OK, you have 16 tracks, what's on your cd?
Try and make it flow, give it a theme. If it's a e.g Rock/Dance CD say so. This is a good idea to get tracks into your own lists by comparing with other similar lists.
Minions Ambient 'Float Down A River With Sun In Eyes' Mix
01 - Spiritualized - Ladies and Gentlemen we are floating in space
02 - Interpol - Untitled
03 - Freur - Doot Doot
04 - Sigur Ros - The Nothing Song (Njosnavelin)
05 - Jeff Buckley - Lover, You Should Have Come Over
06 - Paul Simon - Me And Julio Down By The Schoolyard
07 - Bob Dylan - Lay Lady Lay
08 - Beck - It's All In Your Mind
09 - Cat Power - Names

12 - Joy Division - Decades
13 - Depeche Mode - It's No Good
14 - Kate Bush - Running Up That Hill
15 - Beach Boys - Good Vibrations
16 - Massive Attack - Inertia Creeps
Check out those tracks if you haven't already, especially the Sigur Ros track it's amazing.
My theme be "Scatty treats" (for those times when your heart needs an extra jump. Make your blood move with a groove as much as moving your rump - or make you laugh with glee at the silliness they help you see. So the only consistancy is inconsistancy. Damn i need to get some chillout music ;))
01 - Raspigaous - Mois d'aout
02 - Stevie Wonder - Sir Duke
03 - The Seatbelts - Tank
04 - Wagner Pau (sp?) - Hablando Alto
05 - The Meters - Cissy Strut
06 - Dr John - Mama Roux
07 - The Daktaris - Eltsuhg Ibal Lasiti

10 - Raspigaous - Skatapuce
11 - Duke Ellington - Cotton House Stomp
12 - Dr John - sh*thouse blues (live)
13 - Geoff Muldaur - Brazil (film version)
14 - The Seatbelts - Black Coffee
15 - Dizzy Gillespie - St Thomas (live 14 minute-er)
16 - Bill Bailey - Dr Who Theme Tune (Belgian Jazz version ;))
There is no real "title" to mine. It just , like Golgot, is scatty. I guess unless someone can give mine a title. :p

Jrs, Do you mean West End Girls by the Pet Shop Boys ?
I could think of a few titles for your mix but they may offend you ;)
Golgot! Bill Baily! He's hilarious!
yeah...excuse me....confused w/something something else.
Hey, we are all family here. Just give me a title you think best fits it. ;D

Jrs, hmm, a title....
thoughts on your mix
Well I can get past you having that Evanescence track and even the TWO eminem tracks BUT, OH DEAR GOD-
"Just the Two of us - Will Smith"
What kind of sicko are you ;)
oh well it binds to taste (come back when you get some ;) )
nah, you wouldn't like my tracks either, probably.
Anyway.......... a title.
Jrs Tracks for the bleeding heart trapped in solitude by his inner turmoil

Back when I was in college, I created what I still consider the best Mix tape I've ever made. I'll try to reproduce it's track list here:
Monkeypunch's "Oh my god, my head's gona explode" mix:
Misirlou - Dick Dale
Loser - Beck
Kozmic Blues- Janis Joplin (Anyone who knows me will tell you that this is on EVERY mix tape I've ever made. It's my favorite song.)
Zombie - The Cranberries
Dead Souls- Nine Inch Nails
Lake of Fire- The Meat Puppets
Where Did you Sleep Last Night - Nirvana
Jesus wants me for a sunbeam - The Vaselines
My Generation - Green Day
Mr. Wrong - Cracker
Pale Blue Eyes - Hole
Ring of Fire- Johnny Cash
Stuck in the Middle with You - Stealer's Wheel
Son of a Preacher Man - Dusty Springfield
Feel Like I'm Fixin to Die - Country Joe McDonald
Hey Jealousy - Gin Blossoms
House of Fun - Madness
What happened to You? - The Offspring
The Lumberjack Song - Monty Python
That's all I can remember. I lost the tape years ago. Very Sad. I even made a cover for it which had a picture of Bela Lugosi saying "Bite Me" on it. I was pretty weird in college.

