The crisis has cost captain Steve Smith his captaincy. Is it worth doing such cheating just for winning a cricket game ? Is this war or what ?

The Australian cricket team tried to tamper with the ball , so that the ball swings more and will be difficult to bat against when bowled by them . This was in the match against South Africa.

Australian cricket captain Steve Smith had to resign amidst tears after his team was caught on camera tampering with the ball.

I was asking if a game like cricket ( formerly called gentleman's game ) is some kind of war that it has to be won at all costs including open cheating? For ball tampering is open cheating.

This is a storm in a teacup. Other cricketing nations have been guilty of this and have got a wrist slap. As it is the hi profile Aussie cricket team.. our national admin Cricket Australia has slapped them with an over the top penalty to make an example of them . humiliate them in other words. Blokes like Faf du Plessis, Aktar even the great Wakar Younis must be having a chuckle as they all have been accused of ball tampering. Not to forget Poms Atherton and Hussain.

This happens all the time in baseball. They call it "sportsmanship."
