I wanted to know what you all think of this show, some people I know just plain hate it, but most of my friends love it, and I have some friends who like it but dont like that they use Jesus jokes. Personally, I liked it when it first came on, but then it started getting less funnier and it seemed like all Trey Parker and Matt Stone wanted to do is see how far they could go. Fortunately I started watching again and it now I like it alot more than I used to. Your thought on this program?

Eh I always thought it was pretty average and not deserving of the acclaim it got. I liked how they turned the film into a musical though, that's always good hehe. Oh Yeah! And I remember how pissed n7of9 was when she found out that Kenny had been replaced by that other guy! lol

Ahh yes I was really pissed when they did that, I just hated Stone and Parker for that so I decided to boycott the show until they brought kenny back, and they did bring him back the next season with no explaination but I was still glad they brought Kenny back.

I think the show is hilarious and the movie is really funny too. i do know some people who get offended by the show but you just have to watch it and not take it seriously at all. its just there for fun and to make us laugh and it does that.
I had the very same poster! South Park is some funny... funny... funny stuff. It's one of those shows where you can just kick back, relax and have a few laughs. I love all the characters... Mr. Garrison and his alter ego Mr. Hat are great. Towlie, Chip and rest, god bless you all.

I thought the show was funny, that was until Trey & Matt stopped writing the shows directly; shame about that. But the early episodes are grade A television.
Southpark is overall pretty funny, but they are constantly pushing the limits so people get offended. but I invented a saying for that "Funny is funny", you can't start laughing then stop and think that it might offend ppl. You just have to let go and laugh your head off at everything, trust me you'll end up heaps happier. :)

Did anybody catch the newest South Park? It was hilarious, and it's part 1 of 3. Their first trilogy.
It's called "Imaginationland" and it starts off with the boys looking for a leprechaun that Cartman claims he has seen, he was so confident that he saw it he bet Kyle. If Cartman coudln't prove it he would have to pay Kyle 10 dollars and if Cartman could, Kyle would have to suck his balls.(thats the title of the trilogy actually) I don't want to give anything away, but all i know is that its going to be epic and amazing and I can't wait for part 2 of the South Park: Kyle Sucks Cartman's Balls- The Trilogy
The Gnat
10-23-07, 11:29 AM
The first part of the "Trilogy" was amazing. That was great gettign Butters stuck in imagination land and Cartman's obsession with getting Kyle to suck his balls, especially at the end of the episode with Cartman in the truck looking at the picture of Kyle.

Too many great episodes to name a favorite but the Buck Rogers one was pretty close, especially the opening sequence.

i think south park's just getting better with age. sure there are some great old episodes but the show's evolving and showing no signs of becoming boring like the simpsons ended up doing.
I love South Park! It's so damn good and hilarious!
I especially love the movie. I can still watch it and laugh. These jokes don't get old.
Season 12 was pretty good; specifically "Over Logging", "Super Fun Time", and "About Last Night..."

I love South Park because nobody's safe and anybody who gets offended by it has a massive log in their ass. I asked my mormon friend if he had seen the mormon episode and he goes "DUMB DUMB DUMB DUMB DUMB!!!" people who have seen that episode will understand that..... (he wasn't offended he thought the episode was hilarious)

Yes, it's always winter in South Park.
There was at least one episode set in summertime.
Brilliant episode last night. I love it when, about halfway in, someone says something, and you suddenly realize what the episode's angle is. Really good stuff, after two pretty solid episodes to start the season. I dunno how they can maintain this level of quality so deep into the show's run. Whatever it started as, South Park has morphed into something completely new and unique, and I really think we're going to look back on it a couple decades from now as having produced some genuinely brilliant satire.
"Aaaaand...it's gone."
South Park is legendary some of the episodes are fantastic and it is definatly one of the best and unique show's on tv :yup: and where do the they keep getting these idea's from.

Speaking of which, has anyone formed an opinion on who Mysterion really is?
I believe it's either Clyde or Craig.

I don't think Mysterion is meant to be anyone. Showing only his face, with no hair or hats or anything, was the joke, since if you take away a few defining features like apparel, all of the children in South Park look the same for the most part, aside from Cartman and Token.
I adored the episode though. Not even for how funny it was, but the idea of it.

