-
People who want to participate in this thread are encouraged to post at least once every day - just like a diary.
The aim of this thread is to get members recognising and sharing something positive that happened to them that day. You may post multiple positives if you wish.
I got this idea after being asked to write a positivity diary as part of their university project.
:)
Up before dawn. Best time of the day every day, having my quiet time in the drk. And it's still raining. Bliss. And 1 day closer to Better Call Saul.
Good idea, rhys.

I started my spring yard work today. Not much, just cutting down a little thorn brush. It felt good to be outside.
Openig day of baseball season and my Yankees were on the tube.
Nice lunch at Cracker Barrel with my mom and dad after church. Followed by an afternoon snooze.
Sitting here trying to decide what movie to watch and the possibilities are endless.
Sundays don't get much better. I had to hug my boys goodbye this morning for a few days but their mom is taking them to Gatlinburg for spring break and they were pumped.
I'm a blessed man.

Today I have made quite a big decision. I have decided that I want to partake in a Masters degree in filmmaking after I graduate. I feel that this could be a beneficial path for me.

Had a lot of fun with friends today, watching the Tour of Flanders (which is pretty much as important to my country as the Superbowl is to the USA). We watched the cyclists pass around noon and watched the ending at a nearby bar. None of my favorites won because of bad luck, but I'm already over it. It's only sports after all.
Decided to relax another day tomorrow and watch some films before doing some extensive writing during the next few weeks for my master thesis. It's almost over!

I also watched The Tour of Flanders, what a performance by Gilbert, one of the best cycling effort I've ever seen. I don't know if he would have won if Sagan didn't fall, but still props to him.
Wrestlemania tonight my friends are coming at my house and we'll have a good time :D
Great idea for a thread.
Today, I went to Best Buy with my dad as we had an open house going on at our place. Great chance to talk to him about movies and stuff, feel like we haven't done that in a while. I ended up getting Jackie finally, and he got The Great Escape, Road House, and The Shawshank Redemption.
Today I chilled with friends, restocked on my food (something I have been meaning to do this for a while) and now I am at the library with another friend for an all-night session on my dissertation. These late nights in the library with friends are some of the most memorable, and even most enjoyable times of university.

Got all the food shopping done this morning, then took the dogs to the groomers for the works. Took a nap and went to the dentist for my 6 month cleaning and X-rays-no cavities so I'm pretty happy about that. My wife made me tacos for dinner and now I'm having a mocha iced coffee. I'll get a movie in and then in bed by around 10:00. Not a bad day. Oh, and I got the slow leak in my tire fixed.
Had a truly awful weekend with very depressing thoughts and super low energy. Felt extremely needy for some reason and then today was just a real bummer...but I made it. Now I am home and listening to highly polished sci fi rock from the old Hollywood Records label and doing my exercises..I'm on a break, need to get thoughts out somewhere besides FB where all my aunts and uncles and old HS chums can judge me winding up. Positive note, the fight isn't over. If there are aliens and they want to run down the human soul because they cannot have it for themselves, they must know that I have chemical imbalances and it wasn't their hand they dealt me. My depression is a result of my own choices and laziness. My soul is still put together. Just kidding. I'm just talking trash.

Just now - I found this thread and thought, "I need a thread like this!"
Best Monday at work in a while. This thread comes at a good time for me. Work has been a drag for me lately and it is mostly my fault. I need to be much more positive in my work life.
Caught Ghost In A Shell with a buddy after work. Not a good movie but a bad night at the movies trumps almost everything.
NCAA finals tonight, I will be trying to stay awake for that.
All good things.

