Movie/Story Idea Marketplace

Hello, I am developing a website where entertainment writers (students, novices, and professionals) and the public can sell movie/story ideas to college students pursuing careers in entertainment industries such as film, TV, novels, anime, and comic books. Entertainment professionals will also have an opportunity to purchase ideas, but the price may be higher depending on the budget of the project they plan to use the concept for.

HOW IT WORKS:

You submit a story idea with a visual and entertainment fans (e.g. film enthusiasts) will vote for concepts they would like to see produced. The voting feature of the website shows the demand for a movie/story idea to potential buyers.

When a person purchases a concept, they can obtain exclusive rights or non-exclusive rights. The pricing has not been finalized at this time, but one example of the cost for college students to acquire non-exclusive rights for a story idea would be $5 - $30. You may ask, “Why such a minimal price?” Well, most of your potential buyers will be college students on a budget. But I do project that a concept in high demand will motivate aspiring entertainment creators to purchase and put their own spin on the story to get their talent out in front of an eager audience. If 200 people purchase the same concept for $5 each, the original idea creator will earn $1,000. Also, the idea creator will be contractually required to be compensated by a concept buyer with royalty payments for any entertainment products sold using the story idea. When you look at the number of fan fiction writers (e.g. wattpad.com) on the internet, you can see the opportunity. As the website grows it will become more apparent that you are really selling an audience you have generated more so than an idea.

More website features will be revealed at a later date.

IDEA SUBMISSION RULES:

When you submit a story idea, you must provide a scan or screen shot of documentation proving you own the copyright. Also, at least one (1) professional level visual (colored concept art, live action movie scene image, trailer, or 15 – 30 second short film [showing a typical scene.]) of the concept is also needed.

More details will be revealed at a later date.

Thank you for taking the time to read about this website idea!

In the comments below, I would appreciate getting feedback from you if you have the time.

How likely do you think you would submit a movie idea to sell on this website when it's launched?

What do you like about this website idea?

How would you improve this website concept?

Thanks again for your help!

This wouldn't really be up my alley right now, but I definitely see the appeal and potential. The idea submission rules may need some tweaking, but again, I think this is worth a try.

You'd make more money if you charged people to submit their movie ideas. Damn, that's a good idea, I think I'll go make a website;)
