They should quit.

I used to like them. Now I'd shoot them at sight.
I gave up on them after Load, but now I just don't want to be associated with them in any way even.
aww.. fine fine.. i like em and was hoping to find some people here that like them too. but ohhhh well.
and p-diddy or whatever [just kidding piddzilla, you know you're great], how is this thread exhaustive?

I still listen to the first four albums.
i got into metallica just recently because one of my good friends really likes them. i actually really like the load and reload era, and a mix of their older and newer stuff. i didn't like st. anger at first, but now i think it is okay, some songs are pretty good. could be much better. but their older stuff is definately where it's at. ;]

It isn't.

Yeah they were cool back then. Creeping Death and For Whom the Bell Tolls are great tracks.

I think St. Anger is the best album they've put out since the black album, but it still is a far cry from the Metallica we used to all know and love. What good are they without their solos? And why did Lars feel that it was necessary to drop the snares almost completely this was very aggravating to me.

Oh, Lars realized that there is no market for old school metal, so he decided to make an album which will resemble Linkin Park and such crapola.
Other words, they sold out.

Yeah, but it was like they tried to make it sound so grungy it just turned out to be crap. I guess that's kind of what happened to Korn too.
hehehe.. ahh yes.. it's like these heavy grungy guitars and vocals then a PING PING PING in the background.. ahahahahhh.. lars.. why?
still love it though. hehe.

yes yes.. creeping death is one of my faves.. especially the live performance recordings when the crowd chants 'DIE DIE!'
and speaking of creeping death.. check out DOKAKA's cover of it here (http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/479/dokaka.html). it's great. seriously... definately worth a listen. it's under 'old songs' about half-way down. enjoy.
Hey metallic's a pretty rocking band, but most fans probably don't use Movie Forums. I heard really good reviews on the documentary about them and these people aren't even fans of them/rock music, so hey it must be good. It's kind of an inside look to how the band has been going recently, I'd reccommend it even though I haven't seen it cause it sounds like something that's pretty rare and pretty cool. :)
I never really got in to Metallica all that much.
After listening to bands like Motorhead and Iron Maiden, I always thought Metallica was a step in the wrong direction.
I didn't even get in to The Black Album or ...And Justice For All.
By the time they started playing Lollapalooza, I stopped paying attention to them.
I'll take Slayer over them any day.

Both Motorhead and Iron Maiden blow Metallica out of the water any day.

*LMFAO* Are you kidding me? The Black Album was far better then St. Anger. You are the only person that I know that actually liked it, and to even compare, and surpass it to The Black Album is just asinine. I agree that maybe it’s time (it has been for sometime now) for Metallica to retire.

I wasn't saying that The Black Album was worse than St. Anger. I was saying that it was their best since The Black Album, because most of their albums after it just weren't very good.

Ugh, St. Anger...I like Metallica but they're new stuff isn't really my thing. I hope they're next album is good, cause if it isn't! *Shakes fist* :p
Metallica is one of my favorite bands (musically). Except their new stuff is crap and I hate Lars. They are sell outs. When they first started they swore they wouldn't be sell outs and after their 2nd album they became what most bands are now...mainstream sellouts.
