This will be a 64 film tournament. You can nominate up to four films today, hopefully that will get us to 64. If not, we will just nominate some more tomorrow. Traditional tournament rules will apply. I'll put all the films into a random bracket generator. You'll have to have seen both films to vote for them.
Get to nominating:

Disclaimer: I made the bracket on Challonge by putting all of the nominees in their box thingy and randomized the seeding. I don't remember who nominated what outside of a few.
Rules: You can only vote on pairs where you have seen both films. Obviously, I can't know for sure if you have seen both or not, so please be fair to everybody and don't abuse this rule. I'll leave each set open for a week to give a little time to watch a film or two. Anybody can vote. Have fun.

The Hustler (1961) vs Slap Shot (1977)
I've seen The Hustler, but not Slap Shot. The Hustler's great.
The Blind Side (2009) vs I, Tonya (2017)
I've not seen I, Tonya. I have seen The Blind Side. It's legitimately one of my least favorite movies of all-time. It's so disrespectful to Michael Oher that it's not funny.
Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story (2004) vs Requiem for a Heavyweight (1962)
Seen Dodgeball, but not Requiem. Requiem looks really good.
Rocky IV (1985) vs The Champ (1974)
Seen Rocky IV, but not The Champ
Warrior (2011) vs Foxcatcher (2014)
Seen neither, Foxcatcher is the one that interests me more.
The Harder They Fall (1956) vs Sugar (2008)
Seen neither, but I'd like to see The Harder They Fall
Raging Bull (1980) vs The Hurricane (1999)
Don't really care for The Hurricane. Raging Bull is probably the odds-on favorite to win this whole thing.
Goon (2011) vs Jerry Maguire (1996)
I remember enjoying Jerry Maguire when I watched it, but hindsight has me thinking less and less of it as time goes by. It deserves a rewatch at some point. Goon is my nomination, so of course, I like it.
Raging Bull (1980) vs The Hurricane (1999)

Round 1, Set 1
The Hustler (1961) vs Slap Shot (1977)
Agonizing choice since I love both. Just about a tie.
The Blind Side (2009) vs I, Tonya (2017)
Didn't think much of I, Tonya and haven't seen The Blind Side.
Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story (2004) vs Requiem for a Heavyweight (1962)
Dodgeball was amusing and I haven't seen the other. It's been on my watchlist for a while.
Rocky IV (1985) vs The Champ (1974)
I quite like Rocky IV but haven't seen The Champ. I'd like to.
Warrior (2011) vs Foxcatcher (2014)
Easy choice.
The Harder They Fall (1956) vs Sugar (2008)
I'm not familiar with either.
Raging Bull (1980) vs The Hurricane (1999)
Raging Bull is a masterpiece.
Goon (2011) vs Jerry Maguire (1996)
Goon was at least enjoyable.

The Hustler (1961) vs Slap Shot (1977) These are BOTH my nominations so it's tough to choose between. Slap Shot is hilarious and while both DO feature, Paul Newman, Hustler is a notch or two above.
Everything else has one or both I have not seen so I'm unable to vote on them. I may try to see one or two to get some voting in

Rocky IV (1985) vs The Champ (1979)
I've seen The Champ (1979), but have not seen Rocky IV (1985).
Warrior (2011) vs Foxcatcher (2014)
I've seen Foxcatcher (2014), but have not seen Warrior (2011).

I've seen Jerry Maguire (1996), but have not seen Goon (2011).
Apparently I've seen only one movie from each match, (except for one match where I've seen neither movie), so I can't vote for anything yet. It looks like I have a whole bunch of sports movies to watch this week. :)

The Hustler (1961) vs Slap Shot (1977)
Tough matchup for Slap Shot. I'd have it over quite a few of these but The Hustler is beyond great.
The Blind Side (2009) vs I, Tonya (2017)
I hated The Blind Side. I quite like I, Tonya.
Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story (2004) vs Requiem for a Heavyweight (1962)
Requiem is one of my favourite boxing stories. Excellent film.
Rocky IV (1985) vs The Champ (1979)
Not a big fan of the Rocky sequels. I've not seen The Champ.
Warrior (2011) vs Foxcatcher (2014)
Warrior is good but Foxcatcher has the edge IMO. Close call.
The Harder They Fall (1956) vs Sugar (2008)
I've not seen either film.
Raging Bull (1980) vs The Hurricane (1999)
I really liked Denzel in The Hurricane but this is a no brainer for me.
Goon (2011) vs Jerry Maguire (1996)
I've not seen Goon. I rewatched Jerry Maguire not too long ago and thought it was ok.
Placeholder for now. I'll try and get to The Harder They Fall and Sugar in the next week.

