The boring stuff
Participants will each have eight nominations - those nominations being a song (or version of a song) that was initially released during one of the eight periods listed below (with no participant nominating more than one song emanating from any one period):
• 1940 - 1949
• 1950 - 1959
• 1960 - 1969
• 1970 - 1979
• 1980 - 1989
• 1990 - 1999
• 2000 - 2009
• 2010 - present
A link that does not require sign-up or subscription must be provided to each song (for instance YouTube).
All genres of music are eligible as long as an acceptable link can be provided - only winners and runners-up of previous Song Tournaments (http://www.movieforums.com/community/showthread.php?p=1631140#post1631140) and the eventual winner and runner-up in the Valentines tournament (http://www.movieforums.com/community/showthread.php?p=1629409#post1629409) plus those in the Movie Clip II (http://www.movieforums.com/community/showthread.php?p=1615509#post1615509) tournament (if it begins before this one) are deemed ineligible as nominations.
Participants are expected to listen to both songs in each match prior to voting.
The start date for this tournament will be announced once the aforementioned Valentines tournament is nearing completion.

Hmmm. A "music from the future" song tournament might be interesting. How would that work? Nominate songs you hope represent the future of music? Could be another anything goes kind of thing.

Never know a change might do you good ..... or you could always channel your inner Britney and pick songs you think she could have possibly made had she been born in the respective era ;)
Who knows - maybe the the next tournament I run will be a Britney tournament?

This tournament won't begin until at least after the Valentines' one finishes.
As far as mojo's movie clip tournament goes it will totally depend on how much interest that garners and the number of players that would like to play both tourneys - if that tournament garners lots of interest or any of those that want to play both prefer them not to run concurrently then it would also wait until that one neared completion before beginning.

Certainly no hate involved, Minnie was mine .... I might dislike any number of songs but I rarely hate many and even then I usually reserve such a strong emotion for those that I didn't care for that were played to death making hearing them ad nauseum to an extent unavoidable.

OK, it's a great idea, so maybe just wait until you can do it. We have numerous new members now, so I bet if it's brought to their attention, you'd get more people in it.
I can relate on the house stuff. That's what's been getting loads of my time. I'm in the middle of redoing mine, and by summer or fall, a bunch of rooms are getting added on. It's very exciting remodeling an old home. :)

Hopefully it will be, sadly I'm not accepting further entries now - though if you did want to join and could round up three others that likewise wanted to participate I would readily lower the drawbridge temporarily. Alternatively if someone drops out there'd be a spot up for grabs so you could be 'first reserve' as it were if you wanted.
Normally I have no restrictions with regards players on these types of things but this one is just a little more difficult to manage so I'm having to impose limits just this once.

Oh crap. Sorry about that. :) Yep, I've been very busy. Thanks for your patience. I truly appreciate it. Will it be a problem if I do these tonight? That would be roughly 16 hours from now. I'm leaving in roughly an hour and 15 minutes, and I won't be back until tonight. I'm helping a family member get registered into the hospital for surgery. Then we have to work on her living will. It's one of those cheery type days. ;) I suppose if it's a problem, give my spot to Ed. If it's not a problem, then thanks again. I really will appreciate it. I do want to be in on this.

OK. Well, here is a thread that I made to help everyone keep track of their ideas. It also helps us to not miss out on any of the upcoming threads. It also helps us call a thread title that we'd like to run, before someone else names it. It also helps us to schedule when we'd all like to run our threads, as well as participate in them.

I like how he played in particulary at interstellar overdrive. Eventually yet to heard ummagumma, yet complete their discography instead of their popular albumsInterstellar is a curious piece. They seem to have taken the musical liberties from the Jazz of that time. Ummagumma is an experiment. Is divided in two parts: a live side and a studio side. The studio side tracks were assigned to each member so they could come up with whatever they could. It's not a good album, but for experimentation purposes is very interesting.
It was the first PF album I got, and made me their fan.

