This is NOT a 100 worst movies ever made list.
This is a 100 worst movies that WE have seen, OUR barometer, OUR taste. No film is sacred. For instance, Terrence Malicks The Thin Red Line will definitely be on my list, and I fear some will put Forrest Gump on theirs  Im curious how many "supposed favorites" will make an appearance, or if it will mostly be comprised of films universally despised.
Just to belabor the point - I made a thread a long time ago, What was the movie that made you love movies?, this list is the exact opposite. More like the movie that disappointed you so much it was like a kick in the pants. Thats not good. :nope:
I want to thank Camo for offering to "be there" if I need it, this is my first countdown, and I know I can count on him to point out any errors. ;)
Please PM me your 25 Worst Films Youve Ever Seen list. Films will receive one to twenty-five points, depending on its place on each MoFo's numbered ballot. The 100 listed will be the films with the most point totals. #1 means the WORST film youve ever seen. Ties are broken by which film appear on more ballots. Please do not publicly reveal all of your personal choices until the entire list has been presented. ill list the top 100, and the countdown will be Edit in - since we want to wait till the 50s List is done first, Ill wait on announcing a deadline. When I do the reveal I will list 2 a day, which I guess is the standard pace.
LETS HAVE FUN!!! :)

Without thinking about this too hard, there's already a dozen movies I definitely have to put on my list. I don't think I'll be rewatching any of these to make sure their ranking is correct. I'm just going to go with my gut on this haha.

Why only 25?
I realize this is a list with very broad parameters, but it seems strange to me to set such a low number before knowing what sort of results you're going to get.

I think it'll be fine, especially since this will probably be over before that one really starts in earnest (if it's still a thing).
My short list already has 40+ movies on it, and I keep thinking of more. I know I'm forgetting some really important ones. The hardest part is going to be deciding which of these are actually the worst 25.

So the countdown is only 25 movies instead of 100?
I'm disappointed by this. It would have been more fun if there wasn't an actual countdown, but people simply listed 25 movies they thought were the absolute worst, in order. Now we have to wait two months in total boredom.

Just list up to 100, you dont have to go to 100. If you wanted just your top 25 could be your submission.
Think everybody means you send your top 25 like normal but you do a Countdown of 100 movies instead of 25. Don't think they mean that we send top 100 lists.
So is the first one on the list still supposed to be the worst of the worst? That's the tough bit right there. I have no problem listing more.

Here are some lines straight from rauld's 50s countdown to help clear up any confusion:
Submit a list of films from the 50s era, ranked from 1-25 to me through private message.
Number one on your list will be worth 25, number 2 will be worth 24, etc. your number 25 film will be worth 1 point. So we send you our picks for worst movies. You put all those movies in order based on how many points they earned across all of our lists, then reveal the 100 movies that earned the most points.

No youre only supposed to list 25, #1 being the worst. Ill compile 100 from everyones lists.
Forget it. You're doing the choosing anyway, that number one spot doesn't really matter. Just know I hate all of them. Every single one with a fiery, boiling passion. That's what really matters.
This is going to be hard. Most of the genuinely bad movies i've seen i saw as a kid and don't remember them that well, overall i try to avoid them. So there'll be some that technically aren't bad but i just hate anyway.
CosmicRunaway
08-23-16, 08:24 PM
What I have listed as my worst 5 are movies that I absolutely despise. Just mentioning any of those names is enough to incite rage within me.
The other 20 are sort of irrelevant in comparison to those 5. And after #10 or so, the rest are sort of arbitrary (or at least they are right now). Usually if I don't like a movie that's really the end of the story because I don't put in the energy to actively hate it. A movie has to be absolutely terrible in order to really be memorable, and luckily I haven't come across too many of those yet.
Sent mine. This is the sort of list i really don't want to overthink and i have no intention of seeking out bad movies so i just did it quickly. Didn't end up with that many controversial choices, think i've seen enough genuinely bad movies to give most of the technically fine movies that i hate a break.

*pulls out calculator* Let's be generous and say we have a 40s Countdown and no one participating has ever seen a 40s movie.
365 days a year / 2 = 182.5
Let's be even more generous and say every 40s movie is 2 hours long.
25 movies x 2 hours = 50 hours.
182.5 days a year x 24 hours = 4380 hours to see a minimum of 25 movies.
50 / 4380 = We only need 0.01 of that time.

