That's right, the UK's panel show about ******** artistry is coming to MoFo. If you're not sure what that is, and have half an hour to spare, I highly recommend watching any episode (they're all good), as I will be trying to keep it as close to its original format as possible, adapting of course, for board use.
For those of you who are curious, may want to play but don't have the time to watch, it's a game in which teams have to try and detect the other teams' ********. Everyone supplies me with one funny truth or fact about themselves. I make up a lot of nonsense. Everyone gets a turn to be in the spotlight, And when you tell me you're ready for the panel, I will give you a statement to copy/paste as your own in thread. The other teams will ask questions, banter, and get more information to a certain whether you're bullshitting or not. If I happen to feed you your own fact/truth back at you, well, you don't want them scoring a point do you? :lol: Up to you how you pitch it (and also, that depends on what fact you give me. Some things are so funny they sound like ********, but they're true.)
Round 2 would involve an object. Round 3, a person, but don't worry, the story has to be true, but the picture can be a random "close enough resemblance" on the internet. I'm not here to dox anybody. This is all in good, light hearted fun. It's geared at people who can spin a yarn on the spot, appeals to writing abilities, and even if you like like the banter.
The host is there to lightly troll and also ask questions. It's like that in the show too, but the host doesn't give the game away. There's no vote off, it's point based, and there may be an Individual Liar trophy at the end, but I haven't decided yet. In the show, it's usually whoever made the host laugh the most/made up the wildest defense of the nonsense they got given.
There will be either 2 or 3 teams of, depending on interest and time. This is a first time thing on two levels. I've never hosted, and this hasn't been a MoFo game before.
I have a few already interested and one submitted a fact. :D

Team heads are usually needed just to round everyone's guess and decide which to go with if there's a tie breaker, also since it's a show, they're the ones who are permanent show members. That's not necessary here, so I would lean towards you arranging yourselves in teams. I would suggest one head, though. CiCi. CiCi's a fan of the show, knows what to expect and will be a great team leader. Team leaders tend to also be the head banterers. I know that's not a word, but it should be. :lol:
CiCi and TheUsualSuspect are in, rauldc14, HashtagBrownies, cricket, CosmicRunaway are interested, and Sexy Celebrity is on the fence (the fun place to be). :lol: There's no pressure, by the way. I'll run this with even a few players, so even interested parties and fence sitters who prefer to observe the first game, I really won't be offended if you opt out. <3

I'll think about playing but i'm not going to be around much for the next three weeks or so so i'm not sure if i can commit. Also a concern is that the show works so much because they have to come up with stuff on the spot if it's a lie or they have to make it seem like a lie on the spot if it's true, and we get to see their faces when they tell it. I'm sure it will be fun anyway just saying.

Yeah think that's my favourite story on the show. A massive part of it is in the reactions of everyone else. The Bob Mortimer compilation is hilarious too as it all sounds like complete nonsense.
The show didn't truly take off until around the time Rob Brydon became host which was Season 3 i think in case anyone is interested in going through some of it.

As soon as I have a funny true thing about everyone, we can start! I just have to make a banner. For frill! And of course, check for a roundabout time that would be convenient for everyone. It will be most successful when everyone's about at more or less the same time so it retains an almost "live" feel. There won't be any time to prepare for if you get a lie to read out, just like on the show, so the quicker the other teams can start with questions, the better.

How would you like to be arranged? I would say CiCi should be one team captain. I'm still waiting on a story or two. If Raul's still in, then we can be bold and try 4 a side, and use Camo (if he's like to be) as a tie breaker if team leaders can't whip their teams into a majority decision?

That's exactly how I was thinking. Either the captain gets ballsy, or you tiebreak. We can make captains get ballsy in you're busy or something. :lol:

Don't worry too much about whose team you're on since the skills that one has in Survivor may not necessarily help you here. :lol:
The discussion about whether a contestant is lying or not will happen in thread, so if anyone has a train of thought you agree with, you still get the benefit of their way of thinking. :D

One lie/truth could be over in 20 minutes and all you would need here is the person telling the lie/truth and the other teams. So 7/9 would have to be here, but not everyone would actually have to. Maybe sorting the teams by timezones could solve a team being here at roughly the same time? Rodent and Yam are from the UK so they could be in a team. Suspect and Cosmic are from Canada so those two together, etc. I dunno.

