The Longest Ride is a romantic drama film setting in North Carolina, United States. The film is directed by Georges Tillman Jr. and written by Craig Bolton. The story is based on the 2013 novel of the same name written by Nicholas Sparks. The film stars Scott Eastwood, Britt Robertson, Jack Hutson, Oona Chaplin and Alan Alda.
Luke Collins, acting by Scott Eastwood, is a professional bull rider who is seriously injured on night while performing. A year after recovering, he starts rinding again and meets Sophia Danko, acting by Britt Robertson, after she attends the show. She is a art student living in a sorority at the local university.
After dating for the first time, they attend a car crash and help rescue an older man who is stuck inside the fire-car.
While in the hospital, Sophia keep visiting the old man, Ira Levinson, acting by Alan Alda. He explains why he has all of these letters inside the box which Sophia pulled out of the car during the crash night. He tell the story how he met his soul mate, Ruth, and how they lived during all of those years.
The film tell about two love story : the love between Luke and Sophia and the love between Ira and Ruth which are very similar from each other. At the same time, Luke decide to keep riding but Sophia try to stop him and keep him away from the danger of the bull riding competition. He doesn’t listen to her and take part of the championship final.
Sophia doesn’t attend the show because Ira die the same night. As Sophia is, Ira and Ruth were art lovers and they had a incredible art collection. During a public sale, all of the painting are sale. Luke buy a painting, which nobody want to buy, represented Ruth. But Ira’s testament say that the person who will buy the paint of Ruth, would get all of the collection.
After being very surprised, Luke and Sophia decided to getting back together and found a museum where they expose all of the painting in memory of Ira and the love he had for Ruth. Luke stop bull riding and Sophia decide to be the museum manager. After ever happy…
At the first side, this film could be too many romantic but when you watch it, you realise that it’s more than that. I don’t love romantic drama film but I watched The Longest Ride during my flight to Los Angeles two years ago and I fell in love with this story. The film show two different lover story which are finally very similar and very complicated. I will never stop watching this film and I advise you to watch it as soon as possible.
