This past Wednesday, I started to have sharp pains in my side and chest. I lied on my bed until finally, I got the sense to get up and do something about it, and called the hospital.
The doctor came in and after testing me , I was was diagnosed with pneumonia. I have inflamation of the lungs and pain occurs a little now and then. Though I am given meds and an inhaler and stuff for it, it's a major pain in rump.
I just have those thoughts of hearing news stories , about people dying from it. It just scares me.
Hey, like anything else, I'll just take care of myself and I'll be ok. Right?

Don't worry too much about it, Jason. You're young and healthy and should recover just fine. I've had bronchial pneumonia a number of times when I worked outdoors in the winter. Good antibiotics and rest will clear it up. I understand the first time having it can be a bit frightening, but trust me, you'll be alright. You only waited a couple of days before going to the doctor too, so it was diagnosed pretty early. When you hear about people dying from it, you usually hear the person is old, weak, or diagnosed late stage. Take some multi-vitamins as well, if you have any. They'll help you to regain your strength. Good fortune and doG speed, brudda.

Don't worry to much jrs. My 80 year-old mother-Inlaw had pneumonia many times this past year. She recovered each time...and this was a woman who had Emphysema. As Slay said, your young/healthy and should recover fine....just don't forget to take your medicine and get lots of rest. And always keep your inhaler near. I hope you feel better soon and take it easy.

Does your doctor want to see you again?

Like you and Slay said, I need rest to take my meds which I will. :) My meds are taken at certain times of the day, and I am following that schedule. The doc though...wants to see me this coming week for a check up and i will going back to work hopefully by Friday.
Thanks for your concern. :):)

I had pneumonia on my first birthday! November 1984. I blew out my first candle with phlegm. The wish never came true.

Anyway, if you do die, JRS, rest assured that The Silver Bullet will start a "R.I.P. JRS" thread.

I was in hospital for almost 5 days myself and I had oxygen stuck up my nose, an IV and I had to have breathing excercises every 4 hours.
As for the meals........they were well, let's just say they I HAD to them no matter what.

Hmm...I was under the impression that you caught it early. I didn't know you were hospitalized at all. Good thing you finally went in then. That sounds like late stage all right. Dangerous at that point. But, youre home now, so you must be just about aaalllllll better. Is your Mom making lots of chicken soup for you?

Who forgot you slay ?

They were calling me Slay instead of my given name. Annie always calls me by my given na...na...name...*sob* Here I go again...;)

With the doc finding out I had pneumonia in my left lung, and it was bad then with the x-rays, of course hospitalization was necessary. I am out now and need to move out and about to get my body back to shape. With my meds, I will be better ...eventually .

I'm sorry to hear you had it so bad jrs. Can you feel the med's working? Is it getting easier for you the breath?

Let us know what your doctor says when you see him this week. :yup:

Looks like it's time for another one. Look at the picture:

I've had pneumonia twice, both times it started off with bronchitis. Its no fun not being able to breathe. At least you have some down time to watch movies. :) I hope you feel better soon.

It came back from the doc, and he said just to keep taking the meds. I am now doing better which is good and he told me see him again in 4 weeks for more x-rays, to recheck my lungs.

Maybe a nice pair of breasts over your lungs will keep them safe. :D Check with doc.