I've seen The Champ (1979), but have not seen Rocky IV (1985).

Round 1, Set 1
The Hustler (1961) vs Slap Shot (1977)
(Newman vs. Newman. Slap Shot might be the best hockey film I've seen, but that's still not saying much. The Hustler is one of the best films ever made.)
The Blind Side (2009) vs I, Tonya (2017)
(I'm still shocked that The Blind Side received a BP nomination and Best Actress Oscar. I found it very generic and mediocre. Didn't quite love I, Tonya as a whole, but did love a lot of the individual aspects, such as the performances, soundtrack and dark humor.)
Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story (2004) vs Requiem for a Heavyweight (1962)
(Never found Dodgeball all that funny. Requiem for a Heavyweight is Top-50 material for me. Great movie. Excellent script by Rod Serling that's sort of like a boxing version of Aronofsky's The Wrestler. The opening POV shot features Muhammad Ali when he was still Cassius Clay.)
Rocky IV (1985) vs The Champ (1979)
(I think The Champ was voted the saddest movie ever made. It didn't have much of an emotional impact on me and I think it's average in quality, but Rocky IV is just a glorified music video.)
Warrior (2011) vs Foxcatcher (2014)
(Found Foxcatcher too slow, too ponderous, too distant. And that prosthetic nose on Steve Carrell was also incredibly distracting. Warrior doesn't bring anything new to the table, but it's a well-acted, well-told story regardless.)
The Harder They Fall (1956) vs Sugar (2008)
(The Harder They Fall is worth watching just to see Bogart's last performance, but it's also a very good movie in its own right that deals with the corruption in boxing. Unfortunately I haven't seen Sugar.)
Raging Bull (1980) vs The Hurricane (1999)
(First round TKO.)
Goon (2011) vs Jerry Maguire (1996)
(Not a fan of Jerry Maguire, especially with how overquoted it became, but none of the jokes landed for me in Goon.)

The Hustler vs Slap Shot
Winner: The Hustler 8 - 1
This was a predictable victory for The Hustler, and a bit of bad luck on the draw for Slap Shot. Paul Newman showed up twice in the first match of the tournament, but he'll be taking off his skates and keeping his cue out for at least one more round.
The Blind Side vs I, Tonya
Winner: I, Tonya 7 - 1
I wasn't sure how this one would turn out, but I know, despite not having seen it, I was rooting for I, Tonya all the way. The Blind Side is one of my least favorite movies. The trailers and clips I've seen from I, Tonya make me want to seek it out. It looks like Margot Robbie probably gives a killer performance, but this film probably glorifies the villain of the tale more than it should. Poor Nancy Kerrigan can't catch a break, unless it comes from a cold, hard pipe.
Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story vs Requiem for a Heavyweight
Winner: Requiem for a Heavyweight 3 - 1
Talk about a styles clash. Not a surprising result here. I don't figure the folks going out of their way to see Requiem are the types that are probably going to react that strongly to Dodgeball. Or, at least, not as strongly.
Rocky IV vs The Champ
Winner: The Champ 4 - 1
I know next to nothing about The Champ other than THE CHAMP IS HEEERREEE DUN DUNNA DUUUUNNNNN (like John Cena....)
Warrior vs Foxcatcher
Winner: Warrior 7 - 1
For some reason, I thought Foxcatcher was more positively received around these parts than Warrior. Turns out: I was wrong. Personally, I think Steve Carell looks suitably creepy to play DuPont, fake nose and all.
The Harder They Fall vs Sugar
Winner: The Harder They Fall 2 - 0
One has Humphrey Bogart, one doesn't. What did you expect to happen?
Raging Bull vs The Hurricane
Winner: Raging Bull 9 - 2
Speaking of "what did you expect to happen?", DeNiro KOs Denzel any day of the week, except for the day of the week where they actually have to fight or any day of the week from like the last 25(?) years.
Goon vs Jerry Maguire
Winner: Jerry Maguire 6 - 2
We don't like hockey films. If you are on the ice in this tournament, you better leave your stick and pucks at home.

Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006) vs Angels in the Outfield (1951)
Have only seen Ricky Bobby and I didn't care for it.
Damn Yankees (1958) vs Million Dollar Baby (2004)
Only seen Million Dollar Baby and it's pretty good.
The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner (1962) vs A League of Their Own (1992)
Good match.
Journeyman (2017) vs Unforgivable Blackness: The Rise and Fall of Jack Johnson (2004)

The Foot Fist Way (2006) vs Moneyball (2011)
American Flyers (1985) vs Rush (2013) - It's been so long since I've seen American Flyers but I watched it a lot on when it premiered on HBO because Alexandra Paul was kind of crush worthy for me during that stretch of the 80's but I have to go with Rush. Racing > Biking (usually)
Remember the Titans (2000) vs Caddyshack (1980) - No brainer
Bang the Drum Slowly (1973) vs The Set-Up (1949) - Haven't seen Set-Up

Round 1, Set 2
Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006) vs Angels in the Outfield (1951)
(I love Talladega Nights, especially as someone who used to be into Nascar, although I barely pay any attention to the sport anymore. I watched the 1994 Disney remake of Angels in the Outfield as a kid, but I've never seen the original.)
Damn Yankees (1958) vs Million Dollar Baby (2004)
(Million Dollar Baby is great, but I'm not familiar with Damn Yankees unless we're talking about the Ted Nugent supergroup.)
The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner (1962) vs A League of Their Own (1992)
(I've recorded The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner a few times, but always end up deleting it to make room for other stuff. A League of Their Own is pretty good.)
Journeyman (2017) vs Unforgivable Blackness: The Rise and Fall of Jack Johnson (2004)
(Never even heard of 'em.)
The Foot Fist Way (2006) vs Moneyball (2011)
(The Foot Fist Way is an amusing rough draft of the type of humor Jody Hill and McBride would later hone in other projects. I had zero interest in the subject matter of Moneyball, but the excellent script made me care.)
American Flyers (1985) vs Rush (2013)
(Rush is very good, but haven't seen or heard of the other.)
Remember the Titans (2000) vs Caddyshack (1980)
(Despite its popularity and reputation as one of the greatest comedies, I've always had a sneaking suspicion that I wouldn't like Caddyshack since I don't like Chase, Dangerfield or golf. Watched it for the first time ever this morning and my suspicions were correct. The gopher and Cindy Morgan's t*ts were the only worthwhile parts. The movie's scattershot nature made the runtime feel twice as long. I haven't seen Remember the Titans since it first came out. Doubt I'd like it as much now as I did back then, but still confident that it's better than Caddyshack.)
Bang the Drum Slowly (1973) vs The Set-Up (1949)
(Two movies I've been meaning to watch.)

I thought the idea of these tournaments wasn't just to vote for movies that we've already seen, but it's to watch movies that we haven't seen yet.
I've watched a bunch of movies for this tournament that I never would have watched on my own, and most of them turned out to be pretty good movies, (or at least a lot better than I expected).

The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner was okay, but it just wasn't my type of movie.
Journeyman (2017) vs Unforgivable Blackness: The Rise and Fall of Jack Johnson (2004)
Journeyman felt like more of a heavy drama than a sports movie, but it was an interesting look at the effect the brutality of boxing has on the boxers. I had a hard time finding Unforgivable Blackness: The Rise and Fall of Jack Johnson, and after finding it, I wasn't happy that it turned out to be a documentary that was almost four hours long, but I watched it anyway. Sadly, after all that, this wasn't even a close match for me. :(

The Winners:
A League of Their Own (2 - 1 over The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner)
Moneyball (5 - 0 over The Foot Fist Way)
Remember the Titans (6 - 2 over Caddyshack)

Round 1, Set 3
The Damned United (2009) vs This Sporting Life (1963)
(Seen neither.)
The Fighter (2010) vs Rocky (1976)
(The Fighter is very good, mostly thanks to Bale's great performance, but Rocky is as iconic as they come.)
Death Race 2000 (1975) vs The Longest Yard (1974)
(Love Death Race 2000, but I just watched The Longest Yard and might now consider it the best football movie I've seen. Great cast, the football game feels authentic, the understated humor is effortless, tons of great characters, Burt once again proves why he was the quintessential man's man. It reminded me some of Cool Hand Luke, as well.)
North Dallas Forty (1979) vs Rollerball (1975)
(Yet to watch the former, although it's been on my watchlist for awhile. Rollerball is solid if unspectacular.)
Cinderella Man (2005) vs Field of Dreams (1989)
(Cinderella Man is a great movie that never got proper recognition. I like Field of Dreams, but not as much as most seem to given its iconic stature.)
The Color of Money (1986) vs Breaking Away (1979)
(The Color of Money is one of my least favorites from Scorsese, although it's been awhile since I watched it. I mostly just remember Tom Cruise twirling his pool stick in seemingly every scene. Yet to see Breaking Away.)
White Men Can't Jump (1992) vs The Long Run (2001)
(I love White Men Can't Jump. Woody and Snipes have great chemistry, the dialogue is surprisingly strong, and it's the only time I've ever found Rosie Perez somewhat sexy. Haven't heard of The Long Run.)
Rocco and His Brothers (1960) vs The Karate Kid (1984)
(Not sure I've heard of the former. The Karate Kid has remained one of my favorite movies since I was a child.)

wow, he did do several before this. And, seeing Long Riders the next year, I had forgotten he played in that one.