When bringing in the mail today there was the usual junk and bills.
I remembered the thought "expect a check." And I found one envelope that contained a dividend from PSE&G (this was a stock that my grandfather - who died in 1967 when I was three - left to all his grandchildren, so it was split up among all my cousins).
The check was for $6.00! :)
Had an odd day because I slept for a lot of it, but I did go downtown and bought some movies. Found some good stuff too. Haven't done that in a while.
I replied this thread.
Stopped on the way home to buy kebabs for our brunch. Said thank you in Turkish to the owner and he gave me a dozen baklava gratis and with a huge smile. Such a win win feel in the current climate of fear. Lovely man

Just discovered a new favorite film and it's from a director I hadn't seen anything from so far!
Life is good.
I am still in the library and very tired, but I am about to leave. I managed to increase my dissertation wordcount by about 800 words which I am very happy with. :)
I slept for a great deal of today but I went to university, had my dissertation tutorial (which went quite well) and I am going to eat and get ready for the library again now for another of my long sessions with my friend. :)
I still have half of my halal wrap left from yesterday. Joy. Taking a photo and sending it to the wannabee Trump clone politician in my country.

I went to the bank (deposited my check from yesterday for $6.02!), got my oil changed, got gas and picked up my suit from the cleaners for my niece's wedding this weekend - paid a grand total of $61.95 and did it all in under an hour!
A reminder about kindness: Practicing kindness has been shown to release serotonin (a neurotransmitter that contributes to feelings of well-being & happiness) in the brain of the person acting kindly. But this natural chemical is also released in the brain of the recipient of the kindness when they realize kindness has been shown to them and in the brains of anyone witnessing acts of kindness. Thus, kindness can be reciprocal and contagious!
It is definitely contagious.
LOL at your $6 cheque.
A solid day at work. Looks like I finally filled a position I have been trying to for a couple months. Got to talk to my boys thus afternoon and they are having a great spring break. Probably going to check out Paterson tonight which I have been looking forward to for a long time.

I went to a surprise birthday party of a friend of mine today. I couldn't drink too much, because I was driving, so I had some good and funny conversations without overdoing it. A very relaxed evening.

Forgot to post here yesterday. Had a good day walking with my buddy. We decided his family needed a blu-ray player for his upstairs TV, and I realized I had both a blu-ray player and a PS3 and didn't need both, so I gave them the blu-ray player. I also gave money to a couple people on the streets who needed it. I like doing stuff like that, so it made for a good day in my book.
That's awesome, swany. Win win.

Forgot this yesterday. Been a fairly uneventful two days of the work week. Yesterday I found a nice big concrete birdbath on Craigslist for $40. That'll go on the stump where I took a tree down last year. The Bruins clinched their first playoff birth in 3 years, and there's a good NBA game to watch tonight when the hometown Celtics take on Cleveland.
I hd garlic spaghetti for breakfast, now I can breathe all over my dentist this morning ehehehe

Been a really stress free week, which is exactly the way I like it. My kids came back a day early so getting to spend the evening with them. Life is good.
I am now back in the library to continue working on my dissertation. I have a group of friends who are out clubbing tonight, but I managed to resist the urge of going out to progress my university work. It is a shame I am not out, but at least I am not spending nearly as much money, and I will have furthered my assignment and been productive. In addition to this, it is always nice to spend these late nights with my friend because we did the same thing around this time last year. It is an experience that is very much related to my university lifestyle, whereas clubbing is something that I plan to continue doing even after university.

I got a big bag of twizzlers today, which I probably shouldn't have but made me happy anyway. :D
An old lady stared me down while her dog pinched one off at the local oval. Even her dog gave me side eye. I restrained my usual self from yelling PICK UP AFTER YOUR DOG, OLD GIRL. I'm quite proud of that. She was probably deaf anyway.

You can pick up something that's fairly similar to what I brewed in some stores. Abita's Purple Haze, is brewed with raspberries and is good. I just had some a week ago.
I've been brewing beer, for years. I've made all sorts of types, IPAs, Pale Ales, spiced beers. The last one I made was a Russian Imperial Stout that's a clone of Old Rasputin. It's a winter beer for sure as it's thick, rich, high alcohol content (about 10%) and brewed with toasted barley which makes it taste like it has espresso in it. I usually only drink about 6 ounces of it at one time. If I drank the entire pint, I'd be quite dizzy:eek:
Oh, I've made Spruce ale, which uses new tips of spruce trees. It taste kind of funky, like pitch!

our lady was at the corner today wrapped in a blanket trying to stay warm so we got her a big hot chocolate, a sandwich and container of fruit and only had a few bucks to toss in as well.
Bittersweet to see her light up when she saw what we brought.
Room mate remarked on how she wished there was more and I remarked that we both know that sometimes, in hard times, a sandwich and a hot beverage can get you through and even one dollar, when you have none, makes all the difference in the world, some times. Don't solve anything, but helps to keep ya going. And THAT is something we all need now and again. A little kindness to rekindle the strength and the will to go on when there seems to be little reason to.
Take care, all
oh, and on a very positive note, we have seen others bringing her food, cash and support. Even saw a couple of teen age guys once, with a styro foam container with a meal and talking with her. Wonderful sight, that.
I had a great time with my friends throughout of yesterday. We had a free BBQ at our student accommodation, and the weather was beautiful. During the night we went to my favourite club in Sheffield to celebrate the birthday of one of my closest friends. It ended up being a very enjoyable night!
I woke up late today because I did not sleep until around 10-11am. However, I woke up feeling fine and refreshed despite last night being relatively heavy. I went to McDonald's with my friend (I won a free Cheeseburger aha!), and now I am in the library to make some progress with my dissertation.
Also, I got my mark back for one of my previous assignments and I was delighted with the mark given to me.

A pretty uneventful last 3 days, but no negatives so that's a positive. I did about 6 hours of yard work today. That's only a small drop in the bucket for what I have to do each spring, but it's a start. I took the pups on the deck about 2 hours ago. It was still daylight and there was a coyote in my woods. I threw some ice cubes at him and scared him away. I don't want him around with little dogs.

Eating out, for me, always seemed to be about filling your stomach while home cookin seemed to nourish the soul, as it were.
We need to do some yard work but with the cold rainy days we've had, we're gonna blow off tomorrow and hit one of our parks and lay out or wander about the woods before heading over to my mom's for Sunday dinner.

Yeah dude I freaking love this thread, honestly just in concept it's one of the best threads I've ever seen on the forum.
I am glad people are enjoying the thread. When I was asked to do this as part of an assignment for a friend of mine, I found pointing out both the larger and small positives of my day to be uplifting. It helped me to focus on the positive things happening in my day-to-day life, so I thought it would be beneficial to share the idea with others and also continue doing it myself. I believe that it would be nice to look back on my old posts on this thread over time too.

me included, though nothing fancy, just one of those 5$ Hot & Ready Pizzas on the way home from work last night. Usually go with a Liquor Store that makes some really amazing pizza with HUMONGOUS sized toppings. I hand make from scratch my own pizza, every Friday night. I've done that for over 20 years.
This weekend I had a fresh basil & tomato sauce on a super thick crust with 3 blend of cheeses, mozzarella, jack, cheddar...with more fresh chopped basil mixed into the cheese...for toppings I had sliced red bell pepper.
Monday morning musings.

Just discovered a new favorite film and it's from a director I hadn't seen anything from so far!
Life is good.
What is this movie and director?

The movie was Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid, directed by Sam Peckinpah.
Since that post I've already seen Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia and The Wild Bunch, which I both loved as well.

Well said 😊 I'm here (MoFo) only few days and this is so much different from my most popular nativ filmforum. On Polish webside people argue, row... Here discuss, speaking and respect each other opinion. I like to be here :D

Perfect autumn, MM. We had a gorgeous day yesterday - bright blue skies, slightly warm with a nice breeze, then huge thunderstorm yesterday evening which took out a lot of electricity, but we enjoyed the light show.

