"Principal photography has begun in London on Amazon’s fantasy drama Good Omens. Based on the novel by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, the six-part series stars Michael Sheen as angel Aziraphale and David Tennant as demon Crowley. Check out the first on-set photo of the duo above.
Shooting will continue for six months in London, Oxfordshire and South Africa for a 2019 launch."

Frances McDormand and Benedict Cumberbatch are playing God and Satan, respectively, btw.

We hadn't seen this series back in 2019, so we fired it up on Amazon, and finished the 6-parter last night.
Good Omens (season 1) as a production is near astonishing. The detail, the settings, both the CGI and live action, the acting-- all are first rate. It amazes me that the obvious budget it took to make this 6 episode series was remarkable, especially for TV. The effects and set design felt more like a $200M movie.
David Tennant is brilliant as a demon. He rather shares chief characters with Michael Sheen, who plays an angel.
So the whole thing is very impressive. There's just one eensy-weensy problem though. It's not funny. Billed as a fantasy comedy, they aim to channel Monty Python type humor, but it rarely connects. Once one gets used to the characters, there's just no laughs.
Another surprise is that they used Frances McDormand as the narrator/voice of God. McDormand is a good actress but her voice is not distinctive, and her inflections are not really apt for comedy. Perhaps they were simply determined to use the Hollywood Queen of PC. But there are so many other actresses with more distinctive voices that could have been used.
They shot a 2nd season, and it's just been released on Amazon Prime. Some reviews I read suggested that the 2nd season is better than the 1st, so we might give it a look.
