Hey I was just wondering what all you MoFo's thought about gay marriage. I am very exited that the law of allowing them has been passed in Massachusetts. Or at least it's progressing. I think some legislation has a certain amount of days to take away the law before it is set in stone... or something like that.
Perposals from gay people have been all over the newspapers. It's really nice to read these happy stories. :D
This is wonderful because now these people will have all the benefits of marriage, tax breaks, and it will be easier to adopt kids.
I know I am going to be ripped to shreads... but I just wanted to share my opinion.

It doesn't bother me if they get married or adopt and would vote for their rights if it came up.
Kong is all for equal rights. Marry who you please (as long as the other half of the couple agrees, of course).

For a start id like to make it clear that im not gay, not that there's anything wrong with it :) As far as im concerned anyone can feel free to marry anyone, I dont really approve of marriages with huge age differences but apart from that go nuts.

Why would you propose to somebody in a newspaper? Dogs piss on newspapers. Birds have it in their cage. Not everyone reads the newspaper, you may not see it, etc.
If SabreMan79 ever proposes to me, it'll either be in person, on the phone, or he'll get Stephen King to put the question in his next book in his dedications.
A marriage in Massachusettes! Sounds delightful.

Well, i find this really worring, I mean, Now they can get married, Whats next.... Being treated as equals. Someone needs to put there foot down and stop all this nonsense. Gone are the days where you could go you Gay-Bashing and not be stopped by Whining Fag-Loving hippys.

Age doesn't really mean anything, honestly. As long as it's legal, anyone should be able to marry whoever they want. This is America, is it not?
As for the Gay Marriage thing, I say good. Let whoever wants to get married do so. It doesn't hurt anyone and it makes people happy, thus good.

Oh no no... What I meant to say was that the stories were published in the newspaper!!!!!!!! Not the actual proposal.

I see nothing wrong with gay marriages… they deserve the right to make a legal commitment to each other…

So you would say its ok for a 19 year old to be with a 50 year old, but not ok for a 19 year old to be with a 17 year old? I know these laws are there to protect people but i belive they have a lotof contradictions.
I personly would have moral issues with being with someone who could be my daughter or my mother, I see somthing wrong with relationships with a more than 16 year age diffrance.

17 year olds can't get married. But I really DON'T see the problem! If you are with someone who makes you happy, why should it matter? does it hurt anyone? No, I don't think it does. Me, no I wouldn't marry someone old enough to be my mother or young enough to be my daughter either, but seriously, it doesn't bother me if someone else does...

Yes your right, i totaly forgot we where talking about marrage .
But then i ask the question (Not to just to you) why not, What makes a 18 year old better at understanding there emotions than a 17 year old?

Me, no I wouldn't marry someone old enough to be my mother or young enough to be my daughter either, but seriously, it doesn't bother me if someone else does...This analogy is probably going to get me yelled at, but what about prostitution? It is consensual and ideally makes both parties happy, but would you really say it's a "fair" arrangement? Most would regard the prostitute as being exploited or taken advantage of. Now, obviously marrying someone older than you is quite different, but wouldn't this at least demonstrate that it's quite possible for a consensual act to still be exploitive?
But then i ask the question (Not to just to you) why not, What makes a 18 year old better at understanding there emotions than a 17 year old?Aside from the fact that they're a year older, nothing special. There's no magic line there. But that's inevitable. The line needs to be drawn somewhere, and anywhere you draw it will be less than perfect. So unless you wish to abolish all age-of-consent laws, I think the point is moot, as it could apply to any other age, too.

I guess in our society is based on the majority, not the individual.

It would be very time consuming if it was based on each individual case… however, in most states in the US, 17 year olds can get married with parental consent…

Is gay divorce legal yet?
When are they going to legalize prostitution?

i personally don't agree with homosexuality...but i also don't agree with discrimination. so i believe they should have all the rights that everyone else has.

Yeah, Why not? Who is it really hurting? yeah, that is too much of an age gap for ME, personally, but who am I to judge what others do? I still stand by that it is a free country, so if a 19 year old and a 40 year old really love each other and wanna get married, who am I to say they CAN'T?

Does this new bill only apply to Gay men or can Gay women marry too? I think this is brilliant, another step forward into the future and out of the dark ages, let's isolate those Bigots one step at a time.

It's for everyone! Now, in Massachusetts, anyone can marry whoever they want!
I'm glad to hear your excitement over this... as I am very much excited. Yay for equal rights.
I think it is great, my friend who is a lebian is getting married to her girlfriend next year, they are a lovely couple. :D

So Yoda, my friend, which do you prefer: a younger lover, or an older one? C'mon now...
So Yoda, my friend, which do you prefer: a younger lover, or an older one? C'mon now...Well, I wasn't condemning relationships with significant age gaps. I was just trying to demonstrate that a relationship can be completely consensual and desired by both parties, and still be unfair or exploitative on some level. I don't mean to insinuate that this would apply to most, or even a significant number, of relationships containing age gaps.
But since you asked, I'd almost invariably answer this question by saying I prefer somewhat older women. However, for whatever reason, the last couple of girls I've dated have both been slightly younger than me. Go figure.

Oh Yoda, you dawg! You heartbreaker you! It's so obvious that you need a woman more on your level. Unfortunately, women that are "more on your level" must be older than you. Doesn't that scare you?

Doesn't that scare you?I was a bit bothered by it last year, if only because it makes finding someone much more difficult, but the girl I'm seeing now is very mature for her age, and is only very slightly younger than me, so I don't think an older woman is a must.
How we got to talking about this, I've got no clue. I think asking questions is embedded into the very core of your personality. :yup:

In any event...I'm just glad you have met that special someone. If you're in love, good for you! We all want you to be happy!