Scorpions - Still Loving You vs The Coasters - Searchin' I like Searchin' but I love Still Loving You. Starts all ethereal and goes into full blown massive guitar at the end. Boss (as they say in Liverpool)
Steely Dan - Rikki Don't Lose That Number vs Velvet Underground - Rock & Roll - great track from the Velvets but Rikki has long been a fave, I love Steely Dan, we don't hear enough of them on the song tourneys
Earl Hines-Stormy Monday Blues vs Lionel Richie & Darius Rucker ~ Stuck on You - no contest on this one. The first is a classic
Cherry Glazerr - Told You I'd Be With the Guys vs Crispian St. Peter's-The Pied Piper - I thought I'd be going with the familiar Pied Piper that I liked when I was a kid, but I liked the Cherry Glazerr song more
Glenn Miller - Jukebox Saturday Night vs Alan Jackson - Remember When (2003) I do like a bit of big band music now and again but GBG has done that thing she does now and again to me, that's choose a song that is really sentimental, but kills me. I'm a bit of a sucker for those 'I still love in in spite of all the years' so thanks GBG for bringing a tear to me eye at 8am on a Sunday morning!
Vera Lynn - White Cliffs of Dover vs Neil Diamond & Barbra Streisand - You Don't Bring Me Flowers (1978) - I do like the second, but I dunno, White Cliffs of Dover seems to be in the DNA of Brits of a certain age.
Buffalo Springfield - For What It's Worth vs Metallica ~ Enter Sandman - two great songs, hard to choose
Kaleo-Way Down We Go vs The Pixies - Ana - I loved Way Down We Go, seems familiar even tho I don't remember where I've heard it before if you know what I mean. I'm listening to more of their stuff now.
some great tunes in this round. Great idea to match across decades. Makes you appreciate a wide range of music (if you didn't already!)

ROUND 1 - DAY 1
Scorpions - Still Loving You vs The Coasters - Searchin'-This was a tough call. I've always liked the first, but nothing more. I never heard the second before, and I enjoyed it.
Steely Dan - Rikki Don't Lose That Number vs Velvet Underground - Rock & Roll-I prefer a couple other Steely Dan songs, but that's a good one too. I thought it would get my vote; I just enjoyed the other more. Is that Lou Reed singing?
Earl Hines-Stormy Monday Blues vs Lionel Richie & Darius Rucker ~ Stuck on You-I already disliked the original Stuck On You, then they had to go add Rucker and make it even worse.
Cherry Glazerr - Told You I'd Be With the Guys vs Crispian St. Peter's-The Pied Piper-The second I loved as a child when my parents used to listen to it, and thankfully it popped into my mind recently. I liked the first song too.
Glenn Miller - Jukebox Saturday Night vs Alan Jackson - Remember When (2003)-The second just didn't do much for me.
Vera Lynn - White Cliffs of Dover vs Neil Diamond & Barbra Streisand - You Don't Bring Me Flowers (1978)-Strangely enough, I liked the second when I was little. Now it sounded a bit corny. The first isn't exactly my taste either, but it was a lovely song.
Buffalo Springfield - For What It's Worth vs Metallica ~ Enter Sandman-Both of these songs have been overplayed to death, but yet they're good choices to represent their respective decades. I've never loved the first, but I've always liked it. I once loved Sandman, but now I couldn't care less about it.
Kaleo-Way Down We Go vs The Pixies - Ana-About a month ago, I was driving with my wife back from her friend's house and she put a station on that plays newer music. I heard the first song and put it on my tournament list. Otherwise, I would have had a hard time picking something from this decade. I liked the other song but it seemed like it was over before it started.

ROUND 1 DAY 1
Scorpions - Still Loving You vs The Coasters - Searchin'
That Scorpions song has always been one of my favorites. One of the most epic rock ballads of the 80's!
Steely Dan - Rikki Don't Lose That Number vs Velvet Underground - Rock & Roll
Rikki is a great song, but Velvet Underground's song has more swagger and attitude.
Earl Hines-Stormy Monday Blues vs Lionel Richie & Darius Rucker ~ Stuck on You
The first represents its decade excellently, but there's no beating the soulful voices of Lionel and Darius singing one of Lionel's best hits.
Cherry Glazerr - Told You I'd Be With the Guys vs Crispian St. Peter's-The Pied Piper
Cherry Glazerr is THE best thing I've discovered in music so far this year, and that song of hers is hot, and so is she! Never cared for the second.
Glenn Miller - Jukebox Saturday Night vs Alan Jackson - Remember When (2003)
The first did not peak my interest, and the second was okay.
Vera Lynn - White Cliffs of Dover vs Neil Diamond & Barbra Streisand - You Don't Bring Me Flowers (1978)
Both songs did not peak my interest, but the first represents its era excellently.
Buffalo Springfield - For What It's Worth vs Metallica ~ Enter Sandman
Both great tunes from their respective decades, but the first is just too awesome to beat.
Kaleo-Way Down We Go vs The Pixies - Ana
Kaleo is the second best thing I've discovered in music so far this year. His song is captivating.

