View Full Version : What happens if Pinocchio says "My nose will now grow"?

It creates a paradox. As we all know, Pinocchio’s nose grows when he tells a lie. So, if his nose grows when he says this, it wouldn’t be a lie, so his nose wouldn’t grow. But then the statement would be untrue, so his nose would grow. But that would again make the statement true, so his nose wouldn’t grow. Pretty much, Pinocchio’s nose would have to grow to make his statement not a lie, but it also can’t grow or else the statement wouldn’t be a lie. Can someone explain this?

His nose will fall off. And when he becomes a real boy, he won't have a nose.
If someone could explain it, it wouldn't be a paradox.
