Hey everyone,

I'm originally from New York (always will be a NYer by heart) and live in Florida. I've been a film fan for as long as I can remember. I am a library cataloger by day, film blogger by night you can say. I came up with my nickname after the name of my blog, but I have been blogging for a good part of a decade now.

I used to focus solely on Asian films, especially Hong Kong films as it was my speciality being a Film Studies graduate. I blogged from 2008-2015 on mostly martial arts action films for Kung Fu Cinema and have even been in print for a few UK-based publications that focused on Asian cinema. However, I do love most kinds of films and have been expanding my international taste in films, hence the nickname as well :)

I admit I am a geek as I not only love films, but love anime and manga as well as playing video games with my kids. I recently celebrated my 38th birthday (I don't feel it thats for sure) :) but it's been great posting on here and will continue to enjoy it :)

If what you say is true....

What are the differences between DBZ & DBS from Japan to America and which is better?

For real. I need to know and I don't have 3 months for research.

Good to have you.

That's the way it works in my family. We're born in Brooklyn. We grow up on Long Island. And we retire in Florida. :)

What part of New York are you from, and where in Florida do you live now?

Welcome aboard. It's always nice to see somebody who has an interest in a section of film that doesn't have the biggest following. I am looking forward to some martial arts film recommendations at some point.

Have you seen The Grandmaster (2013; Wong Kar-wai)

Born in the Bronx, raised in Westchester, and I'm currently near Orlando.

I love The Grandmaster. It was my introduction to one of my favorite new action stars, Max Zhang Jin, who recently fought Donnie Yen in the finale of Ip Man 3 and has a few projects lined up later this year.

Martial arts films I would recommend are Undisputed II (2006) and Undisputed III (2010), an indie action comedy called Unlucky Stars (only available through video on demand platforms), Never Back Down: No Surrender (2016), Ninja: Shadow of a Tear (2013), Flash Point (2007), SPL (2005), Ong-Bak (2003), and Beyond Redemption (2015) as it pertains to the last good part of a decade.

DBZ in Japan I got started on when I was 13 (thanks to my best friends who at the time were Japanese) and DBS takes place after DBZ (don't even count DBGT as Akira Toriyama, the creator of the DB universe had no involvement as he does with DBS). I started on DBS via Crunchyroll just a few weeks ago, but have been catching up on Nanbaka and finished Izetta: Die Letzte Hexe.

From what I see so far, DBS is pretty good but I think DBZ has a better edge and I do recommend seeing DBS in Japanese with subs rather than English dubbed because some of the voices don't exactly fit the characters. That's my two cents on it

Welcome to MoFo! I see you have A League of Their Own in your Top 10 movies. I don't hear much about that one. I enjoyed it myself.
