I cannot stand losses of even the smallest amount. My husband does very well because he has the nerve to survive the ups & downs of the market.
Excellent!
My current focus today:
$GNUS - Time to get out! No, really. This thing is so overbought it isn't even funny. Every indicator known to man says to get out, like, yesterday. And yet...this thing just keeps on going. Really solid company with some great recent news and business moves. Their new Kartoon Channel debuts on the 15th of June. This stock can't possible moon until then...can it? I scaled up and down in the stock over the past two days, and still hold shares for now. That may change very soon.
$XSPA - COVID testing in airports? I guess it's a thing, now. A shrewd business move by a company that had a previous business model based on close contact between strangers. Recently announced a contract with JFK Airport, with allegedly more to follow soon. CEO is kind of sketchy, and there are some other odd factors with this company, but this thing looks poised to run, already gaining quite a bit in premarket. I got in @ 1.05. Looking for some gains on the short term here, as I don;t have a ton of capital to tie up long at the moment.
Good luck out there!
Offering on $GNUS - I am out!
Day trading's too wild/risky for me. All long-term investments here.
Day trading's too wild/risky for me. All long-term investments here.
I hear that. I am long in several dividend stocks, but I do swing trade with the other free capital I have in the market. That said, I did some day trades this week. ;)

My grandpa left stocks to me and my three cousins. Not sure how much he had total because his will used some for the burial costs but we each got 25 shares of Apple and 25 shares of IBM.

I'm getting killed today, but I'm HODLing strong.
My $nok calls are for $5 and expire Jan 2021. I'm prepared for the long term, but I am looking for some short gains.
I was up 25% yesterday (4 days after investing) but I am going for bigger gains. I have slid about 10% today.
Yea, I am getting kicked around today, except for $NIO, which is on a rocket today. This is my first red day in a while...
No trades executed today.

Woah, I spoke too soon: $uavs is on a tear right now.

$uavs shot up 20% yesterday afternoon. It's already slid 10% this morning. Two steps forward and one step back. :(

And of course the news is going bonkers about a second covid wave the week after I reinvest. All my gains from the past week wiped away within five minutes of the market opening. Rampant manipulation.
I had a couple of great trades at the end of last week, but not much to speak of this week. I need to learn more about trading a down market. Like with $TVIX!
Anyway - I got out of $XSPA last week with a 113% profit.
Zoinks!

Put options and covered calls. Great in down markets, especially if you’re thinking of holding the underlying stock long term.

Oh yeah, today would be a perfect example of why I like Robinhood. Their instant deposit feature is built on margin, so I was able to start a transfer this morning knowing it wouldn’t hit my bank till next week. In short, I spent a good portion of my paycheck on some cheap calls. I’ve never assumed this much risk/volatility before, but I’m not sweating it. Volume was down overall and what little was selling. So bloody. Buy buy buy!
I am just now working on learning the ins and outs of option trading. I want to make sure I have a good handle on exactly how they work before throwing cash at it. I may paper trade a few first.

9:38 ET - Genius Brands says former governor and actor Arnold Schwarzenegger will become a significant investor in the company. Schwarzenegger will star in and co-produce its series Stan Lee's Superhero Kindergarten, lending his voice, likeness in animation, and standing to launch and promote the series. Schwarzenegger has elected to take his compensation in warrants to purchase shares of Genius Brands common stock. Genius Brands shares are up 15% to $4.78.
Yea, I am watching $GNUS fairly closely over the past day or two. ;)
Also keeping an eye on $NBRV this week, as it has an FDA approval landing Friday. Will try to play the run up to that, if possible. Otherwise, I am in on a swing trade on $NCLH and a swing on $LNC. Other than that, I am in cash during this volatile time.
John McClane
06-16-20, 10:28 AM
Sedai: What do you think the odds are $NBRV is going to get a FDA approval? I have been in bio stocks before and they always ended up being one of those FDA approval is coming deals, but then it never drops or gets rejected.
Gotta love options: my Robinhood account jumped up $200 at the opening and regained everything lost last Thursday.
I also went ahead and bought 2 calls for $NBRV - $2.50 7/17
I figure worst case I lose the $30 premium, but if approval is imminent then that could pop fast.
Sedai: What do you think the odds are $NBRV is going to get a FDA approval? I have been in bio stocks before and they always ended up being one of those FDA approval is coming deals, but then it never drops or gets rejected.
Yea, FDA approvals are weird in the market. To be safe, I never play them through the actual approval, because sometimes, even when they get approved, they end up selling off on the day of approval. I have found it safer to play the run up, and then bail before the actual call. That said, some approvals DO take off after approval, but damned if I can call them correctly.
Good luck with your call. At first blush, I am thinking it might be a bit too far OTM, but ****, wtf do I know? My exit target is around 1.50, since I am in under a buck.
John McClane