Yeah i read some interview think it was with Lee Mack where he explained that they know what the lie will be, think they only find out when they get there giving them a short time to prepare but still.

DAMN! I still enjoy it though. They still don't know what kind of questions they'll get, and now I know why they go so hard at each other :lol:
I'll hold off to see what everyone thinks. Do you guys want a little time to get game face on, or be taken completely by surprise and try to see how good you are at bluffing (or not) on the spot?

I might also put out the fact that I won't be here for most of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday because I have college on those days so take that into mind for when we start playing
The taken by surprise one seems like it'd work alot better for a forum. Think they just do that to avoid the chance of a boring/unfunny one with alot of stuttering or whatever.
There's a mystery person on QI who asks for the questions in advance, Stephen Fry mentioned it once but refused to say who it was. The main theories are Rory McGrath or John Sessions so they can make it seem like they know everything or Jimmy Carr so he can prepare jokes. Really hope it's not the latter that's somehow sadder than the former to me.

Jimmy isn't actually that funny on the spot, he's just insanely well prepared; he's like a joke robot. He's spoken about it before. Here's a post i made about it before:
That is very cool Adam. Jimmy is a joke nerd if there is such a thing. He has written a book on jokes and is really into stuff like the first recorded jokes and shortest jokes, he has a four word one which i can't remember atm. He has also freely admitted he isn't as quick witted as alot of other comedians, but he understands the structure of jokes alot better so he is usually ready with an altered joke along the same lines as a response to the most common jokes, it is why he is so good at dealing with hecklers. Very little is on the spot with Jimmy which is why other comedians joke with him that he is robotic. which he usually anticipates and robotically has a response for :D. His laugh is also part of his routine particularly on panel shows when he is expected to laugh at other peoples jokes, if you watch his early appearances he has a normal laugh.
Despite all this i know for a fact Sean Lock genuinely cracks him up, some of the best moments in 8 Out Of 10 Cats is Jimmys reactions to Sean. One of my favourite ever 8 Out Of 10 Cats moments is in does countdown when Jimmy has to compose himself after Sean said to Miles as a reward i wont spit on you after we have sex tonight :laugh:
I mean technically you could say that means he's better on the spot than most but basically he has altered stock responses and he updates them regularly. It's very unnatural but it's kinda what i love about him since he comes across like a big robot.
The hecklers aren't set up, he just has various prepared responses ready for them. Forgot to add that.

Yeah that's put on too or at least exaggerated...sorry. Watch his early stuff and it's more normal. Watch some Sarah Millican's early stuff and you'll think it's a different person, she insanely upped her Gordie accent when she realized it was getting laughs.

I can join if you want. Although you could just split them into two teams of four and do the captain decides thing or i could be a tiebreaker, that would make it easier to get people together since you'd only need 5 not 7. Up to you.

I'd actually wouldn't mind if this game acted a little bit like a recovery game for those coming down off a Survivor and need the edge taken off. :lol:

The tiny medals and the medals you get from enemies are different. You want to collect as many tiny medals as possible. If you go down the well in the SE corner of Aliahan, there's a man who will give you rewards based on how many tiny medals you have. You can check the bookcase near him to see what they are.
The medals you get for defeating monsters are not the same. They are just for collection purposes and serve no point other than bragging rights.

I'm about 90% sure i spoke to him. When i first started i played it for like an hour and i was talking to my gf at the same time so i was distracted, plus as i mentioned i hate the starts to Final Fantasy games so i impulsively skipped through alot of dialogue. I actually only took the two default characters they offer at first and had a three member party until i realized when they were all on Level 4 :laugh:

You don't need to speak to him in advance, so it doesn't really matter. He won't give you anything unless you have enough medals for a reward. You get the first at 5 medals, then at 10, and then it's every 10 medals after, but there is an extra reward at 35 and I think at 95 as well. You don't lose any medals when you get the associated reward, so it's worth checking back in with him every now and then.
