The creative forces behind New Girl have come up with the funniest comedy pilot I have seen so far this fall. The show focuses on a newly single parent named Will Cooper (Former SNL regular Taran Killam) who is still in denial about the fact that his wife is gone and has jumped head first into single parenting but is being coached on the art of single parenting from four veteran single parents (Brad Garrett, Leighton Meester, Jake Choi, Kimmie Lewis) on how to get past the hump and be tolerable as a single parent. Usually I find child characters talking like adults kind of annoying but it really works here. Killam is charming and Garrett steals every scene he is in. Also loved Choi as a 20 year old single dad who is still trying to live like he's just single. The writing is crisp and smart, Meester is kind of annoying, but it was way funnier than anything else I've seen this fall. I wouldn't object to a full season of this one being ordered.

I disagree about this show. I thought it was pretty bad, and I hated Brad Garrett the most in it. I loved him in "Everybody Loves Raymond", but other than his voice-over work in Finding Nemo, I don't think I've liked him in anything else that I've seen him in.

Ep 2 was just as funny as the first with standout work from Killem and Garrett. Watching the pathetic Will trying to bond with grumpy old man Douglas is a lot of fun. I'm also loving that one of the parents is actually finding time for romance now, but can't stop thinking about her kid. I also love the way the kids all talk like they're 40.

I won't lie, but I thought ep 3...I love the fact that Angie's son seems to like Will better than his own mom. I hope they continue to explore this storyline arc because it's making the character of Angie a lot more interesting, even though I still find Leighton Meester kind of annoying. Also loved Brad Garrett's meltdown in the pet shop. I may be alone on this, but I think this show is really funny.

Ep 4 was funny, but they really need to get rid of Leighton Meester...she is SO not funny.
