It aint hiting Florida. Theyre already talking how its gonna now go into the Atlantic.

Bout 10 years ago a hurricane was supposed to land in Sarasota, where I was living then, and the damn thing swerved downward 80 miles hitting Fort Myers, they were absolutely caught flatfooted. They have the same unpredictable course/pattern of a tornado/water spout, but much bigger.

Besides our commonwealths, truth be told..... we should be giving Cuba financial aid yearly for serving as a buffer for every hurricane that enters the gulf, or attempts too. Thats kind of a joke, but really isnt.

I read usually these types of hurricanes don't hit Florida (or any land), but, they sound really, really afraid. They say evacuate -- it's life or death. It may be coming to Florida.

Is that shark picture not from NY or NJ after Hurricane Sandy? I remember seeing a lot of them from that and i think they were fake.

Worried about my aunt & uncle (they're also my godparents) in Palm Coast near Flagler Beach.
They're elderly and my uncle who is 89 got sick just a couple days ago, so they weren't able to evacuate.
Last we heard they were going to try to stay at my uncle's brother's house, but he's elderly also and lives in the same area.
We lost contact with them as of this morning.

How far is that from you? Do you have a phone number of friends near there?

So, TONGO, what is going on, weather-wise, where you are right now?

It's pretty far - I live in NJ!
Don't know of anyone else in that area, but I think the landline phones may be out at this time.
If they have cell phones, I don't have their numbers.
We'll check in with my cousin in the morning (my aunt's daughter) who lives in PA, if there's any way to make contact, she'll be the first to do it.

Im in Bradenton, west coast side of the state in the middle. No rain at all. If Steels relatives are the northwest corner of Florida, thats the worst spot to be in statewise.

Theyre like 3 - 3 1/2 hours away from me, and I have to be here for my Mom whose in such rough shape theres no way I could leave her for 6 hours or so. Maybe 7thson & HalfAngel are near there, I know they live in Florida too, I think the east coast.

Thanks for the info. I keep getting different reports depending on what news I check. Some say that it's so bad that millions of people are being evacuated, and others are saying that it's missing land, so it won't be that bad.

Let's hope it's the latter despite however many people evacuated.

I agree. I hope your aunt & uncle are okay. My mom is in Lake Worth, but at least she has a bunch of other relatives in the area who are helping her, so she should be okay, even if the storm gets bad.

There may be some areas being extra careful, but no it hasnt hit land here, and does seem to be veering away from the state gradually. Its a slow moving one. I always found it odd a storm with 75 + mph winds, and the entire system may move 15-20 miles an hour (?)

I just saw some Live footage from West Palm Beach, right in between your prospective friends & family, and theyre getting some rain and wind, but light tropical storm level intensity. The newscaster had no difficulty talking right in the middle of it, if it were true hurricane conditions he would not be able to do that.

My Daughter is in Fort Pierce - hoping she is okay, but looks like the worst is going north of there.

I'm sorry that I disappeared, but I called my mom to make sure that she's okay, and she said she has her hurricane shutters closed so she can't see outside, but as far as she knows, everything is okay where she is. She has power and phones, and she's far enough away from the water that she's not worried about flooding. She's already checked in with all the relatives in the area, and everyone's okay, so she's just sitting home watching TV, and she even has plans to meet people for lunch tomorrow. :)

Yeah Steel I think if your relatives phone isnt working it isnt storm related for where theyre located.

Now the storms path seems to be vertical with the Florida coastline going northward. This is worse than if the storm hit the state straight on. If it made landfall the land would depower it, and by the time it crossed the state become a tropical storm and hopefully dissipate. The way its going the rains wont slow, and its moving at a turtles pace, drowning everything its dragging its system across. Best case scenario is this veers into the Atlantic, or if not that then hit land.

He means well. Hes trying to scare people into evacuating, but the bold way hes going about its gonna get them some backlash. Many didnt evacuate, many dont.

Btw I spoke with Steel in PM, and his aunt & uncle are ok from the storm.
