Now he is left with rising unpopularity at the anniversary. I've watched quite a bit of documentaries about the royals and IMO it was a bad marriage match. Charles had been in love with Camila before he even married Diana, in fact Charles and Camila go way back. But Camila ended up married and the Prince needed a Princess, so like lots of previous royal marriages, it was based on sensibilities more than love.
Don't get my wrong, Diana was a gem and the people really loved her. And by all accounts she was indeed genuine, caring and nice. Oh and very stylish!
But it's the media that tries to make Charles and Camila out as bad people, and they're not. By all accounts they're souls mates. It's sad that Diana went before her time...and I do not believe it was a conspiracy.
I think Camilla was not allowed to marry Charles because she was Catholic and the royal line needed an Anglican protestant. Or so I heard.

I think Camilla was not allowed to marry Charles because she was Catholic and the royal line needed a protestant. Or so I heard. That could be very well true. I know they had met and fallen in love when they were both very young, but the marriage wasn't possible then (but I can't remember why?).
It's sad thinking about the loss of Diana. From all accounts, she was starting to enjoy her life and becoming her own person.

The answer to that lies in what makes one person love another at all. Why does a man (or woman) fall in love with an uglier specimen than his/her current partner? Bear in mind, we don't know what they're like in person, but from what I've read, there wasn't real love between Diana and Charles, ever, but there was with Camilla. There's a lot to be said for having a real partner. Beauty isn't everything, and all nice people aren't instant matches for others.

Maybe it's because his wife couldn't stand to be in his company for more than 10 seconds?
They weren't meant for each other. Simple as that.

Diana used to claim that she was in love with Charles until she found out about Camilla.
I was 8 and on a business trip in London with mum when Diana, Dodi and Henri were killed, it was the early hours and news spread round the hotel, people were putting tv's on and ringing down to reception. When we went out that day the outpouring of grief was immense, to actually be there to feel the atmosphere was surreal.
I was four and weirdly can't remember hearing much about it. My family don't give a crap about the royals but it's still something everyone was talking about so it's odd i don't have any memories of it when i do of other things from that time.

Yeah we're not into the royals either, they cost taxpayers too much.

His mother should have let him mrry Camilla back when they started going out in the 70s. Diana's life would have been hell being with that knob, but to say she didnt know about the three people in the marriage before they got married implies she's an airhead (not you, Rules). Everyone in that incestuous social circle knew Chuck and cam were banging.

I remember the news when it happened, and that was enhanced because my mom liked her, I think mostly because they were both born in 1961, and both married in 1981....
She liked the band Supertramp, so she's fine in my book.
Who remembers seeing Fergie in the newspapers having her toes sucked? Yak!! 😝

I was travelling at the time and my dad sent me some magazines from home. That was on the cover of one. I brought it up with an english tourist and she went off her head saying australian gutter press lways made sht up about the royal family. LOL. I guess she got a surprise when she got home.

Haha! 😆. I gotta say she is a bit of a loose cannon.

She was fun when she first arrived on the scene and I thought she'd breath some life into that house, but what an entitled twat she turned into. Where on earth did all the money go? And I saw an interview with her - might have been some crap like 60 minutes, where the journo asked the wrong question and she stormed out. Whatever happened to edward? He never seems mentioned any more. And what about the youngest one? I think he wanted to be an actor.

Prince Edward is a lazy sod, i don't think he does anything. Fergie got stung by an undercover journalist, she tried to sell access to her ex husband Andrew, surely that's treason, orf with her head!! Lol. 😆
Yeah I saw that.
And I only just discovered Mountbatten was a raging filthy pedo so why would Liz have taken his advice on who Chalres should marry.

I didn't know that, filthy beast. Andrew was recently accused of sexual assault against young women, he kept his head down while it was in the press, then emerged when there was no charges to be brought against him.

The IRA did the world a favour, then.
Havent heard a thing about Andrew since she set him up.

He's busy flying off in helicopters to play golf... on my taxes😡
She's worth 330 million. Why tax payers are still covering her arse is beyond me.

Camilla is not a Roman Catholic. Her ex-husband was.
That could be very well true. I know they had met and fallen in love when they were both very young, but the marriage wasn't possible then (but I can't remember why?).
The marriage was perfectly possible, but Charles waited too long. He went off on a tour of Australia & when he returned Camilla had married someone else.
Yeah we're not into the royals either, they cost taxpayers too much.
Untrue. The Royal Family costs the British public about 50 cents each per year.
Who remembers seeing Fergie in the newspapers having her toes sucked? Yak!! 😝
Fergie is so ghastly & she never ever goes away. So tacky.

Edward is the youngest.

Edward is the youngest.
Correct. I mixed up the names edward and andrew. Painkillers fry my brain.

Wanted to like it, but didn't believe in any of the characters. Always a deal-breaker for me.

I think you'd like it, Rules. Most expensive show made to date. Thread here for it if you want a peak. The wardrobes alone are gobsmacking, and the sets to die for,

The wardrobes alone are gobsmacking, and the sets to die for, I looked at the link Stirc posted and The Crown looks pretty cool. And I think Netflix DVD might have it, so hell yeah I love mini series, especially if there based on real stuff. Glad you guys mentioned that show.

It's a netflix original I think. I didnt even want to see it but my brothers of all people raved about it. I thought I would just check the pilot to see why it was so expensive. Blown away like mountbatten (too much?). It;s just stunning, and the acting is amazing. Claire Foy is incredible.
I just checked in the crown thread. No spoilers, just some chat and a trailer. You're safe.

Why not stream it on Netflix? Because I don't have Netflix streaming service, only DVDs. I have DSL internet and streaming doesn't always work well with it as it's not super fast.

Yeah. Made my eyes pop out when I saw how expensive it was. I mean why. Cant they just make a cheap replica?
The producers are really hoping the queen endorses it so I guess they're going all out.
Jaysus, how much money does netflix have?

Yeah it's one of the few obvious conspiracies. So many people doubt the official line on this one.
It was in the news a couple of years ago, during the trial of SAS sniper Dan Nightingale and Soldier N, that soldier N had bragged to his ex wife of speaking with the SAS men who had been on the hit. The parents of Soldier Ns wife reported it to the Police and it was investigated. Soldier N told his wife that he asked the men how they could do that to Diana, the response "orders".
The poor driver Henri Paul has been branded an alcoholic, despite lots of evidence to the contrary. His friends left a wreath on his grave saying something like, "we know it's a lie".
The biggest red herring came from Dianas mouth, "I think my husband is going to have me killed in an accident", doesn't get any more damning than that.
Then there are the bizarre goings on after the crash, the long time for the ambulance to go to the Hospital, the embalming of Diana very quickly after.
Most likely a Co operation between French/British security services, SAS hit team on high powered bikes, they chase the car getting it up to speed, get ahead of it, shine the bright light on the Drivers eyes, witnesses report an extraordinary bright flash, possibly the famous white fiat driver bumps the Mercedes on purpose and it ends up crashing. Quite possible the car was tampered with, no seatbelts on the back. Brakes greased maybe, maybe under remote control to speed it up and turn into the pillar. Mercedes were not allowed to inspect the car.
Of course there were no cameras working to confirm any of that, how convenient.
What do I know though, I'm just a conspiracy nutcase.