South Park has morphed into something completely new and unique
Having seen pretty much every episode I would say it started off as more outlandish cartoon that was overly offensive for it's time with minor satire mixed in. The longer the series has gone on the more obvious and structural the satire has become , with movies and recent events being the obvious influences for around seasons 6-9.
Sometimes an episode dealing with something I know a lot about is either really amazing or just ignorant. Then stuff that I just heard about and don't know much about usually works more consistently.

Yeah, I know it's part of the joke, but even watching the episode you could pick up hints as to who it could be (i.e. it isn't Kyle because Mysterion asks him for help, it isn't Craig because the Pandemic two-parter shows he'd never want to be a superhero, etc.)
I'm thinking it could be Kenny, though.
I just watched an interview with Parker and Stone and learned about Mary Kay Bergman.

I am actually liking the new season so far, and I thought 12 was a little under-par. The Mysterion episode was a great riff on DK, the latest one was the most spot-on episode I've seen in a while. The jokes and overall theme never missed a beat.

Tonight's episode captured the essence of everything South Park is about. It wasn't a spoof on anything, but it was disgusting, over the top offensive humor that makes South Park the amazing show it is. Such a throwback to classic episodes. My opinion of course.
Not nearly as funny as the past few episodes...

I think I probably have two episodes.
Scott Tennerman Must Die is absolutely classic and it is the definitive Cartman episode.
I do have a soft spot in my heart for the episode where the kids are playing little league and want to lose. I believe it's called The Losing Edge. I can relate because little league was so boring and baseball is probably the most uninvolving sport which is why so many not athlete kids play it.

"RANDY your Balls!"
"I know smoking pot in front of a cop right"
"No I mean your actual Balls, there huge"
Such a goofy episode. Better than most alternatives, but pretty average by South Park's high standards, I think. Liked the Cartman/KFC/drug angle and think it should've been the A-story.
I'll say the same for "The Tale of Scrotie McBoogerballs." They seemed to be circling around a nice message there -- that they just do gross stuff and people keep trying to read things into it that aren't there -- but didn't really drive it home the way they do.
The opener, however -- the sex addiction/alien-wizard one -- was quite good.
I loved Cartman snorting the KFC Skin and the fact that he used a credit card to cut it up as if it was cocaine was brilliant :rotfl:
South Park spoofed Tron last night. It was freakin hillarious . Check it out here (http://www.southparkstudios.com/clips/269235) if you missed it. :p
http://www.screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/south-park-tron.jpg
Very good episode. I can't help but feel they kinda spoofed Facebook more than they satirized it, if anyone gets my meaning, but merging it with Tron was pretty clever and I chuckled plenty. The only reason I'm not head over heels for it is because brilliant episodes like "Margaritaville" have basically ruined me for all the others, simply because I'm always aware of what this show is capable of.
But putting such unrealistic expectations aside, I really liked this last one.

The latest two-parter was a bit of a let down though.
Damn the network censors.
Maybe the DVD will release the full episode untouched.
http://i44.tinypic.com/orv5gn.jpg
Figured Comedy Central would censor most of the episode if Matt and Trey chose to continue it. Weirdly enough, it almost made it funnier.
I still haven't seen it. My DVR didn't record it, and when I went to record the later showing, it had been replaced with a rerun. Last I checked it still wasn't on their site. My brother recorded it, though, so I'll probably check it out tomorrow.
Parker and Stone are dead-on, as usual. It's beyond absurd that people actually have to fear violent retribution for this.
ChasingButterfly

I agree. I watch the first installment of the latest episode and while it wasn't as funny as the other episodes prior I enjoyed it but the second half was censored more than the one I saw before hand and it really did make it even more hilarious.
Trey Parker and Matt Stone are complete ledgends!

