I am not sure there has been a Music Hall Of Fame. I need something to do music wise until the Tournament starts in January so I am going too do a country Music Hall Of Fame. I have 150 Slots in this hall ready. I will do 10 Songs In The Hall Per week.
I gladly take any nominations but would like all Nominations in by October 1.
My First Three Songs In The Country Hall Of Fame.
1 Folsom Prison Blues----Johnny Cash
https://youtu.be/N5Ts4M3irWM
Folsom Prison Blues was the title song of Johnny Cash Folsom Prison Blues Record he record live at folsom prison. Johnny later on did San Quentin and it too was live. But Folsom Prison was one of Johnny Cash most beloved songs and was released many times on Johnny Cash great hits recordings.
2 Sixteen Tons----Tennessee Ernie Ford
https://youtu.be/k6wCzeNk1kw
Tennessee Ernie Ford was not a country singer starting of he was an announcer but for some reason he tried his voice gift at singing and he released sixteen tons which would be his great single most famous song.
3 The Only Hell My Momma Ever Raised----Johnny Paycheck
https://youtu.be/JMFHPpXSq84
Johnny Paycheck was a rebel singer much like Waylon, Willie and David Allen Coe. The 50s and 60s more or less paved way for rebel singers. Johnny best known song is certain too reach the hall here but this was one of his best songs.

4 If Heaven Aint A Lot Like Dixie
https://youtu.be/ygZxqVcikRU
This was one of Hank Williams Jr First songs too hit big that was not him at the time trying too copy sing like Hank Williams senior like his mother wanted.
During this time Hank nearly died in a rock climbing accident. I recommend seeing the TV Movie about Hank Jr. Richard Thomas of The Waltons plays Hank.

5 Kawliga---Charlie Pride.
https://youtu.be/QYIkSbIgO6g
I do believe this was originally a Hank Williams Senior song but when Charlie sung this song I am sure even ole hank was certain this song was meant for him. Allot of people for years did not know Charlie Pride was a black man. When he sung for Chet Adkins they only heard his voice. But that's old news for once Charlie was established he became one of the most beloved singers with other hits. Not that their was a difference that Charlie was black or white man. My point kinda was the times it must of been hard for a black singer too get the spot light. In those days Country was mostly filled with white singers.

6 Streets Of Bakersfield----Dwight Yoakam and Buck Owens.
https://youtu.be/mB7oUI32E1Y
This song was in the grand time when country music videos were popular. Dwight and Buck became friends and Dwight even was at Buck Owens funeral. Buck Owens released the original song but this was my best memory of the song. Owens was on the long running Music Variety show called Hee-Haw . He co hosted many years with Roy Clark.

7 Mama Tried----Merle Haggard
https://youtu.be/UKuc4nfJByc
This will be 1 of 4 Songs sung by Merle to enter the hall of fame. I welcome comments on songs people like but this one is one of my favorite Haggard tunes.
Merle was doing time in prison and Johnny Cash happened too hear some of his work and helped him get a release and on his feet.

8 Some Broken Hearts Never Mind----Don Williams.
https://youtu.be/RqjDvEC1uVw
Williams was one of those solid popular country singers in the 70s and 80s who was famous because the unique sound of his voice made you feel his music.
NedStark09
08-22-16, 04:01 PM
9 Big Iron-----Marty Robbins
https://youtu.be/iGmUsJvRv7U
Marty Robbins had a long career and he has 2 songs in the Hall of fame some may say only two but only have so much space. Robbins was a very famous singer singing from 50s style much like Elvis too Western ballad singer. Marty raced in race cars and was one of the most beloved singers.
Tomarrow I will be posting my 10 th song and will not be posting anymore Songs in the hall till next sunday. So if anyone has any requests please get them in.
NedStark09