Thank you, and I agree. I will be honest about something. I don't know much about the music from the 2010 . . . 's. I kind of wish I'd ask my kids, because they know way more than I do. However, I have a personal rule about these tournaments. I won't join in, unless I actually know enough songs to nominate. My kids have nominated a few songs for me, but I knew about them, and could have easily filled in all the slots, myself. So, the 2010's, my son just showed me three songs that would have qualified, and they are good. This first song has one strange video to it, and Lou Diamond Phillips as one of the actors. Very weird. :p
Imagine Dragons ~ Radioactive

Glenn Miller - Jukebox Saturday Night vs Alan Jackson - Remember When (2003) I do like a bit of big band music now and again but GBG has done that thing she does now and again to me, that's choose a song that is really sentimental, but kills me. I'm a bit of a sucker for those 'I still love in in spite of all the years' so thanks GBG for bringing a tear to me eye at 8am on a Sunday morning!

ROUND 1 - DAY 1
Scorpions - Still Loving You vs The Coasters - Searchin' - Still loving you is a damn classic. Very moody and well put together. The intro is legendary. The voice is great. The lyrics are simple but effective.
Steely Dan - Rikki Don't Lose That Number vs Velvet Underground - Rock & Roll - I'm not aware of Steely Dan, so I'll pick what I know.
Earl Hines-Stormy Monday Blues vs Lionel Richie & Darius Rucker ~ Stuck on You- That trumpet.
Cherry Glazerr - Told You I'd Be With the Guys vs Crispian St. Peter's-The Pied Piper- Minimalism is good sometimes. And the girl knows how to play. Watching the clip on Crispian, he hilariously looked like a pederast.
Glenn Miller - Jukebox Saturday Night vs Alan Jackson - Remember When (2003)- It's Glenn Miller.
Vera Lynn - White Cliffs of Dover vs Neil Diamond & Barbra Streisand - You Don't Bring Me Flowers (1978) - never cared for Streisand
Buffalo Springfield - For What It's Worth vs Metallica ~ Enter Sandman- I'm a sort of a Metal Head, though I pretty much dislike any Metallica after And Justice For All, Enter Sandman has a catchy riff.
Kaleo-Way Down We Go vs The Pixies - Ana- I used to have a neighbor who would play Pixies from morning till late at night. I simply can't stand it any more.

Bobby Darin ~ Mack the Knife vs Egypt Central - You Make Me Sick-The second is ok but nothing stands out about it.
Midori - Wasshoi vs The Offspring - The Kids Aren't Alright-I know that second song and already like it. The other is a little crazy for me.
Grade Wicker - Lulu Brown vs There There - Radiohead-I liked the Lulu song; I'm surprised it hasn't been featured on a soundtrack. I don't mind Radiohead but I don't quite understand all the love they get.
Roots Manuva - Witness the Fitness vs The Kinks - You Really Got Me-My style vs what isn't my style, although I have respect for that first song.
The Ink Spots - I Cover the Waterfront vs The Clash - Should I stay Should I Go-That first song is nice and smooth but the second is too cool.
The Weather Girls - It's raining men vs Marty Robbins - The Hanging Tree (1959)-I do have appreciation for the first since it once gave me the hint that I was in a gay bar, but I don't especially like it. I do like what I've heard from Mr. Robbins.

Cherry Glazerr - Told You I'd Be With the Guys (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GFgz9aiiZlQ) vs Crispian St. Peter's-The Pied Piper (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8XamJo7DYoo)

Guns N' Roses-Yesterdays vs Frankie Laine - West End Blues - loved the trumpet and Frankie's laconic singing
Leroy Van Dyke - Walk On By (1961) vs King Crimson - Epitaph - that was really weird, I glanced at this and though oh yeah Walk on By (as in Dionne Warwick) but I knew all the words to this song, I reckon we must've had this record when I was a kid.
Blick Bassy - Ake vs Perfect Stranger - You Have the Right to Remain Silent (1995) - Blick Bassy is supercool
Nat King Cole ~ I Love You for Sentimental Reasons vs Michael Bublé - My Kind of Girl (2016) That song is the business
Doris Day - Whatever will be, will be (Que Sera, Sera) vs En Vogue - Don't Let Go Doris is great and the song is a classic, but I liked Don't Let Go when it came out