I believe we can all get along and come up with a working plan for Countdowns. MoFo is the nicest board on the internet! I've seen some really bad stuff, so be grateful MoFo exist! Even though we might have some disagreements, we're all still one big family here:)
We have done in the past, 2 big official MoFo Top 100 Countdowns. So we could continue with that plan, plus do bonus countdowns during the interim.
When the 50s Countdown is over and people are working on watching movies for whatever official countdown comes next...that is the time to run some fast & fun countdowns that don't involve watching movies and taking months to complete. Say a couple weeks for everyone to get in a list and then do the countdown quicker.

I was disapponted enough for the both of us. The original audience to Star Wars, like myself, realized with Episode I that Lucas was now making a kids movie first, and anything resembling a War second.

Nobody was hating on it. Only two people in the thread mentioned it. Ned who asked if people here hate it and TONGO who was correcting his spelling of the title. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I don't hate Catwoman actually, although the more I think about it, the more I realise how many things they fvcked up. I didn't mind it too much when I first saw it, though.
The Happening was bloody creepy to begin with. But Wahlberg talking to a plant  that's just a level of idiocy I didn't think was even possible.
Gigli was absolutely horrific though, and being LGBT, I utterly despised their representation of the most clichéd lesbian they could think of  Chasing Amy had that problem as well, but at least the rest of it was decent. This was just utter bollocks.
Lesbian until you meet the right man to "cure" you?

I think the range of movies will be massive with a list like this. A great film as voted by the masses gives a good reputation, but the other way around make most people not want to see it. i think there will be many different films on this list. One might put, say, Avengers Age of Ultron on their list because they hate, while others will go for the obvious picks like Meet the Spartans.
But anyways, we'll see... Maybe Tongo can give an update on this once we have a lot of lists in.

That went over like when Letterman hosted the Oscars ;) I adored and set my VCR to record Late Night With David Letterman, when he was on NBC after Carsons Tonight Show, when I was in high school. His whole show was more an "in joke".
My friends had me watch a cartoon they said was hilarious - Cartoon Networks Space Ghost. I watch it, and they had rewrote the dialogue and reused the old cartoon images to mimic David Lettermans NBC Late Night show?! Awesome!!!

Yeah Ep 2 is definitely the worst of them.
"I don't like sand, it's course and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere. Unlike you. You're everything soft and smooth"
:napoleon:
Plus, turning absolutely everything into a cartoon. CGI 3PO and suddenly R2 has rocket boosters just so they can throw the two characters into a pointless slapstick adventure in the droid factory.
That sequence with them goes nowhere and has no reason to exist apart from having 3PO swap heads with a battle droid so he can say a couple stupid lines during the Battle Of Geonosis.

NedStark09

Episode 2 was the worst one but in a way most blame Hayden but Natalie Portman didnt hit the ball out of the park in their scenes either. Its easy too blame the new actor then an actress who should be able too do any scene. Natalie is hit or miss really. Ewan was the saving Grace of episode 2. Most fans hated 2 because of the Yoda duel where he is flying all over the place.

I gave Episode II a chance. Though it wasnt as an affront to the senses like the worst parts of Ep 1, it didnt have the high points either. Really was boring and flat. I never saw Episode III.

I even revisited all three prequels last year and, while I'm hard-pressed to say I liked them, they're hardly the worst movies I ever saw and wouldn't make a worst 100 (though it's not for lack of trying on Episode II's part).
ursaguy
09-01-16, 09:22 PM
I also don't think the prequels are that bad, or bad at all. Episode II is the most flawed, but Episode I is a decent sci-fi flick if you separate it from the mythos and I will always believe that Episode III is a better trilogy ender than Return of the Jedi was. Ewan McGregor's performance is too good for anything that made my 25 list.

Oh of course, but Episode I has the capacity to floor my taste so hard I physically writhed in my seat. Jar Jar, that land speeder race, the end scene with young Vader.....truly Harry Potter exuded more authenticity, and I had regarded Star Wars in a higher category than that.

Bullet Proof Monk , The Spy Next Door, In The Land OF Women, Kangaroo Jack, Little Nicky, The Brothers Grimm, The Love Guru, Star Trek Nemesis.
I struggled a bit too. There's some films that are technically fine but i despise them for whatever reason, kinda wanted to have more genuinely bad films than those types. Quite a few on my list i haven't seen in about 10 years.

Boo!:)
Apologies, my bad - cat got on the keyboard and I've only just noticed ... I meant to suggest The Sound Of Music but he inadvertently typed Titanic and then hit the 'enter' key :(
I have suitably chastised him by cutting up a whole chicken breast for him rather than the half he is normally allowed so he won't even be able to jump on my lap let alone reach the keyboard for a while now :)

That was my thought. You gotta have the sorta people who're dedicated to crap. The sorta people who would watch a Neil Breen movie and love it.