10 White Lightning---George Jones
https://youtu.be/WE5pM1HXxlI
This is one of 4 George Jones Songs that will be in the hall. White Lightning was one of George first big hits but personally maybe not his best song but still worthy too be in the hall at 10th place.
NedStark09
08-24-16, 05:08 PM
Its kinda a slow day so decided would post 2 New Hall Of Fame Songs Today then the rest Starting on Sunday.
11Your Cheating Heart--- Hank Williams Senior.
https://youtu.be/ntZHU-Ue6ds
Hank Has two more solo songs in the hall and one more special duet one. Hank was a favorite singer my father liked too play. My dad could play a Guitar pretty well and Hank was sung allot at home and with my fathers friends. Hank too me alway sounded sad with his music.
NedStark09
08-24-16, 06:58 PM
12 Ruby----Kenny Rogers
https://youtu.be/aNQvbjJeUrk
Kenny Rogers One Of The Most Popular Country Singers but I always thought it was amazing that Kenny sound was really Pop more then country at times but his music and songs were so different from the other. One song could be a love song the other could be a Ballad about a Card Player on his last train ride.

NedStark09
08-27-16, 03:28 AM
13 North To Alaska----Johnny Horton
https://youtu.be/GXhWVmaxG8c
Johnny Had an interesting ballad voice really and North To Alaska was his biggest hit for it was the main opening title song too the only John Wayne comedy type western.
NedStark09
08-28-16, 01:56 AM
14 Im So Lonesome I Could Cry----Hank Williams Senior
https://youtu.be/4WXYjm74WFI
A Lot of Hanks song seems almost sad and seem almost haunting wen you hear an old hank song which seemed too all be about women trouble.
15 Bobby Bare----Detroit City
https://youtu.be/6bxl59UXuUM
Bobby Bare one of the still living country gems he had one of the best iconic voices of any singer. Bare is a living legend and its an honor too add him too the hall.

There are some great songs in this list, but since you said there will only be 150 entries, there are a few songs here that I think are questionable for the HoF.
1 Folsom Prison Blues----Johnny Cash - Johnny Cash definitely deserves to have several songs in the HoF, and while I can see why this is here, I think he has other songs that are more deserving.
2 Sixteen Tons----Tennessee Ernie Ford - Definitely YES!
3 The Only Hell My Momma Ever Raised----Johnny Paycheck - Good song, but IMO, it's not HoF worthy.
4 If Heaven Ain't A Lot Like Dixie - Hank Williams Jr. - Another good song, but IMO, Hank Jr. has much better songs.
5 Kawliga---Charlie Pride - Great song, but with only 150 entries, I'm not sure it belongs in the HoF.
6 Streets Of Bakersfield----Dwight Yoakam and Buck Owens - I'm not a big fan of either of these singers, but this is a great song. However, it's probably not a HoF caliber song.
7 Mama Tried----Merle Haggard - Definitely YES!
8 Some Broken Hearts Never Mind----Don Williams - I love Don Williams' voice, and it's very hard to decide which of his songs should be in the HoF, but this is one of his best. Definitely YES!
9 Big Iron-----Marty Robbins - Definitely YES!
10 White Lightning---George Jones - A great song, but only a "maybe" for the HoF.
11 Your Cheating Heart--- Hank Williams Senior - Definitely YES!
12 Ruby----Kenny Rogers - Another singer with so many great songs that it's hard to narrow it down to only a few, but this is a good choice.
13 North To Alaska----Johnny Horton - Definitely YES!
14 I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry----Hank Williams Senior - Definitely YES!
15 Bobby Bare----Detroit City - With only 150 entries, this is only a "maybe" for the HoF.