ROUND 1 - DAY 4
3 Doors Down ~ Kryptonite vs Woody Guthrie - Ain't Got No Home In This World Any More-I should be sick of the first but I'm not.
Bruce Springsteen - Hungry Heart vs Black Hole Sun - Soundgarden-Close call; I've just gotten a little tired of the second.
Monotones - Book of Love vs Cog - What If-The second grew on me a little, but it was nice hearing the first after a good while.
Cher - You haven't seen the last of me vs The Big Bopper-Chantilly Lace-Easy call, although I used to like Cher as an entertainer, and especially as an actress.
The Zombies - This will be our year vs Violet Hill - Coldplay-I wasn't particularly fond of the first, but how could I vote for Coldplay? People could talk.
Stay on these Roads - A-Ha vs Bruce Springsteen - My Hometown (1985)-The first was pretty bad but I didn't totally mind it.
Blur - Lonesome Street vs Bon Jovi ~ Livin' on a Prayer-I liked the first; it was kind of funky. I could do without hearing the other for a few years.
Roxette - It Must Have Been Love vs Depeche Mode - Enjoy the Silence § (alt link if reqd)-I used to like the first more, while I think I like the second more than I used to.
3 Doors Down ~ Kryptonite vs Woody Guthrie - Ain't Got No Home In This World Any More
Bruce Springsteen - Hungry Heart vs Black Hole Sun - Soundgarden
Used to like BHS but the drumming and composition now feel a bit flat.
Monotones - Book of Love vs Cog - What If

I'll probably go ahead and finish both of these up tonight. I've been in loads of pain because of these stupid storms, so I plan on being one major lazy butt all day tomorrow. Some of the alphabetical "Awards" type movies that are finishing up on Turner Classic Movies, are my favorites, so I want to watch them. I just finished watching Victor/Victoria. 3 Doors Down ~ Kryptonite (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xPU8OAjjS4k)
Bruce Springsteen - Hungry Heart (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lQSn26zCXYQ)
One of the only songs Bruce Springsteen ever sang, that was good. Oh yeah, I went there!
Monotones - Book of Love (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qIfuNPbBaaA)
The Big Bopper-Chantilly Lace (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=jNrpAgTXiC4)
Now that was tough.
Violet Hill - Coldplay (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IakDItZ7f7Q)
I couldn't decide, so I once again cheated. I simply give my point to the slacker for support . It's not my fault. I still blame that damn randomizer your using.
Stay on these Roads - A-Ha (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nWey1DBAchM)
Bon Jovi ~ Livin' on a Prayer (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bXsmGSnq3lE)
Roxette - It Must Have Been Love (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=k2C5TjS2sh4)

Rod Stewart - Maggie May vs Love me tender - Elvis - the only Elvis song I care about [also a thing between me and the wife]

ROUND 1 - DAY 5
Sonic Youth - Teen Age Riot vs Silverchair - Freak (remix)-I thought these were both pretty decent.
Amii Stewart-Knock on Wood vs Chips & Co - Marbletown-Give me disco, or give me death!
Specimen - Kiss Kiss Bang Bang vs Portishead - Roads-Two more I liked; good going to whoever nominated the live version of the second.
Elvis Presley - All Shook Up vs Wardruna - Odal-That second song was weird but I didn't mind listening to it.
Ewan MaColl and Peggy Seeger - Dirty Old Town vs B.B. King - Rock Me, Baby-I didn't dislike the first, but I won't listen to it again until I'm an old man living in a cabin somewhere.
Rod Stewart - Maggie May vs Love me tender - Elvis-I was once sick of Maggie May. Back in the day before CD's, jukeboxes didn't have a big selection, but that song was on every one and people would constantly play it in every bar. It seems like a song that would be overplayed in these tournaments, but that's not the case. It's a great song, as is the Elvis song.
The Cult-She Sells Sanctuary vs Madonna - La Isla Bonita-I like some Madonna songs but that ain't one of them.
Gojira - Silvera vs Hammerfall - Glory to the brave-I wasn't into stuff as heavy as the first even when I was younger.
Fabulous

