Not sure why i'm making a thread about this, i've been thinking about this all day and there could be some interesting stories. Today i bumped into one of my best friends aunts who i haven't seen in years and it reminded me of a very weird set of coincidences that happened in both of our families when we were around 12.

Within a few weeks of each other his aunt that i bumped into today and my aunt were both having a tough time (mines was going through a divorce and unemployment, can't remember what was happening with his) so they both temporarily moved in with their mothers until they were able to sort things out. His aunts mom was his gran, and my aunts mom is my grans sister. Now the coincidences. They are both the same age, childless (still for both), divorced (my aunt was going through one as i said his was already divorced) and work in the same field. Physically they were ridiculously similar, both had the same blonde hair: style and everything, both are fairly overweight woman: the same bodytype and are the same height. The only differences are there faces aren't exact or anything although they do look similar facially, and they don't have the same name. They did drive the exact same car though: a sky blue renault picasso.

Now their mothers. My grans sister was a year older than his gran, but they had the same name Marybeth: not a rare name but i don't think it's terribly common either, and they both had deceased husbands called Robert that went by Bob: Robert is one of the most common names there are but of all the Roberts i know in Glasgow i don't know any that go by Bob, it's usually Rab, Robbie, Rob, etc. Physically they were the exact same person, seriously. They had the same face, both were short woman who were the same height and they had the same hair, both in style and colour: hair that was pretty far into the greying process but still with enough colour that you could tell they had had red hair in their prime.

Both of our aunts stayed with their mothers for around a year until they got their lives under control, and they moved out on the same day, how i know this is my next ridiculous coincidence: they were next door neighbours. Yep, both of them stayed on the second floor in a close; their doors were 10 feet away facing each other. My friend was helping his aunt move out and coincidentally my aunt was filling up her moving truck when they went down to fill theirs, my aunt told me then he did. The funniest thing to me is that they weren't friends, that made zero sense to me. Not that they disliked each other, they were all friendly but just in a mundane neighbour way, they'd say hi or have a boring 2 minute chat about nothing. THE UNIVERSE WANTS YOU TO BE TOGETHER. That or me and my friend are brothers.

Anyway share your stories, hope this wasn't really boring.

When I lived in Manhattan, I lived at 239 East 58th Street, apartment 4G. When I moved to Connecticut I worked with a Polish woman who had also lived in Manhattan. When we talked more, I found out she moved into my old apartment after I left. Now that is a coincidence if I ever heard one.

I know some are not going to believe me, but it is true. I at least know it is.

After I graduated from high school, I bummed around for a summer before enlisting in the Navy just after Christmas. During that lazy, aimless summer respite, I often played basketball at a court on the grounds of the public school just down the street from where I lived. During our pickup games, I met the slightly older brother of a classmate of mine. I had never met the brother or even knew that he existed before then as I hadn’t been close with the classmate within our huge parochial grade and high school. On three different occasions thereafter, I ran into the brother at three very disparate locations in our very large city: Center City; on a bus in the Far Northeast; and another location not close to either while shopping. These fluke encounters were entirely coincidental as neither of us would have had any way of knowing where the other would be on those particular days. We both agreed the coincidences were weird. I never gave much thought to him afterwards.

Ten years later, I awoke in my apartment one morning and, for reasons I have no idea, I thought of him and the coincidental encounters all those years ago. I thought to myself: “I wonder whatever happened to him?” On the way to work, there was a youngish man standing on the side of the road holding a gas can, signifying he had run out of gas and would appreciate a lift to a gas station. As he looked harmless, I stopped and offered him a ride. When our eyes met, we both recognized the other: it was him! He obviously remembered our previous “relationship” and was obviously as astonished as myself.

Once again, I didn’t make this up!

I had the same experience, except it was a fellow who had lived in my apartment before me and we both still lived in the same city, So your experience was even more coincidental than mine! .

