Hi all you movie buffs. Craig here all the way from the beautiful harbor city of Sydney. I have been a movie nuff since forever.. Actually since a little kid when I and a few of my friends sneaked into the local pitcture theatre to watch the American serials before the main event. The manager nabbed us eventually and there was all hell to pay from Mum and Dad.

Folks can I access an avatar on this site. If so how?

I also noted the site has a Quizz forum. I have run quizzes on other forums. How do I go about setting one up here?

Hi there. I'm a horror movie nuff myself. How spooky do you like your movies?

When did that happen? I didnt realise nuff cinemas ran american serials before movies. That's cool.

How do I add a quote? This is odd.

The horror films I most like are those with a supernatural theme to them. Thus my username. The best I ever saw is The Innocents based on the Henry James novel Turn of the Screw. I have since seen many remakes but none that touch this masterpiece.:)

I was nine or ten. I am now almost 60. Believe me in those days they showed the American serials before the main feature. One episode always ended with a cliffhanger..so you had to bowl up next week to watch the next episode to see what eventuated. That was how they got bums on picture seats in those days.

That's interesting. I'm 50, and American, but I never saw any serials in theaters, and hadn't heard of them existing since maybe the 1940s. So were these older serials they were rehashing? Just curious.

Yes I am being in Sydney. Thx for your concern. Our northern state of Queensland copped the full brunt of the cyclone/hurricane.(never quite know the difference). There were reported winds of 280kph..not sure what that is in miles. Wiped out a large portion of Australia's total tropical fruit crop.

Thx for heads up on quote.
I am talking the late fifties early sixties. Believe me they still had American serials in Aussie picture theatres. At least in our little one out in the boondocks. They must have been rehashed serials. I recall Jet Jackson may have been one? The Invisible Man ,Dick Tracy could have been others.

On the Edit Avatar (https://www.movieforums.com/community/profile.php?do=editavatar) page, which you can find on the left-hand column when you click on "User CP" in the header. You can find pretty much any option you're looking for there.

I also noted the site has a Quizz forum. I have run quizzes on other forums. How do I go about setting one up here?
There's no automated system: you just have to talk to myself, or someone like The Rodent (who helps me run that area). He's got a thread about it (https://www.movieforums.com/community/showthread.php?t=46193). We like to talk it over and approve them first so people don't create duplicates, and so they follow a range of standard formats and all that. :) Thanks for inquiring!

Thank you. Any of you people like quizzes. Not the multiple choice types here but name the actor.. or name the film quizzes. I am interested in setting one up. Just have to find out precisely where from admin.

Hey bud, I sent you a reply to the quiz convo we were having, not sure if you saw it.
Your quiz game idea is cool... start a thread in Games And Tabs :)

I linked you to a relevant thread and mentioned the user should contact above: check it out if you haven't seen the post yet.

That said, our software's only setup for multiple choice quizzes. But you can do one yourself (just not automatically, in that existing system) in a thread, or something of the sort. We have a forum called Games & Tabs; that's where it would go.

Hello all. I have posted my quiz thread. Not exactly setting the house on fire. It is probably too simple a concept compared to some of the other quiz and games here. .I need someone to kick off my thread to engender some interest from the regulars. Meanwhile I am enjoying chipping in on some of the other interesting threads on this great site. have a great day all.

I like you already, I loved that film. Have you seen Turn of the Screw (2009) based on the same novel? I liked The Innocents better but if you like the story, it's still a good movie.

Yes Spookie is fine. Thanks for the welcome CR..that ok? The Innocents was the orginal and the best in my view too. The 2009 version who was in that? I saw a 2004 version the other nite titled Presence of Mind. Gotta tell you sent shivers down my spine like the Innocents. See if you can watch that. Have you played my actor/actress quiz yet?
