As many of you know, I've started a new job. I really like it. And I enjoy the people I work with so far. Which brings me to the point.

You guys know that one of the best ways to get to know someone, or start a conversation with someone, is to talk movies. Well, another employee I was working with asked if I had seen any good movies lately. I said yes, and listed them. He said he had too, saying Darkness Falls was one he liked. But, and this is where It gets wierd, he said that it wasn't the movie that scared him so much as the realization that the movie was based on a true story!!. MoFo's, he was really, really serious!! Honest!
For all of you who don't know, the Darkness Falls DVD comes with an extra "documentary" feature, which has interviews with people from the "town" where the movie is based. Of course this is a fake documentary, but the acting is of Blair Witch caliber, so it seems kinda real.

Here's my question: Did I do the right thing and not point out that the extra documentary was a fake? I just feel bad that he is going out into the world thinking that Darkness Falls is the true story of an evil tooth fairy. What would you have done?

I would have laughed at him while pointing my finger obnoxiously in his face until he took a swing at me. Then I'd kill him crying it was self defense all until I was stuck with a needle, and all because I forgot to throw away my "kill the stupid @sshole who thinks any ghost story movie is true, let alone Darkness Falls" list. The humanity of it all...

In my mind, correcting someone about something like that, which could -- and probably will -- be embarrassing for them down the line, is by no means rude. At least no moreso than letting them believe it. Personally, I'd just casually remark that I thought it was all faked to enhance the mood, ala The Blair Witch Project. I think you'll be okay if you're blunt about it, but if you preferred I think you could soften the blow by merely stating it as your opinion, rather than as a fact. Still might get the same point across.

I really hope it doesn't have to come to that Brian.

Yoda, where were you when I needed you the most? Honestly, I just wanted to laugh--I thought he was joking--but after he said it didn't just freak him out, but his wife too, I grew anxious. I just shut up.

R66, how in the world did you hold your face straight… I thought at first it might be a kid but then I read the part about his wife… Anyway, I agree with Yoda… although I must say, I would have backed Brian up when he claimed self-defense…

i think if he was really freaked out that it was true (to him) then you should've said something, but if he was genuinely mystified, leave him be..

I actually had a conversation recently with a guy that wasn't sure. I started telling him how it was directed, but he thought that that would ruin it all for him, so I digressed. I should done what I said I would do. :(

I think you should convince him further by flying into his room at night and stealing all of his teeth.

I used to think that The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was a true story when I was a little kid and was first watching it. Then I found out that it was based on Ed Gein. Before I knew that, I was mortified.

EXCUUUSE me, but all of those movies are very real! What is wrong with you people? I bet you don't believe in John Edward or God either! Misguided heathens!