16 King Of The Road----Roger Miller

17 Big City----Merle Haggard.

NedStark09
08-29-16, 02:45 PM
18 On The Road Again----Willie Nelson.
https://youtu.be/dBN86y30Ufc
Willie was once a clean cut looking Nashville Type he was a song writer and wrote Patsy Cline's greatest hit. He left Nashville and ended becoming who he was in texas as we know him today. On The Road Again was one of Willie best signature songs.
NedStark09
08-30-16, 08:48 AM
19 Hank Williams Jr----Hand Me Down.
https://youtu.be/-uohfEaeS2w
This is probably not a well known song since many maybe not have ever listen too the Tape or CD of the 3 Hanks Alblum.
I happened to have owned the Tape until it no longer worked. This was one of Hank Jr Best songs i ever heard him sing.
NedStark09
08-30-16, 05:10 PM
20 Coal Miners Daughter-----Loretta Lynn.
https://youtu.be/f9eHp7JJgq8
Lynn was Born In Kentucky and married at a young age. Her husaband Dew liked her singing and decided to help her get on radio and the Opry.
Dew Kinda Snuck her on the Opry but that night Tubb was on and liked her sigining. Lynn did allot of song and was very popular. Cole Miners Daughter was her biggest single hit. Later on she would have hits with Conway Twitty when they did duet songs.

Some big voices on those last four there Ned. I'm not a massive fan of Hank jnr but I think his daughter Holly is a fabulous singer songwriter.
NedStark09
08-31-16, 02:51 PM
21 Jimmy Dean----Big John
https://youtu.be/KnnHprUGKF0
Before Jimmy Dean became known for his famous pork sausage brand he was a country singer who had a couple hits. BIg John is still played today on old country music channels. Too me John Song sound like some homage too the Paul Bunyan character but was a minor.
NedStark09
09-01-16, 12:01 PM
22 Elvira----The Oak Ridge Boys.
https://youtu.be/nGKatCAQed0
For many years Oak Ridge was the group who always lost too the Statler Brothers every award season but in my opinion i always more or less gravitated towards the Boys simply because their sound and music was more my style. Like the Statler Brothers fine but i just liked The Boys and Elvira was their biggest hit.
NedStark09
09-01-16, 12:09 PM
My last song i will post in the hall until Saturday Night.
23 I Walk The Line----Johnny Cash.
https://youtu.be/Lq0fUa0vW_E
I do believe this was Johnny Cash First Hit as a performer. Maybe it was Daddy Sang base. I am really not sure what was his first hit but I Walk The Line was Cash biggest hit for some time and maybe even his trademark song.

16 King Of The Road----Roger Miller - This is probably Roger Miller's best song, and it definitely deserves a spot in this HoF.
17 Big City----Merle Haggard - This is one of many great songs by one of country music's legends. It's hard to pick which of his songs belong in this HoF, but this is definitely a good choice.
18 On The Road Again----Willie Nelson - While this song probably deserves to be in this HoF, it's not one of my personal favorite songs. (My favorite Willie Nelson song is "My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys".)
19 Hank Williams Jr----Hand Me Down - This is a very good song, but I think HoF songs should be better known songs than this one. Maybe something like "Family Tradition" from Hank Jr. would be a better choice?
20 Coal Miners Daughter-----Loretta Lynn - This one is a classic song, and it definitely deserves a spot in this HoF.
21 Jimmy Dean----Big John - Great song from the Sausage King, but I'm not sure that it deserves a spot in a HoF that only has 150 songs.
22 Elvira----The Oak Ridge Boys - This is possibly The Oak Ridge Boys best song, but it's a borderline HoF song for me because it's too much of a pop crossover for a Country Music HoF. (But I love Richard Sterban's deep voice. )
23 I Walk The Line----Johnny Cash - This is probably my favorite Johnny Cash song, and it definitely deserves to be in this HoF. (BTW, I think Johnny Cash's first hit was "Cry! Cry! Cry!", back when he was on Sun Records, but "I Walk the Line" was his first #1 hit.)

24 I Never Picked Cotton----Roy Clark.
https://youtu.be/HNl_Fh0KEMY
Roy was more well known for his role as the duo personality on Hee Haw with Buck Owens. Roy had a few hits and some may like those more but i personally always liked this song and i wanna try to get atleast one song for each legend and Roy Clark s talent was way too big not too be added.
Im Gonna Post 26 Sunday and not post the rest till Thursday.

