View Full Version : Rep Points for Reviews
Just thought I'd throw up a quick poll to see which way the MoFos flow in regards to awarding forum members reputation point bonuses when one of their reviews is posted on the site's content areas (http://www.movieforums.com/). Feel free to rant and rave. I'm leaning towards doing so, as it encourages user participation and helps to keep the site updated and fresh.
So, what does the collective entity of MoFo say?

I like the idea... :yup:
Sounds cool. Tho o'course it kinda leaves us Europeans with only the Euro-first outings to get a review in on (which are, like, so numerous ;)). And what of the poor Aussies? Silver won't like coming in bronze (i wonder how many times i can test his metal with these jangling jibes? ;))

My geographical location isn't half as damaging as the fact that I don't write reviews for the content areas...

Me neither (yet), but I don't mind the idea...

He he.. Well, Chris has said that it is okay to do DVD reviews too, which I guess means that reviewing a not completely new film is ok.
What do you think? Everybody who wants me to review Saraband, Bergman's farewell to the world of cinema and film, hands up! ;D

It sounds fine. I can't imagine anyone having a problem with it.
No problemo with me. Sounds cool. ;)

It's the worst idea ever. If you allow this to happen all hell will break loose. The sky will cave in and our skin will melt and our eyes will burn.

Oh right... hmmm.. Didn't think of that. No rep points for reviews!
Actually this reminds me.
I was wondering just what are the rep points awarded for now? Also, I would like to know a bit more about the formatting of messages on the site (quoting, smileys etc..) Is there a thread that is kind of a forum usage primer?
Thanks

I was wondering just what are the rep points awarded for now? That's up to each individual MoFo. Each user can click on the little reputation button on each post (http://www.movieforums.com/community/images/buttons/reputation.gif), either approving or disapproving of it. The former gives points; the latter takes them away. The number of points you can give or take is dependent on things such as your post count, length of membership, and how many rep points you yourself have accumulated. Please visit Feedback Needed: The User Reputation System (http://www.movieforums.com/community/showthread.php?t=4673)for a breakdown of the system's nuances.
Also, I would like to know a bit more about the formatting of messages on the site (quoting, smileys etc..) Is there a thread that is kind of a forum usage primer?Sure. Just check out the Reading and Posting Messages (http://www.movieforums.com/community/faq.php?faq=vb_read_and_post) page in the FAQ (http://www.movieforums.com/community/faq.php?faq=vb_faq#faq_vb_read_and_post) area.
Not great at writting myself, I admire those who can, so i voted yes. :D

I'm with Nebbit on this one. I admire those who can write reviews that are interesting and provocative. :yup:
