Wow, I found a new TV show Gideon hadn't created a thread for!
Really enjoying this. I didn't think anything of it when I saw the promos, until I saw that Tina Fey and Robert Carlock were producers. I worried this might not mean much, but figured it was worth a shot in case it did...and it does. It feels like a spiritual successor to 30 Rock pretty much right away, in ways both superficial and subtle: big cast of characters, set at a TV show, female lead who gets a lot of mileage out of being, as Jack Donaghy once put it, "comically undignified." And, perhaps most importantly, it takes place in a heightened reality where absurd or impossible things can happen in service of a joke (but not so often that it overwhelms the underlying stories).
Just ten episodes in the first season, and only 13 next year (it's already been renewed). But given how much I loved 30 Rock and how desperate my wife and I are for great comedies in that vein, that's still...well, you know.