Cher - You haven't seen the last of me vs The Big Bopper-Chantilly Lace
The Zombies - This will be our year vs Violet Hill - Coldplay
Stay on these Roads - A-Ha vs Bruce Springsteen - My Hometown (1985)

ROUND 1 - DAY 6 (final day of this round)
Les Rallizes Dénudés - Night Of The Assassins vs Patti Smith Group - Because the night-I liked the first song a good amount and have never cared for the other.
Hammerfall - Hearts on fire vs The Chainsmokers - Closer-I liked the first song. If any guy over 18 plays the second song loud enough for me to hear it, I'm going to punch him in the face!
Cliff Edwards - When You Wish Upon a Star vs A whiter Shade of Pale - Procol Harum-I've heard the second enough in my life, but I'm still more likely to enjoy it more than the other, which is great in the right context.
Boney M - Rasputin vs Starless - King Crimson-I thought both of these were great!
Modest Mouse - Float On vs OutKast - Ms. Jackson-I generally don't like artists who butcher spelling.
Justin Timberlake-SexyBack vs Led Zeppelin - Babe I'm Gonna Leave You-For god's sake what am I supposed to do here. I have to go against my own nom and go with the song I once nominated when there were no qualifications.
Sting - Desert Rose vs The Zombies - Time of the Season-I'm so sick of the second song which has probably been nominated like 20 times before, but anything is better than that creepy Sting and his cronies.
As time goes by - Dooley Wilson vs Billie Holiday - Crazy He Calls Me-Someone was slick sneaking that first song in there. The other was excellent as well but I recently watched Casablanca.

Hammerfall - Hearts on fire vs The Chainsmokers - Closer - it's been good hearing some of these Scandinavian black metal groups in teh last couple of tournaments. Good that new people have joined :D
Cliff Edwards - When You Wish Upon a Star vs A whiter Shade of Pale - Procol Harum
Boney M - Rasputin vs Starless - King Crimson - Rasputin, little microcosm of perfect pop. I liked KC more tho
Modest Mouse - Float On vs OutKast - Ms. Jackson
Justin Timberlake-SexyBack vs Led Zeppelin - Babe I'm Gonna Leave You I'm no LZ fan but that's not a JT song I like
Sting - Desert Rose vs The Zombies - Time of the Season - Sting gives me the creeps too (and his missus) besides which I don't care how many times I hear The Zombies :)
As time goes by - Dooley Wilson vs Billie Holiday - Crazy He Calls Me oh dear, two really great songs drawn against each other. Could easily have chosen either but I love Billie's voice so going for Crazy

Les Rallizes Dénudés - Night Of The Assassins vs Patti Smith Group - Because the Night --- patti smith is lovely goddes but i gonna pick my 70's stoner
Hammerfall - Hearts on fire vs The Chainsmokers - Closer --- actually i expect something, different, from group that called themselves "the chainsmokers"
Cliff Edwards - When You Wish Upon a Star vs A Whiter Shade of Pale - Procol Harum
Boney M - Rasputin vs Starless - King Crimson --- i really don't expect and want to do this for KC, especially this epic, Starless, but boney m - rasputin (along with river of bablyon) was my rarely childhood gem that still highly regarded, till now - thx dad
Modest Mouse - Float On vs OutKast - Ms. Jackson --- both fine song, like outkast bit more i suppose
Justin Timberlake-SexyBack vs Led Zeppelin - Babe I'm Gonna Leave You --- actually parts of ledz that i don't want to hear anymore
Sting - Desert Rose vs The Zombies - Time of the Season --- the absurd reason i picked sting because it remind me the time my sister really-really crazed with mtv stuff - and the epic remote control fight

Cliff Edwards - When You Wish Upon a Star vs A whiter Shade of Pale - Procol Harum - both are timeless classics. The first is adorable, the second is just my kind of whimsical.
Boney M - Rasputin vs Starless - King Crimson - "starless aaand... bible blaaaaaaaaaack"
Modest Mouse - Float On vs OutKast - Ms. Jackson - rarely you encounter someone mentioning Modest Mouse.
Justin Timberlake-SexyBack vs Led Zeppelin - Babe I'm Gonna Leave You - I sung this song to an ex.girlfirend. Yep... I was that kind of a douche.
Sting - Desert Rose vs The Zombies - Time of the Season - beautiful tune.
As time goes by - Dooley Wilson vs Billie Holiday - Crazy He Calls Me - a damn good classic. A curio: there was this playing card machine at a bar I used to go. When you inserted the coin and played Poker, this tune would play. I would put the coin in just to hear the music.