Round 1, Set 3
The Damned United (2009) vs This Sporting Life (1963)
I wasn't really a fan of either movie. :(
The Fighter (2010) vs Rocky (1976)
I'm not really a fan of either movie, but I just found most of the characters in The Fighter annoying.
Death Race 2000 (1975) vs The Longest Yard (1974)
North Dallas Forty (1979) vs Rollerball (1975)
Cinderella Man (2005) vs Field of Dreams (1989)
The Color of Money (1986) vs Breaking Away (1979)
Breaking Away has been on my watchlist for years. I'm glad I finally watched it.
White Men Can't Jump (1992) vs The Long Run (2001)
The Long Run was a nice hidden gem.
Rocco and His Brothers (1960) vs The Karate Kid (1984)
I haven't seen Rocco and His Brothers (1960) yet.
Does anyone have a link for Rocco and His Brothers (1960)?

I probably shouldn't say anything, but this has been slowly eating away at me for about a week now.
It seems like I'm the only person watching any movies for this tournament, and it's kind of upsetting. I've always thought of these tournaments as a way to get some of our favorite movies out there for people to watch, but while I've been watching everyone else's nominations, almost nobody has been watching my nominations. I don't expect everyone to like the movies that I nominated, but it would have been nice if a few people at least tried to watch them. Sadly, this has been a very disappointing tournament. :(

I'll freely admit I'm not watching movies for this tournament gbg, sorry but that's not going to change as sports movies are simply not a type of film I generally have much interest in. As previously stated I only added a few noms to this as they were hardly flooding in at that time. That said I've never viewed these types of tournaments as ones where there is any sort of obligation to watch any of the movies put forward, more like vote if you've seen both in a match or don't if you haven't.
Of course that doesn't mean people can't watch as many as they want in order to be able to turn in more votes, just that they don't have to - personally I think you are amazing for watching as many as you do, especially as some may quite possibly have little or no real interest to you. Sorry that I'm not watching your movies (tbh I don't even know which ones are yours .... or anyone else's for that matter) - it's certainly nothing personal, as I said earlier I'm not watching any of the nominations that I've not already seen for this one.

No disrespect was intended towards mark f, and mark f, I sincerely apologize to you if I offended you in any way.
Chypmunk, I realize that mark f has voted in every round, but he has also already seen every movie that was nominated. My comments were about the people who nominated movies and then just voted for what they've already seen, and basically just ignored the rest of the movies. Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought the point of nominating movies was to get people who haven't seen them to watch them, (basically I'll watch your nomination if you watch my nomination), but nobody seems to be watching anything for this tournament. :(

I'm not trying to offend anyone, and I apologize to you, (and anyone else who I may have offended), but my comments are not aimed at anyone specific. They're just meant to be general comments about my feelings, not "digs" at anyone else.
I understand that there's no rule that everyone (or anyone) has to watch all (or even any) of the nominated movies, but I just think it's sad that most people aren't watching the movies that they haven't seen yet. For me, it just defeats the whole purpose of the tournament. :(

Well this is my first movie tournament ever, and I think I prefer the format/rules/set-up of a Hall of Fame so I understand where you're coming from.
And For me same goes with Song tournaments, unless it's Chypmunk song tournament format cause that set-up really works/rocks!

Major League (1989) vs Real Steel (2011)
(Not crazy about Major League, but it's fairly entertaining/amusing. Real Steel sucked.)
Rudy (1993) vs Cool Runnings (1993)
(Both corny feel-good movies about huge underdogs. Hard not to feel emotional/inspired by Rudy. I like John Candy in Cool Runnings, but the movie's too Disney, especially with its humor.)
Eddie the Eagle (2015) vs 42 (2013)
(42 is a solid but forgettable biopic. Eddie the Eagle is an underrated/underseen underdog tale. Hugh Jackman and the dude who played Eddie were both great.)
Bull Durham (1988) vs The Wrestler (2008)
(Bull Durham is good, but The Wrestler is an all-time favorite.)
Bend It Like Beckham (2002) vs 8 Seconds (1994)

Bump, just finding this now. I'm not a huge sports fan and that largely translates to sports films, however there are a handful of truly great pictures either focused on a sport or using one as a backdrop or allegory:
1. The Hustler
2. Le Mans
3. Raging Bull
4. White Men Can't Jump
5. The Lusty Men
6. He Got Game
7. Bull Durham
8. Body and Soul
9. The Wrestler
10. Breaking Away
