With so many shows centered around male characters, it's important not to forget that there are a lot of shows with women in the lead that are great too. Which are some of your favorites?
The Fall - Amazingly written crime mystery, with Gillian Anderson playing a brilliantly crafted down-to-earth but also independent and cocky inspector. You really get 100% on her side. It also has some positive feminist undertones.
The Golden Girls - What an incredible comedy team! Never fails to get not just one laugh out of me, but many! Out of the cast my favorite is Sophia, but the show would also not be as classic without Dorothy's sarcasm as well. A must for everyone.
Laverne & Shirley - Not quite as consistently laugh-out-loud as TGG, but still an immensely charming and very funny series. Garry Marshall made a few more shows starring women, but none as beloved as this one. Yet it's also kinda underrated, since it doesn't get as much acclaim as The Odd Couple or Happy Days for instance, even though they probably get pretty close in quality. At first I loved Shirley more, but later I've also really started to adore Laverne as well. Their chemistry feels so natural and unforced, and their interactions with each other is always bound to make me smile.
Crossing Jordan - More of a drama than a crime show, but that works to its advantage. You care about the characters so much, especially about Jordan herself. Lily is also very endearing, and her crush on Garret Macy is quite interesting, but it's not executed in an endlessly cliché (at this point at least) will-they-won't-they. Pretty good.
Here Comes Honey Boo-Boo - Now THIS one is just freaking AMAZI- Kidding. Just kidding.