Another 8 hours of yard work for me today. I hurt everywhere but I got a lot done. Finished cutting back all the brush, got rid of all the thorn bushes, pulled all the poison ivy out of the trees, and got all the debris off the lawn and out of the mulch beds. I still have about 5 days of spring starter yard work left, but it's more enjoyable things like mulching, fertilizing, washing the deck, planting shrubs, decorating, etc. Then wifey made me a nice dinner with salmon, baked potato, and spinach with butter and garlic. Then I went to the discount store and got about 15 bags of healthy dog treats for $2.99 each. At the pet store they're more like $8.99. Also got myself a new Scott's seed spreader, plant food, lawn lime, weed killer, and some cleaning products. I almost ***** myself in line but I raced home and made it to the toilet. The Red Sox won and I have pistachio pudding for desert, meow!
I somehow slept for 15 hours, but my sleeping pattern is back on track again - this probably will not last long though. :rotfl:
I am in the library now and plan to stay here for a while to make some good progress on my dissertation. I am on nearly 6000 words now and my max work count can be 11000 - which is what I am aiming for.

Gorgeous sunny weekend in the UK. Replaced a broken trellis and decided to chop down all the jasmine. Had to be done, sad tho. I'e only got a teeny garden and a little bit of decking and the jasmine had made it's way over half the decking. My garden looks massive now! The we went and helped the eldest son put up his new shed.
Nce Saturday evening at the Community Centre. Motown music night and sausage and chips with pickled eggs, although I still refuse to even contemplate eating one of them.
Housework on Sunday then watching Everton beat Leicester 4-2 sweetly ended my weekend :D

Sunday is my only day off and we bounced to a couple of parks trying to find one to play basketball (Around The World specifically) and it turned into a long sunday drive in more rural areas. Found one on the other side of town by my mom's, stopped for sunday dinner and went home, napped, got up and watched some movies. Very content.

Another good Monday at work. This positivity stuff is making my work life much less stressful. Ran for the first time in about three weeks. Only a mile and a half but I will take it. Baseball tonight with my 8 year old. We lost but that is the first of the season. Good little team.

Amazing what a thread like this can do. Makes me think of even little things to be grateful for.
I'm back in the library dudes - and I am pretty hyper from all this caffeine. I plan to stay here late and get a lot of this work done!
My friend was not supposed to be working with me in the library for another two weeks, but she came back to Sheffield today to do some work, and she will be in the library with me for the next two nights too! It's always nice to have her company. :)
I'm once again back in the library. I had a meeting with my dissertation tutor early this afternoon, and he told me that everything is going well. I am well on track to finishing this now, and I am thoroughly enjoying my research. :)
I also think I know which director I am choosing for my documentary assignment after my dissertation (Werner Herzog).
Went to hospital again today for another routine scan which is not covered by my government or private health funds however every day this week the boom gate has been broken so free parking. Bonus.
After someone spilling something into my amplifier, I have managed to clean it up, and they seem good. :)
Waking up to the gentle pitter patter of rain drops on leaves. Very comforting.
I am once again back in the library but my work is coming on very nicely now. I swear that I am becoming nocturnal though. :rotfl:
Had a 1 of 5 appointment with q periodontist this morning. The only worse thing than a needle for a needlephobe is a needle in the mouth. Got to the local Shopping Centre to stock up for holiday festivities and immediately started throwing up. Where is the silver lining you ask. Stress instantly gone. Boom.

I found this during my research on the anti-drugs material released around the hippie-era. I thought this was fascinating and I managed to provide an interesting additional point in my dissertation. Win-win!
They showed this in American schools during the 1970s to dissuade children from taking drugs.

I think I am going to take a break from the library tonight and go out with friends to a launch party for a new night at my favourite club in Sheffield. Should be fun to get out after all these sleepless nights in the library. I also saw a family friend today for lunch which was nice. I am just waiting for my friend to arrive at my flat now so that we can chill. :)
I had an enjoyable time these past two nights, and I should be chilling with friends again tonight. Now to the get food and then go to the library to get some more work done! :)
I had such a great sleep last night. I feel fresh and ready for my dissertation research! :)
Haven't posted in a couple days but I had a very nice Easter weekend. Hung with my boys, checked out a couple flicks, and ate lots of good food. Sitting here trying not to dread Monday. Stay positive Sean!