Like you said it binds to taste. As the saying goes "to each his own".
You don't like what's on my CD and I deal with it.
As for taste... it depends on what type of it one may have.
Golgot! Bill Baily! He's hilarious!
A spectrum of priceless observational comedy: the two bills: Bill Hicks -to- Bill Bailey. They could both play the guitar a bit, but one was cutting and tutting, where the other is supremely surreal. But only BB's piano can play what a french-ambulance-siren would like to say ;)
"Nostalgia...how long's that been around? ....... It was hard back then. You had to be tough to make it as an age. Oh yeah, you had the stone age, iron, bronze. Some of the softer, more femine, ages didn't really make it. You know, the moss age, bark age, didn't really make it. The sponge age. That only lasted a couple of months. They acheived some quite nice effects in their cave painting, but that was about it. They all died out, they couldn't kill anything. An early bit of sponge-age art depicts a bloke trying to beat a rabbit to death with a louffer (sp??). And the rabbit's looking up at him going "what're you doin?"............i actually think a lot of medival castles were overthrown coz of a basic design flaw. And that was, that the enemies used to get in through the gift shops....."
I could go on and on....
Ahhhh. The man is so damn funny. Did you like Black Books? I thought that was some of the best british comedy in ages.

I think this thread may have been inspired by my post in the "MinionTV Chat" (http://www.movieforums.com/community/showthread.php?p=101381#post101381) . Yes?

Wow that was almost a year old.
Anyway, that song is originally by a folk artist prominent mostly in the late 50s-early 60s by the name of Jimmie Driftwood. It's been covered by several other artists, including Johnny Cash and Doc Watson. The version I was talking about was the Johnny Cash version, and if I remember correctly it was on the Jackie Brown soundtrack.

Bob Schneider does sort of bluesey, laid back tunes with some catchy lyrics. He's downloadable for a taste.
I want to know what you think of Rufus' daddy. I just learned last weekend that he was the guitar player who occasionally turned up in episodes of M*A*S*H*. How cool is that?!

My CD would have to have on it or represent:
-- ELO, either "Sweet Talkin' Woman" or just about anything off the Out of the Blue album
-- 16 Horsepower, "Black Soul Choir" (LOVE this song and everything they do)
-- Violent Femmes from mid-1990s
-- Barlow Girls, "Alone" (I can't even listen to this song without crying, which means I can no longer play it while I'm driving!)
-- "That Thing You Do" (yeah, yeah, I know, so sue me)
-- Misc. from The Clash, The Cure, The Shins, The Darkness, The Beatles, The Cars (apparently I like groups that start with "The")
-- NIN, "Head Like A Hole," "Sanctification," "Sin"
-- Live, "I Alone"
-- Collective Soul, "December" and others off that album
-- Filter, "Nice Shot"
-- Faith No More, "Epic"

I'm currently working on a mix tape for a friend of mine. Sounds easy enough, except 1) she works at a record stroe and 2) I'm a perfectionist. Suffice to say, I started the thing 6 months ago, forget about it now and then, tweak it a little every few weeks, and it's changed dramatically since I started.
I'm close, though. I can feel it.

Difficult to find what you think is the perfect composition of songs or difficult to find music you think she hasn't heard?
My main criteria when making mixes for other people, is it has to be songs/bands the other persong probably hasn't heard/probably won't hear on tv or the radio.
Difficult to find what you think is the perfect composition of songs or difficult to find music you think she hasn't heard?
Both, though mostly because I know it'll be tough to find things that are both good, and new to her. I think I've found enough, however, to compliment things she's heard but would like on there anyway. I'm probably a couple songs away, assuming I throw about 10 on each side.
I'll post the track list when I'm done, if anyone's interested. It'll be a primer of sorts in catchy, (mostly) low-fi, slightly indie-ish rock.