My vote goes to cricket 'cos I get the impression many of them will have some sort of licentious story attached :)
I reckon christine's will all be linked to either a certain geographical location, some football occasion or sentimental familial happening, gbg's all connected to great cattle drives or shoot-outs she was involved in and mine would all be obviously fake as I've never yet listened to a song in it's entirety in my life as either the cats or herself always interrupt.

*this message will self destruct should it cause anyone involved undue and unintentional stress
Cattle drives or shoot-outs??? Do you even listen to the songs that I nominate in these tournaments?
My favorite songs are sad songs about loss and heartbreak, and love songs. The other stuff that I nominate is for the rest of you so I might be able to slip a nom into round 2 for a change. :)

Mojo has logged in the last couple of days but not voted so I'm now closing down days four and five, using my votes to settle ties where necessary (I'll embolden those sent through via my votes).
Day six has been open for 25 hours now and still waiting for votes from Ðèstîñy Gatsby mistique and mojofilter - I'll leave it open for another four hours and then close that one off too (settling ties myself if necessary) so we can move on to Round Two.

If it helps those yet to vote on Day Six - only matches 1, 3, 4 & 8 are now still yet to be decided.
Support your songs people!
Your songs need you!
Ask not what your song can do for you but what you can do for your song!
Loose lips tend to fall off faces!
... and other such motivational phrases that may be applicable to greater or lesser degrees.

OK, I was joking before, but now I feel a bit robbed. I've kept up this entire thread. "Round 1, day 6" still is a "1" day old post. It was right at 36 hours old, when I got here. Why can't you wait for posters who are normally voting on time? I get why you gave up on MoJo. However, you are on day seven of the sets, yet the very first round still says "6 days ago". Thank God none of those were mine, but still, there were four ties, and I suppose you got to break them. What's the rush?

I understood that Chyp was putting up one round in our European morning and closing it 24 hours later. Seems ok to me.

No rush, moving along at a nice steady pace in fact. A shame you missed out on Day Six but that particular set was open for 29 hours for voting and as was clearly indicated was the last set of that round meaning the tournament could not move on until it was closed. You seem to be inferring that somehow a round or more has been open less than 24 hours for voting - I know for a fact they haven't but please feel free to go look at timestamps of when rounds were put up and when results were announced to allay any concern you may have on that front and you will see it is not so. Yes, I got to break the ties - as I shall do with any future instances of ties within this tournament.

You seem to be inferring that somehow a round or more has been open less than 24 hours for voting -
No, that's not what I said. No where in there did I say you haven't taken a set to 24 hours. My post actually shows that you are dead on balls accurate for the 24 hours. However, I'll try to put you in my place, to get what I mean . . .
Still waiting on:
Day Four (http://www.movieforums.com/community/showthread.php?p=1659228#post1659228): mojofilter (just matches 2, 7 & 8 need votes)
Day Five (http://www.movieforums.com/community/showthread.php?p=1659914#post1659914): mistique; mojofilter; gatsby (matches 1-3 already decided)
Since you gave extra days for those sets, I assumed one extra day would be given "if need be" for this final set. I didn't know you weren't going to allow that kind of extra time with this set, because it was the final set, and you didn't want to wait any longer on getting round two posted. I didn't know that was going to change anything. Hence my surprise when I got online today, to round two being up and running.
Anyways, that was it. I was sickly, and didn't feel like getting to it until today. I thought I figured it out accurately enough. Apparently not!

I gave extra time for sets 1-5 where required because up until Day Six the tournament is not held up at all by doing so, at no point have I indicated the final day of a round would automatically be granted the same leeway. That said if it's a generally busy time of year for people or someone specifically makes me aware of a circumstance where a little extra time would be of benefit I've never been averse to granting a bit of an extension on the final day of a round as long as timelines are reasonable .... but as much as my unerring ability to predict the next entries on countdown threads might lead people to believe otherwise I'm not actually psychic and do need to be made aware in such situations.
Hope you are feeling less ill now.

I don't think the take-up rate would be high but a small tourney might be nice imo.
There's been talk of a general song tournament soon but nobody apart from myself has indicated they would run it and tbh I might no longer be interested unless it was in a few months time.