I have had a really nice day today chilling with friends and I did the same last night. Back in the library now with good company. :)
I forgot to take the wheely bin out last night as I usually do on a public holiday weekend and taking it out earlier the garbage man went screaming past just as I got out the front. He reversed laughing and said 'Only kidding. I had too much chocolate for breakfast' LOL!!!
My bro bushwalking yesterday with his lady while taking a break from his current shoot, just to show you 1. how beautiful the autumn weather has been this holiday weekend and 2. the national park that surrounds my burb right smack bang in the city. Another day in paradise, s the locals say.

With the way things have been going, haven't been feeling too positive lately... but I keep remembering this one line from Apollo 13 (one of my favorite movies) uttered by Ed Harris's character Gene Kranz when he overhears all the many things that can possibly go wrong...

A sudden cold snap hs hit. Thank you Antarctica.
I handed my dissertation in yesterday! :)
Good times.
Started an internship at a foreign language high school (English if you're wondering) a few weeks ago. It's been great so far, and I can confidently say that it is better being stuck in college. :D
Cold enough to wear boots for the first time this year. Blessed days.
Cold enough now for fluffy socks and hat, boots, 2 long sleeved t shirts, a pashmina, and a polartec vest, and heated car seat. Next - gloves. I'm happy.
Yesterday was fun because our course had a gathering in celebration in finishing our main projects. I still have two assignments to complete through May, but it was nice to get together before finishing up for good.
Today, I took part in a colour run with friends which proved to be an excellent start of the day despite having to nurse a hangover. Now I am back in the library and continuing my research on Werner Herzog.
:)
I think it's utterly absurd that I wake up at stupid o'clock on a monday and do a lil happy dance because it's Better Call Saul day. I love being this hooked on a show or movie. Life s'all good, man.

This is really interesting - medical science has found that chronic complaining actually shrinks the part of your brain critical to problem solving!
"And here’s the kicker: complaining damages other areas of your brain as well. Research from Stanford University has shown that complaining shrinks the hippocampus -- an area of the brain that’s critical to problem solving and intelligent thought. Damage to the hippocampus is scary, especially when you consider that it’s one of the primary brain areas destroyed by Alzheimer’s."
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/report-on-business/small-business/sb-growth/how-complaining-rewires-your-brain-for-negativity/article31893948/
So wow! We've always known that continual negative thinking is bad for you, mentally, emotionally and physically, but we didn't know how bad or how directly destructive it is!
Captain Steel
05-02-17, 03:53 PM
To follow up - if negativity such as chronic complaining physically damages our brain, then it's logical to assume that positivity must enhance it...
Or, if not, that positivity must at least protect our brains from the destructive effects of negativity because you can't be positive and negative at the same time. So whenever you are being positive, you are halting or preventing the destructive effects of negativity, and as the article points out, each attitude can become habit through practice.
I do believe there's room for pragmatism, but pragmatism is not negativity - it doesn't just focus on problems. It focuses on both problems and potential solutions (along with coping mechanisms, being prepared, and preventing problems before they occur).
Interesting article. Maybe this is what Rhys was getting at starting this thread
One is to cultivate an attitude of gratitude.
I dont feel good about myself when I whine, even if it's just to whine about a movie or tv show. I feel the need to atleast try to finish on a positive, and I dont hang about with incessant whiners eg. when I lived in another country expats would congregate and whine about the negatives. It feeds on itself and everyone would join in. I don't mean just someone going through a hard time and needing to blow off steam but the perpetual wet blankets. It actually makes me feel physically unwell. And I love the comment about pity parties. I can't stand the types who want to pull out the 'Oh poor you' rather than give some positive feedback. My inlaws did that when I had cancer and I had to block them out because they were bursting my positivity bubble.
I think this is why this thread is so great so you can focus on even small things to be grateful for, no matter how trivial they might seem. My coffee machine isn't working this morning. No biggy. I found an old moka pot and made one on the stove. Woooo.
OK here's an example of how I shift my thinking. I pinched a nerve in my back a few days ago. Rather than focus on that I checked my diary to see when my next physio appointment is. It's in an hour and a half. W00t. I'm on a program for something else and my therapist isn't supposed to treat something new on that program, but she's so sweet she'll have an oopsy moment and the laser will slip momentarily but long enough to give me some relief. That thought makes me laugh so automatic endorphin bonus. No one ever taught me this; it;s just something I do and have done for a long time so I dont get bogged down. I'm not even conscious of doing it but dwelled on the topic after reading your article. Glass full -v- glass empty approach. Or the pony under the xmas tree.
Twin boys went running downstairs on xmas morning. One started crying because he noticed pony poop on the presents. The other one started screaming WE GOT A PONY?????
Ofcourse when poop hits the fan, I will still offload. I dont think there's anything wrong with that unless it becomes a daily thing about every little thing in life.