Oh, btw, if you’re a blue chips investor than you best be invested in $IBM. Long term growth they are the smartest play in the tech sector. Plus, they have a 5% dividend.
They primarily invested in blockchain applications for healthcare and inventory tracking, and they are looking at 5-10 years of guaranteed growth.

I found a penny today while picking up Chinese food.
Even though there were other people around, I bent down and picked it up.
It will go in my "abundance jar" - a jar that holds only found money!
(It's got a ten dollar bill in it that I found in a Sears parking lot many years ago. I also found a quarter a few months ago during my evening walk and kept reminding myself that it was like finding a penny every night on 25 consecutive walks!) ;)

White House looking into possible ways to shore up 5G security in this country. The rocket has taken off! :D
After a sound drubbing last week, I am back in action this week. Exited my swing trade on $NIO at validation with a decent gain, might get back in later if it sells off again like it tends to do.
In on swings with $TWTR, $T, and $KSS. Not 100% on the last one, so I will watch it closely and cut and run if it goes south.
I may go long on $T if it shows price strength for a long haul, as it has room to go up 10% in share price, and the dividend is fairly strong.

Sedai: I hate JP Morgan. They downgraded $NOK based on some anti-Nokia propaganda coming out of China.
Erased all my gains from the past month with one news article.
And ya'll wonder why I say the stock market is rigged and just an instrument of the rich ruling class? Because it is.
Exited $TWTR swing at validation after it ran up today. Looks like maybe it isn't going to drop like I thought, but it's a green trade, so I will take it!
Pissed I sold $NIO last week, even if it was a green trade.
Still long in $T, which hasn't done much.
Still in on my $KSS swing, which is finally moving. Currently up 9%, but will stay in with an exit target of $36-ish.

I give up. My investment picks have been bludgeoned by crooked banks and investment firms. While some junk stocks are on a tear.
Sedai: Did you see $NBRV? And $UAVS is going nuts, too.
Yea, I saw those moves. I am not in either stock at this point, but I keep an eye on $UAVS because I know you get in and out of that from time to time.
I have most of my short money out in cash right now, waiting for some of it to clear, and also looking for another opportunity. Still long in $T. Earnings later this week and just past the Div Ex date for 7%.

07-20-20, 11:58 AM
Yeah, I am holding out hope that $NOK's earnings report is good. They report on the 31st.
Right now I am just holding options in $NOK and $BB
Also, **** JP Morgan.
With whatever funds I had free in my account this morning, I took a day trade when I saw strong price action on $HTBX this morning. Jumped in at $2.84 and sold after validation at $3.75. I will take that 33% gain! Too bad it was short money! :rotfl:

I suspect that we are going to start seeing a new era for the stock market where the institutional investors will be even more cryptic with their trades in an effort to get Redditors to drive the price up for them.
I just find it laughable that these guys think they can win in the long run. Like this type of activity is not good for the health of the market and while it's nice to see the little guys winning for once they are creating the new conditions for their subjugation.

If I had the money I would totally be buying put options on $GME. It will fall sooner than later and the ones holding puts are going to make bank on the other side of the storm.
The shorts keep saying that....
Maybe they can go back to the other activities they enjoy, like robbing old ladies at ATMs or clubbing baby seals... ;)
John McClane
01-27-21, 05:30 PM
The shorts keep saying that....Put options is a completely different beast from shorting.
With put options you are putting up collateral to collect a premium and, possibly, buy shares at a lower cost than what they are currently trading. But with shorting you're just borrowing someone else's shares, selling them at market price, and then paying fees to keep the position open.
Put options imply you want the shares and are willing to pay for them but you think their current price is higher than deserved.
The perfect put option would be putting up the collateral, collecting the premium, and having them expire worthless. Thereby you get to keep your premium and get your collateral back.
All I know is if WSB (wallstreetbets) is talking about it stay the **** away.
And ya'll wonder why I say the stock market is rigged and just an instrument of the rich ruling class? Because it is.Don't be fooled. The people making bank on Reddit are already a part of the rich and ruling class. They just don't advertise that they are rich for fear that they will get eaten by the mob. :yup:

Apparently a bunch of people are pumping it because investors have shorted it. One week numbers are staggering.Yeah, it’s known as a short squeeze. Probably one of the greatest in history, and it ain’t close to over yet as the float (number of shares shorted) is still in the millions.
The house always wins, tho. One company that was shorting it just got an injection of cash even though they have lost close to a billion dollars. That’s something that average Joe investors don’t seem to understand. They are acting like they are winning (because short term they are) but in the long run their money will dry up long before a bank will.
I suspect that when the crash happens we will start hearing stories about college funds and life savings being wiped out.
EDIT: The Reddit page for WallStreetBets is looking more and more fraud like so I sure hope these guys know what kinda fire they are playing with so I say this with all the force in the world: Stay the duck away from $GME because it will get halted for investigation and you will get left holding the bag.

Exactly. If the SEC decides to halt all trading on it, even just to investigate a few people, there are going to be thousands of retail investors holding stock they can't sell. And then they will learn the hard way that the house always wins.

GME just on a slow decline, sad to see. I didn't put in more than i could afford to lose but it still stings!
I'm either going to zero or even!
I know this is getting old, but I can't be more serious when I type it. I keep falling for that danged monkey mix-up. I suppose it's a sign. I'm curious to get into this and lose some money now. Where do I start? Not stock suggestions, but tools to even access them. Top-level stuff is good enough. I'm sure I'll dote over details as time permits, but I am curious.

Apps for your phone.
I've been looking at loads of stocks this week, amazing how many dipped during Covid in March and have now doubled or even more. Tesla's run from 2016 from $600 per share to like $3300 is amazing.
Wish I'd invested in big companies about March time last year.

ynwtf: Well, it really depends what kinda trading you want to do. Do you want the training wheels option or the holy **** what have I gotten myself into option?
Here is a website with a list of some good options: https://www.nerdwallet.com/best/investing/investment-apps
I personally have a Robinhood account and a Charles Schwab account.
I prefer Schwab because a.) it's super easy to move my money between my brokerage account and checking account b.) they have no minimums and c.) they provide a crap load of data to you. Plus, it comes with a super powerful, and intimidating, desktop application called StreetSmart.
You have to open an investor checking account with them, but their checking account is phenomenal. No minimums, ATM rebates for all fees, and no foreign transaction fees.
I don't actively trade anything at the moment, and I'm not going anywhere near the market till the crazies settle down.
Robinhood is **** if you wanna actively trade, but it's good to get your feet wet and if you just want to buy and hold something for an extended period of time. But I am seriously considering closing it at the end of this year.

I wish I'd gotten into trading a couple of years ago, looks like I missed the opportunity of a lifetime with the market tanking last March due to Covid.
Loads of big companies have doubled or better in price since that period, Callaway Golf x 6, Amazon, Disney, Nike, McDonalds etc all doubling over the past 10 months. Who knew.
Took a spec play on $SOS two days ago at 3.95/share. Threw a few hundred at it. Looks like WSB put it on their Top 20 yesterday, so it's a runner! Currently up 62% on the day...

Funny thing is I like the stock/company, and my plan was to go long. Now these clowns have a hold of it, so who knows what will happen. PT is $20 long, so I may sell enough to make my investment back and then let the rest ride.
Yea, it was tanking so I cashed in half of my shares in at 36% gains to take some money off the table. Will stick the rest in a drawer for now.

Yup, and this is why I got out of the market. I cannot and will not try to anticipate what some nutter who bets their whole portfolio on one stock will do. You just can't. Hedge funds are far easier to predict.
I hear yea. This is still the account with the free money in it (a portion of a stimulus check), too which I have added none, but taken some withdrawals out as I have made gains here and there. Definitely taken some hits to this funds, as well! ;)
Still riding on some $SOS shares, but after some analysis at lunch I am in on a spec swing play on $NXTD @ 1.99/share. It's been on a trend setting higher lows over the past few days, so I will try to get a 25-35% gain on this one over the next couple of days and then close out the position. Tomorrow is Friday, so it may sell off, but I didn't put a ton into it.
Also - still long in $NIO

GME is back baby! I sold for a 50% loss on my £1000, then I put that £500 back in and now it's doubled.
I'M JACKED! I'M JACKED TO THE ****!!