There's also something that my skeptical mind tells me is not a coincidence, coz how could it possibly be? It's a story that terrified me that my gf's mum told me and my gf confirmed her mum, great uncle and gran has been telling her for years. I've brought it up a few times here without actually telling the story:

My gfs mum was 16, this would have been the late 80s. She came home one night and didn't see her mum but that wasn't a problem or anything, she spent an hour or so listening to music and doing whatever before deciding to do her homework before she went to bed. Her and her mum lived alone in a two floor house: her dad sadly died when she was very young and she was an only child. Her mums room was right next to her moms on the right hand side once you leave her room. While doing her homework she heard her mum calling from down the stairs for her to come down, but once she stepped out in the hallway she heard a hushed-shouting voice coming from her moms room telling her to get in this room now, she froze saying that the voice in her mums room was persistent and yet that voice clearly came from down the stair and she could hear breathing coming from there, she said she doesn't know why but she knew she had to do something and she just felt her mums room was the right choice. And it was, it was her mum who was crying saying she didn't have a clue what that was, she said both of them sat up in her mums bed terrified, from time to time they'd hear noises from downstairs until the noises ceased for a long time. She said they considered going out the window since it wasn't a big drop and at worst it would cut their feet up a bit but they were completely paralyzed by fear so didn't want to leave the bed. Eventually when it got light outside her mum grabbed a bedside lamp as a weapon and they went down stairs gripping onto each other, they instantly went to the phone and phoned the police then they went to a neighbours house: they said the doors were locked and the windows were closed but it was possible someone could have closed the window after going through it. Once they got to a neighbours house they phoned my gfs grans brother, they told the police everything, they were helpful but there wasn't much they could do. Said great-uncle then moved in with them for the next 2 months until they thought everything was okay, nothing else happened, when my gfs mum was 18 she went of to Uni and two years later my gfs gran moved house.

My gfs mum thinks it was an intruder and my gfs gran thinks it was a ghost. I definitely agreed with my gfs mum, i'm a skeptic a-hole and i believe shared delusions are a thing but i didn't think it was in this case. I thought this did actually happen and that's why it terrified me so much, just the idea of it being a local stalker or something because whoever it was knew her name terrified me.

That's until i saw this about a week ago which is where the coincidence part is:

Okay! I know for a fact this story was being told before this video was made as when i showed it to my gf she was really pissed and in denial and she phoned all parties i said earlier confirmed it to her. It's pretty clear that she was being told this when she was pretty young. For the record i stumbled upon this video because i've been watching a bunch of creepy countdown videos on yt lately randomly, ask Miss Vicky i was talking to her about the Shane Dawson ones last week. There was a countdown of scary videos on yt that had that included and i was baffled when i saw it. It's not the exact same, but c'mon it's ridiculously similar. Well anyway, i think it's an old ghost story that her family has adopted as their own and i feel awful saying that coz i'm basically calling them liars and i'm spending tomorrow with them (meeting her gran for the first time) i've begged her not to bring it up haha, she has now moved towards the ghost side and believes it is some regular paranormal thing that happens which is where the short film got it from. I dunno, you decide haha.

The coincidence is me bumping into that story a few weeks after i heard it when i don't usually watch stuff like that, but then that's probably what inspired me to watch those videos. Well whatever i thought it was interesting anyway.

Lovely video.;)

In your secondhand account, you lost me with: ““she froze saying that the voice in her mums room was persistent and yet that voice clearly came from down the stair and she could hear breathing coming from there.” If the voice clearly came from downstairs, why was the presumably same voice coming from her “mums room”?

Whatever, but since you didn’t state otherwise, I presume nothing was stolen and there was no other actual sign of an intruder? If so, what possible motive could there have been for an intruder coming through a window?

Yeah, sorry i wrote that part completely wrong. She heard a voice coming from down the stairs and thought it was her mom, she thought nothing of it until she stepped out into the hall and heard a hushed-shouting voice coming from her mom's room which was to her right hand side when she stepped out the room, at that point she didn't hear a voice coming from down the stairs but she could hear breathing which was what made it clear that she hadn't imagine the voice coming from down the stairs: thus her freezing not knowing what to do because there was clearly two people in her house. Hope i explained that right.

They said they didn't know if anything was stolen which frustrated me before i knew about that video/former story, it's annoying to me because it keeps both the intruder and ghost possibilities open for them; that's what she said though. My thought was local stalker, rapist, i dunno. I mean i don't really believe this story anymore as i said but if i did and i believed it was an intruder i definitely wouldn't be thinking robbery was the motive because why would the person shout up the stairs? It creeped me out because said person apparently called her name and if this was true the intruder had knowledge of her which is spine-chilling. I suggested her great uncle playing a joke on them, but yeah he wasn't even staying in Glasgow haha.

When I was looking for my first apartment here in town with some friends of mine who were also planning to move here to go to University, we all had a good feeling about this basement apartment that we got an early showing of while it was still being renovated. We paid the deposit immediately because we knew we wouldn't find a better deal and were tired of dealing with landlords and trying to set up showings during our limited trip into town. On the drive back home, we discuss who was going to get which room, and I adamantly wanted this particular room by the stairs for no real reason.

When I tell my parents the address, they're immediately surprised and ask if we discussed which rooms we were taking. By some strange coincidence, my aunt, uncle, father, and a friend of theirs shared that same apartment, and the room I chose just so happened to be my dad's room.

That's because Canada is like one short street in Michigan.

Nah seriously, that's weird.

Not a coincidence really but as a very young kid: i mean 5-6 i had this awesome friend from England who didn't go to my school and one day he just disappeared, my parents told me he went back to England which was just a guess on their part because they had no clue. Then when i was 11; five or six years later i went to Orlando on holiday and he was in the seat in front of me on the return flight :D. He had went back to England, i only saw him once every week or two because he actually stayed a fair distance away from me for someone our age and i'd only see him in the park whenever his mom was able to take them there. The decision to leave happened over the course of a week or something and we didn't know where each other stayed or anything so there was no way for him to say goodbye.

That was awesome i thought.

The town I live in right now, I was born here... it's in England... but moved to a place called Woodlands when I was 6, in the Highlands of Scotland... then moved to Forres in Scotland when I was about 7...

... and moved back here to my hometown when I left school when I was 15.

While in Forres, I knew a guy called Sean. Sean was from my hometown as well lol! He moved to Forres when he was about 7.

1 year later, whilst working at that DVD/CD factory... there was a bloke hanging around at the side of the factory, looking for, well, looking for said factory... and he asked me if I knew where it was.
"You're standing next to it mate... hang on... Keith? It's me!"

It was my mate Keith from Forres.
We worked together for about 4 years... then, I started working at a new place... turns out Keith was flatmates with a co-worker of mine at the new job lolol!
Then, I was working at a pub for a while... 2 months later, Keith started working in the kitchen hehehe!

Shortly after that, another friend of mine from Forrres, Matty (I've posted a pic of me and him in the personal pics thread). Matty moved to this town as well. He never knew I was here.
So that's 3 people from Forres, who ended up, or started out, in my own hometown.

Then, a year ago... I found a mutual friend of mine on Facebook... Marie. I knew her whilst in Forres as well.
She now also lives here in my hometown.

I bumped into Sean a few months back too when I was up the town centre. Turns out he's back in the area.

The distance between here and Forres?
550 miles.

Madness how so many people go from place to place... and those places are all the same.

I got another couple...

My Mum's parents' names were Gertrude and William.

My Dad's parents'... were Gertrude and William.

:D
No we're not inbred. Just a coincidence.

And...
My Dad, his Brother Alan, and his Brother Edward... all have Daughters born on 26th Feb... obviously this means my Mum is the Mother of my Dad's Daughter... and Mum's birthday is... 26th Feb lol!
Get this though... my Brothers Jeff, Jason and Greg... all have kids born on 30th January... and My eldest Daughter, and 2 of my Nephews, were all born on 31st March.

Something odd in our family, some odd freak of fate... we all have the same Birthdays.

haha. Those are nuts.

Another one that isn't actually a coincidence, more of a weird story, probably should have just called the thread that so not to restrict it.

It's actually not mine it's my friends but i'm part of it. When my friend was young his older brother had a close friend we'll call him Daniel Brown, he was 5 years older than my friend and was really close to the family, was over all the time, stayed over often, etc. Anyway he knew him well, when my friend was around 10 Daniel Brown moved quite far away and would never come around anymore. Around 5 years later i was with my friend in M and D's (an amusement park here) and this guy walked over to him and said "hi mate, how you been? Hows your brother, not seen you in years", my friend looked confused and said "sorry, do i know you?" and the guy said it's me Daniel Brown, at that point my friend got weird and just kind of rushed the conversation to an end. While we were walking away he told me that person is not Daniel Brown, i thought he was joking or mistaken because he hadn't seen him in years but he was adamant. When he got home he told his brother who then called Daniel Brown and sure enough he didn't know what the hell he was talking about, he thought they were pulling a prank on him.

Daniel Brown has since came back into his brothers life, i've met him more than once and yeah it's definitely not that guy who came up to him. My friends always thought it was a relative or friend of Daniels who was pulling a prank and i think it most likely was but my friend has never figured out who it was despite being close to Daniel and his family.

It's a really odd one for me as i was there, there was nothing sinister about this person. We were both 15 and this guy was alone so we weren't in danger and it's not as if he was trying to get us to go with him or anything, i just don't get what happened at all haha.

So I've been watching the season 1 Blu-ray set of Supergirl over the past week and... Harrison Ford and Working Girl were talked about a few times by Calista Flockhart's character during the season 1 finale. You may know Calista Flockhart is married to Harrison Ford. You may also know that the aforementioned Working Girl consistently cracks my top five list. Funny coincidence or what?

Spooky - I was just about to start a Weird Coincidences thread myself

You're not going to believe me, but me too. I had even used the search function to see if one existed. :D

I don't have a common name at all. I'm the only with with mine in Sweden. So a few years ago I get a phone call from a woman, asking me if I was so and so...yes...and then she asked me if I was to (my father's name). So I answer that yes, he is my father. She then asks me to please call him and tell him to move his car from her driveway. My father lives on the other side of the planet, so of course, I call him, wondering if he's decided to surprise me or something. But no, there he was, still on the other side of the planet. Turns out an Italian actor with the same name as my father was living in Stockholm. It's not a common name.

Don't want to post his name but my friends brother has the same name as an editor or something can't remember what it is, on a very popular film. Not the weirdest but while my friends brothers first and second names aren't that out there they are an extremely uncommon spelling of both and this dude has the same spellings.

Always found it hilarious when it came up as i watched this film alot when i was younger.

I had a weird moment involving Stellan Skarsgård.

He's somewhat of a regular customer in a shop I used to work at, and every time he would come in looking for cream of tartar, we'd be out. And for a while, we couldn't get hold of any, so when we eventually got a large shipment of it, I squirrelled 2 packs away for him in case we sold out before he could get some.

I had JUST thought about that, put it aside, and proceeded to open the shop, when I my first customer coming up the escalator. Yup. Stellan Skarsgård.

So of course, thinking OMG WE HAVE A PSYCHIC CONNECTION, I excitedly inform him we have cream of tartar. He smiled at me and said that's great, but that he's here for orange blossom extract. Which I resignedly told him we were out of stock of. I then added that he had never disappointed me in film but I'm constantly disappointing him with his baking needs, and then he touched me shoulder and told me that it's ok, he knows it's not my fault.

I walked surprisingly well, considering my ovaries exploded.

This one's kind of stupid, but one time after work in the restaurant I went partying at the Melody night club in New Brunswick with a co-worker. So as not to drive home, I stayed over at the guy's apartment nearby, where he lived with his girlfriend. This wasn't a generic apartment inside an apartment building, but a single dwelling overtop a business. A bizarre aspect was the only bathroom in their apartment was inside their bedroom - so when I had to go, I had to walk through their bedroom (and after a night of drinking I had to go!) I'm just glad I wasn't sick that night!

The coincidence happened several years later - I went with my roommate at the time to visit a couple we knew for dinner. (The guy in this couple had been a former roommate of my roommate.) I didn't know where they lived, only that it was in New Brunswick. Turns out, they were in the exact same apartment I'd stayed in years earlier!

And then, a couple years later, this couple ended up moving into the house I was living in - in the apartment over mine.

And then, when they moved out a few years later, I got their apartment!

As a child i fell off a wall, i split my head open so was quite bloody, a guy passing picked me off the floor and took me home. My parents were grateful and thanked him. Few years later my cousin started dating a guy she met at work, turned out that the guy who picked me up was the brother of cousins new boyfriend.

18 or so years ago I applied for a job at Continental Airlines (graphics/cad). I phone interviewed twice with a guy who didn't hire me. In April of this year I was looking to hire for my team and called in an applicant for a face to face. Through our discussion we realized that this applicant was the one who didn't hire me at Co-Air. He was very apologetic but I thought it was hilarious how the tables had turned. Of course I hired him because it'd be weird not to and he was the most qualified. I bust on him about it fairly regularly though :)

He was very apologetic but I thought it was hilarious how the tables had turned. Of course I hired him because it'd be weird not to and he was the most qualified. I bust on him about it fairly regularly though :)

great story. be kind to everyone, as you always meet twice in life