Coincidentally my physio brought up positivity and health today so I told her about your link. She went to a lecture about this very thing as part of her ongoing education and thought it would be a fuzzy new age psycho babble tree huggers lecture but was pleasantly surprised all references were medical. She has kept a gratitude log ever since and had a goal to find 3 things every day to write down. She also said the act of writing or typing is important because it cements it in the brain.
At first she found 3 a day to be a challenge but just as negativity feeds on itself so does positivity. I agree with this. Doesn't matter how irrelevant what you're being grateful for might seem.
So going to my appointment in peak traffic I hit a 40km school zone. Rather than stress I might be running late I enjoyed how relaxing it was not to speed to keep up with other frantic drivers

Don't want this to turn into an extension of the MoFo Support Group thread - but my good news is my landlords are giving me until the end of July to move out. I appealed to them in a letter with my last rent check explaining some of the difficulties I'm facing. And, based on my 9 years as an exemplary tenant, they granted me some extra time. This is a blessing because now I don't have to feel I'm in a complete panic and I can work at a more steady pace to prepare.
Due to my nature, I can already feel the immediate pressure being off leading to procrastination - but that's up to me to be aware of and address while I have the time. (Writing the issue out here may help with that = a little self-awareness / mental-feedback type of thing.)
Please feel free to remind me to get my butt in gear and keep it there.
Great news, Cap. I was wondering about your situation yesterday.
I also understand the procrastination thing. I know the tomorrow book well.
All the best with your search and hopefully they give you a lovely reference.

The first 15 days of May here in Connecticut have been really chilly. Maximum of 60 F. And every day a very cold wind. So cold it blew my hat off today. But good news: each day now is exponentially getting warmer with a predicted high of eightieish on Thursday. I can wear my new summer shorts with a tee shirt & flip flops.

90+ today in Connecticut. Long-awaited. Walked through local park & saw 5 baby goslings with their parents. So frickin cute. No ducklings yet.
I forgot yesterday's moment of gratitude. Just as I was leaving for physiotherapy at 8am I heard noise at the front door. There was a young courier delivering some equipment for Mr D. Wow this guy's smile lit up the misty street. So nice to be greeted by such a happy person first thing in the am. Then drove to physio with my car seat heater on. Such a wonderful indulgence. Walked into physio and the receptionist said she left a message for me the afternoon before to say my practitioner was off sick and she was so sorry I made the trip. Hell, that was fine by me. I had a warm bum, a nice greeting at the front door, a good ole chat with my favourite receptionist and the rest of the day off. W0000T

It's only 5-10 minutes away and I enjoy my visits in that hospital - The staff are just really sweet. It was my fault for not getting the message. Not really a big deal for me, and atleast my physio stayed away rather than infect her clients. I just stopped at a shopping centre much larger than mine on the way home to buy some ingredients for last night's dinner my usual supermarket doesnt stock. It was all good.

