Can they do this?

Sometimes I see some cheesy movie in the vhs section I want to rent but my vcr is broken and I don't want to buy one because I love my dvd player, but the movie's not on dvd. Can Sony, or whoever you work for ;) do some kind of deal with independent film companies to put out their dvds for a small fee? That way Sony can make money and the small film companies can get their cheesy movies on dvd? Some off brand little heard of movies are kinda entertaining but they aren't on dvd.

It takes alot to get a major studio to release smaller indie films on DVD. Studios just aren't crazy about spending money encoding and packaging discs that a handful of people will see. The only thing that usually works is for a bunch of people to petition a studio to release a film...then it might happen...might.
