So, has anyone seen the Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job 10 Year Anniversary Special?

If so, what did you think?

Also - engage in discussion of Tim and Eric now.

Anyone seen the "Billion Dollar Movie" (I have not).

I've had a weird relationship with this show over the years.

I remember when I first found it - a couple times I just turned it off as I was grossed out or was even a little angered that these two apparent hacks were trying to pass off their random and often disturbing scenarios as some kind of sketch comedy.
But it was like a car crash where I couldn't look away and found myself revisiting it. (Tim's description of the show's surreal concept as a hilarious nightmare is very appropriate).

And then there were points where I actually thought some things were funny (almost as if I suddenly connected to their private sense of humor) to the point where the lines from their skits began to grow on me like those from a cult movie.

I will say their Cinco products (commercial spoofs) which are probably the skits that most resemble straight comedy are all pretty hilarious in an absurd sort of way and could appeal even to those who can't stomach the rest of the show.

Their humor is definitely on the fence. Some skits disturb me. Others crack me up, while disturbing me. ;)

Tom Goes to the Mayor was a transitional show for me. The premises were at least level, show to show. And special guest voices were just great. I loved Jeff Goldblums character. Rat's off to ya!

The more I watch T&E the more I see how talented I think they are with the retro video editing, but they do push my limits at times. Their movie was on Netflix a few years ago. Might still be there.

Have you watched The Eric Andres Show?

I know of the Eric Andre Show and have seen bits of it, but never watched it enough to get into it. I know it's in a very similar vein as Tim & Eric.

I have to say about T&E, it's one of the only shows that actually makes me turn away from the TV at times (whether it's drool, or the inside of someone's mouth, or drinking from fake lactating nipples, cock roaches, spitting up, or eating hair)!

Tim's a very good singer, btw!

Or drinking from fake lactating nipples.

So many skits to choose from - hard to call them "favorites."
But I like the "dance off." It's actually kind of cute (till Eric gets squished).
And the one guy looks like Burt Reynolds!

Anyone who's ever watched Saturday Night Live will be able to appreciate this spoof.
(What they may not be able to appreciate is the funniest blurb: "Less Richard Dunn.")

This out there... but when I was an adolescent, PBS began airing old reruns of the Ernie Kovacs show.

The show had some straight comedy skits, but it also had a surreal quality to much of it which made it feel different from other comedy or variety shows of the time.

Of course, Kovacs lacked the grossness, shock value and some of the more modern "adult" humor aspects of Tim and Eric (although it didn't veer away from being a bit risque at times), but there was something similar about the surreal feelings of the shows. The way random skits, sight gags, bizarre characters, weird imagery, musical numbers, and spoofs were presented and loosely tied together by something that ran in between them or was referred back to resembles the format (if you can even call it that) of the Tim and Eric Show.

Instead of making me laugh, the Ernie Kovacs show always left me with a slightly puzzled and eerie feeling.

It makes me wonder if Kovacs' show could have been an influence or if Tim and Eric even know who Ernie Kovacs was?

Another interesting thing about Tim & Eric is the show's bizarre list of celebrity guest stars.

And then there's their list of celebrity look-a-likes such as Billy Crystals, Whoopsie Goldberg, and Robin Williams.

Apparently, there are new 2017 episodes of "Bedtime Stories" (which, in my book, have been hit or miss... mostly miss).

So are there going to be new episodes of "Awesome Show Great Job"?

I've never heard of him, but if he influenced them, and has that eerie vibe, I'd probably like his show. Probably hard to find now?

Lots of clips from the Ernie Kovacs show available on YouTube, but only one full episode that I can find. Don't know if it will demonstrate the similarities I've talked about, but it's worth a look.

With all the reports of Sexual Misconduct in the news, I couldn't help but remember this skit and how it may be even more pertinent in light of the current atmosphere now than when it was made.

I know much of it is a matter of perspective and interpretation, but I'm just wondering if anyone would think Mr. Henderson's treatment of his employee, Carol, might border on misconduct? What do you think?