Good stuff. I hope you screen it on mofo.
Figuring out some new special effects. Spent all day learning and connected a few dots realizing this can carry over to all avenues of media/art. Like sitting down with a calculator and a sheet of paper, figuring out monthly expenses and a long term budget to get out of debt, you're using creativity to solve a problem and trying to be efficient in life to free up time for other things without worrying..good God, what am I saying, what the hell is going on here?!

Joel's posted photos of himself here (on the personal photos thread) in the past.
Or at least I assume it's him, otherwise he's been posting photos of a man who is handsome for a man! ;)

I walk my dogs at 3 or 4am. Pretty sure I havent been murdered yet. I'll try 2.30am and get back to you if I'm not dead. I also walked around NYC at that time to buy some water. I survived. I even walked around Ecuador at 4am taking photos Holy crap I was given food and drinks from locals. I did not explode.

Right. Scandinavia seems very civilized. Though they also have their troubles from time to time.

Very, very little. I've lived in more than 2 countries in my life, including a hairy third world country with crime rates that would make you empty your bowels, twice. This place is almost paradise. :)

Not gonna be negative about today's weather in a positivity blog, but it sure is toasty here in CT. And husband has yet to install AC in bedroom.
My dog ended up in intensive care a few days ago BUT HE'S COMING HOME TODAY. Feeling pretty happy, especially with the vet I just spoke to. Best telephone manner I have ever encountered. And special thanks to the two mofos who let me quietly freak out backstage. You know who you are.

Me too, nebs. Got a bit worrying for a bit but now all is right in the land.

It's going to be a dogs on the lounge under the doona to watch movies all weekend. Bliss.

Beautiful day today in CT. High seventies, light wind, barely any humidity. Five goslings in the park. Almost as big as their parents now. Four little ducklings. Male parent nowhere in sight.
A tiny ant crawled out of my Subway veggie footlong on Sunday. Reported it to Subway. Franchise owner called me tonight & said next Sunday's footlong will be free. :)

Hey there, guys! How is everyone? I have not been around recently and have not even watched a film in a long while. However, I am doing good as I have just gotten back from holiday and had a great time. For those who have known me a while and know that I was at university, I got the grade I wanted for my course and I have been accepted into a masters degree in filmmaking which I am very excited about! :)
Welcome back - I was only thinking about you yesterday - and hearty congrats!

Met a homeless couple outside the supermarket this morning. Very young & very polite. They had their female pit bull with them. Lovely dog. I told them I would bring them a supermarket gift card when I was done shopping that they could use in the store. When I came out about 30 minutes later, they were gone. Annoying. Really wanted to help their dog at least since it wasn’t the dog’s fault they were all homeless.

Because he lost something & said I threw it away (I may have, by mistake). Doesn’t take much to set him off.

I have been thinking a lot recently about how I have been leading my life. Since around September 2015, although I have been getting along with my studies and getting along OK academically, I have slowly become less ambitious for the most part. I have been watching fewer and fewer films, and have been losing interest in such productive hobbies and instead, partying much more frequently, and heavily etc. etc. My education is doing fine in terms of grades but I feel I have been learning very little. A positive to come of this, though, is that I feel that I am changing now, and becoming more interested with my hobbies again... and I am going to do what I can to retain this.
I am now doing a Masters in Filmmaking and actually starting to learn new things. My skills aren't nearly as good as others in my class but I have space to learn, and want to learn more and more. I am making a documentary and although I am worried about the logistics of everything so that everything comes together well, I am excited to make a proper start on it and see what I can do.
I am also planning on getting a membership card for a local cinema that allows me to watch as many films as I like at a monthly fee which should be fun and will allow me to keep up to date with the latest films.
So... although I haven't really been feeling all that great recently, and having quite a low self-esteem, I think a positive I would like to share with you all is that I honestly think that this can change. The new year is coming up and I am ready to get right back on track right now.