I love this show. Eric Cartman is the greatest character in an animated show ever, IMO. Equal parts racist, sexist, insulting and just plain abrasive, he's the poster child for everything wrong with the world today.
My favourite episodes aren't episodes, per se. They're actually storylines; the Imaginationland trilogy, the Coon & Friends saga and the three episode series where each episode is told from each character's perspective in one night.
I don't recall that last one offhand...?
Really great show, and probably the closest thing to conservative satire (which there's usually a dearth of) out there right now, though without being overtly partisan.
I'll take Homer Simpson over Cartman, but he's way up there, and this show's really just gotten better with age. The second half of last season was about as consistently strong as some of the best runs they've ever had. I've been rewatching big chunks of the series lately on Netflix, and while it's all pretty good, the way they've polished their tone over the years really shows when you jump a decade back to compare. It's the same show, but it's gradually evolved into the best version of itself.
TylerDurden99
03-28-12, 06:44 PM
That last three episode storyline was where Stan's sister babysat Cartman, Stan went to the meteor sighting party, where the ATF, I think, thought that they were a murderous cult, and Kyle and Kenny attended Jewbilee. I think it was in Season 3, but it was a great little story. Of course, Cartman's episode was the best, but each of them are worth watching.
TylerDurden99
03-29-12, 12:58 AM
My actual "favourite" episode, not storylines, is 1%, from Season 15, which I felt was the best example of South Park greatness; still has that classic abrasive humour, but also a very engrossing story, in which Cartman's stuffed toys are being mysteriously killed. It ends with a wonderful moment where you realise just how clever Parker and Stone are, by ending with conclusion of Cartman finally growing up (if only just a bit).

Have to say the funniest episode that I ve seen yet is the Jennifer Lopez hand puppet one.
They just love to take a dig at Ben Affleck too.
The songs in the episode are a masterpiece in themselves.
"Don't theenk just because I got a lotta money I'll geeve you taco flavoured keeses honey".
I love the fact that the real J Lo was quite shocked when she saw it.

OMG had to post about the Soth Park spelling bee vs the home schooled kids.
It isnt really that funny up until the moment that they get that impossible word at the end, something like croxaldyphiphic.
One of the kids (Cartman I think) asks for it to be used in a sentence and the Mayor says;
"Croxaldyphiphic is a hard word to spell"
Just had me crying with laughter.
Also when Cartman asks for "Chair" to be used in a sentence is pretty funny.
I saw the Cartman vs Wendy fight episode the other day. Classic, don't know how I missed that one.

I've merged this with an existing thread on the topic. Also, a new thread on this topic would go in the Television and Music forum, anyway. Just FYI. :)
Anybody watching the new season? It hasn't been bad but it hasn't been great either. As i've already said i'm not a fan of the running plot structure. I like it in theory but not in the execution so far. I think Season 18 had the right idea, individual stories with a running subplot, i think the problem with that Season was just that it had bad episodes i think if they kept that up they would've got it right by now. Don't like that they've made the full season a running plot, my main problem is that while i love the over the top exaggerations from South Park but when it is based on the one storyline throughout a season the jokes often get repetitive and drawn out. This quitting twitter is like suicide joke for example has already got really boring and will no doubt continue throughout the season.
What i did love in this Season so far was:
The Gerald is skankbang or whatever twist. I didn't see it coming and the second episode montage with bridges blowing up and stuff was legit great. Knowing South Park it is most likely a jews run the media joke but i don't care because i think Gerald is a great character and i like that he's getting some use. I do hope there's more of a story to it from his conversation with Ike it seems like it is just for fame hope that isn't the case.
A similar thing that didn't work for me:
The fakeout at the start of the second episode where it leads you to believe the girl is going to jump in the bridge but it turns out she just dropped her phone in the river. It was so obvious, maybe if she didn't have her phone in her hands i wouldn't have but i suppose the fakeout wouldn't have worked then. And no idea why they repeated it with the drawn out journey to the cabin as if they are going to kill Cartman but they destroy his laptop instead. Although my favourite line of the episode may have came from this part: when Cartman randomly pointed out the shovel.
So yeah, hope some of you guys have been watching.

This last episode was great! I can't wait to see where it goes now!
I haven't watched it yet but i'm planning to later. I still don't think it has been a great season but it has been better than 18 and 19. A strong finish could get it to 12-17 level for me though.
Has anyone been watching the new season? I've only seen up to the witch episode but i think it's been a big improvement over 18-20 personally, glad they have dropped the running story format for the most part. It's still kind of there with Cartman and his girlfriend especially but other than that it's more individual thankfully. Holiday Special has been my favourite so far and i don't think there's been anything horrible yet.
