Several polls have the Dems' candidate for the special congressional election in Georgia (to replace Price) up by twenty percentage points or more. Wow! The loss of one seat for the Republicans (even if it is Gingrich’s old seat) is of small moment of and in itself. However, it might be ominous for the party’s chances to hold the House in 2018. (Because the Senatorial map is so favorable for the GOP in 2018 with their only having to defend one seat in a state taken by Clinton (Nevada), while the Dems have to defend several seats in states taken by Trump, the party will probably hold the Senate and might even pick up a seat or two.) Trump’s numbers have been tanking recently even further than usual. I blame Trump being so inarticulate and seemingly even incoherent at times for this, not his policies. He is no Ronald Reagan, the former actor and "great communicator." Trump and the GOP are simply not articulating well.

For those too young here to recall, up until Reagan the three major free access networks would give the president (of either party) simultaneous airtime, usually a half an hour, in prime time to address the nation. They did so fairly often. That ended with Pesident Bush the Elder. Now, they will only do so (aside from the annual State of the Union Address) in important situations, like after 9/11. Trump does okay (not great, but okay) reading from a teleprompter. He should make such speeches to be recorded for online presentation on a Trump site. Twitter simply isn't going to do it for him. That’s my advice for what it's worth.