I ain't watching any bad movies to see just how bad they are! I'm just looking to hear what others call a bad movie?
The stupidest movie I ever seen was The Big Blue (1988)

These are a few extremely bad movies that immediately came to mind:
The Twelve Chairs (1970) - I didn't think Mel Brooks could make a movie this bad.
Zardoz (1974) - Even Sean Connery made bad movies, and this was his worst.
KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park (1978) - This might have been a TV Movie?
Modern Problems (1981) - Chevy Chase's worst movie
Wholly Moses (1980) - Dudley Moore's worst movie
Flesh + Blood (1985) - I only watched this because I liked Rutger Hauer in Blade Runner, but it was a terrible movie.
And some terrible sequels:
Jaws 3-D (1983)
Jaws: The Revenge (aka Jaws 4) (1987)
Supeman III (1983)
Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987)

If you liked those two, then maybe we should try this from a different angle. Here are a few movies that most people love, but I hated:
The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)
Pink Floyd The Wall (1982)
Pulp Fiction (1994)
Inglourious Basterds (2009)
Black Swan (2010)

You can also try searching IMDB and/or Wikipedia pages for movies. If you search by year, you can read the list of all the movies that were released each year. That might spark some memories too.

Hi Capt. I think you're the one who recommended Zardoz to me a while back. It wasn't completely terrible the first time I watched it, but it gets worse if you watch it again.

If I recommended it (I'm sorry)... it was probably like "If you want to see a bare-chested Connery in something then check Zardoz out!" ;)
But gosh, what an awful movie. They even tried to have the acid-trip sequence halfway thru (trying to be like 2001) which wouldn't have been too bad, except that the whole movie was a weird acid-trip sequence.
I hadn't remembered correctly, I thought the big reveal (the book) came at the end, but it came 3/4 of the way through... before getting even more weird. One good thing I'll say about it is I really struggled to keep my eyes open after the first 45 minutes - since I have sleep issues it takes a really powerfully bad movie to put me to sleep in the chair!

Oh wow, I just checked IMDB and Zardoz has a low rating 5.8...That's pretty darn low! I guess it lost it's cult status.

I think we were discussing Sean Connery when you recommended it. You probably warned me that it was bad, but I didn't think Sean Connery could make such a bad movie, so I probably just gave it a chance. But at least now, because of this list, I finally have a reason for having watched it.

5.8 isn't low enough for that movie. It should be much lower.
I think IMDB has a list of their worst movies based on the ratings. You might want to look through that list too.

It's funny about Sean Connery...supposedly he passed on playing Gandalf in The Lord of the Rings films because he "didn't understand the script." But he understood Zardoz? Okay, Sean. :)

My understanding with Connery doing Zardoz is that he just wanted to do something as far removed from James Bond as possible, and Zardoz is most definitely that.

I think its more about keeping up with the names which are endless in LOTR and Connery was a bit older when was asked too do rings do remember.
Well since Im still here, and nobody jumped up to take over as Host, I guess Im the guy. :)

I saw it on opening night. It debuted on Christmas Day in the states. I had to see it ASAP there was no hesitation. I was disappointed, but my expectations were thru the roof. Its not a bad movie on its own.
Yeah, it is nowhere near as good as the first two and it has some major problems but i think it is a genuinely good movie on its own.
I remember reading a blog post where a guy was arguing Al Pacinos best portrayal of Michael was in Part III. I don't agree with him, II>I>III Michael portrayal wise IMO, but he made some pretty convincing arguments for how it is an underlooked film.

IMO ;) - Pacino was an actor in Part I & II, and Part III he was playing Pacino. Theres was like only one degree of seperation between his Michael Corleone, and his role in Scent Of A Woman, or even Carlitos Way if you want to get down to it.
LONG ago, Siskel & Ebert did a frank evaluation of Sidney Poitier one time, how he is now playing Sidney Poitier in all his films, and then they both said almost together "...but I like it/him.". Same pretty much goes for Pacino or Deniro now too. Even though he acted better as Michael in 1 & 2, he was more enjoyable in 3.

He's just admitted that he only made Godfather III because he was in financial ruin and needed to pay off some debts.

Yeah, I was definitely aware of that. Godfather III is like a Star Wars prequel in that I don't think it's particularly good (to paraphrase the line I used earlier this year, it's the shortest in the series but feels like the longest) but I'd still give it a 2.5 for the stuff it gets right despite apparently being mercenary in origin.