09-03-16, 04:08 AM
25 Bob Wills Is Still The King----Waylon Jennings.
https://youtu.be/55DO5sNGZ_s
This Is One Of Two Solo Waylon Songs Thats in the hall of fame the other two are with Willie which is 2 Songs Of Willie Nelsons 4 Songs as well.
Bob Wills song is probably the one i remember the best. Waylons sound and style was all his own and I think he left this world far too soon. Especially since he defeated so many demons thats plagued allot of singers
NedStark09
09-05-16, 02:20 PM
26 Walking The Floor Over You----Ernest Tubb.
https://youtu.be/A-0KHkf5V98
I honestly dont know much about Ernest Tubb. I certainly know his song is a classic opry song and Tubb was kinda the father of the opry. It seems fitting too have Tubb, Hank Williams and And early great legends in a country music hall of fame thread.
NedStark09
09-07-16, 10:19 PM
27 The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia----Reba McEntire.
https://youtu.be/mnwMptUwiNA
I know its a it early for one of her songs but I think reba is one of the best country female singers ever.
This song is one of her 3 songs in the hall and its her best one.
NedStark09
09-07-16, 11:21 PM
28 Charlie Rich--- Behind Closed Doors
https://youtu.be/iyoPaVxMyWY
All I know is my parents would never let me hear the end if made something like this with Charlie Rich or a Jim Reeves songs in it somewhere.
This was his biggest hit for Rich. Charlie seemed more like a Ronnie Milsap type of singer then country traditonal wise but love a good piano song and like both Milsap and Rich.
NedStark09
09-08-16, 11:50 AM
29 Coka Cola Cowboy-----Mel Tillis
https://youtu.be/xdVLEo3JyWc
Mel is one of those amazing singers that has a great singing sound but its also more amazing that Mel has a very bad stutter. Which allot of people do but when he sings its gone.
NedStark09
09-09-16, 08:55 AM
30 Coat On Many Colors----Dolly Parton.
https://youtu.be/c1zJzr-kWsI
Im sure many would say why this song as Dollys first song. Quite personally I think its Dolly best song for I like those type of country songs. Its my favorite song that she does other then Island In The Stream with Kenny Rodgers and Jolene.
NedStark09
09-09-16, 09:08 AM
31 He Stopped Loving Her Today---George Jones.
https://youtu.be/ubKUP8c0FHE
Jones is one of the best singer in country music that ever was. Some loved Hank Williams senior or a Ray Price, and so on but I always liked singers like George Jones and Merle Haggard.
This was probably one of his best early hits. George was not perfect for everyone knows he had drinking issues his whole life. I think his music was maybe theropy for George during rocky times.
NedStark09
09-09-16, 09:04 PM
32 John Conlee-----Rose Colored Glasses
https://youtu.be/AE6X4NVSLgM
This song is one of the most played classic country songs still played today on classic country radio stations. Its most requested song on our local classic second was A Boy Named Sue and 3rd was Baby Got Her Blue Jeans On.
This is Conlee signature song and he still sings for the Opry Rose Colored Glasses

The Carter Family - Can the Circle Be Unbroken
Buck Owens - Act Naturally
Waylon Jennings - Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way
Bill Monroe - Blue Moon of Kentucky
Bob Wills - Take Me Back to Tulsa/Faded Love/San Antonio Rose
Lefty Frizzell - If You Got the Money
Willie Nelson - Whiskey River/Red Headed Stranger
Patsy Cline - Crazy/Walking After Midnight
Kris Kristofferson - Sunday Morning Coming Down
Waylon Jennings & Willie Nelson - Luckenbach, Texas
David Allan Coe - The Ride/You Never Even Called Me By Name
Faron Young - Hello Walls
Johnny Cash & June Carter - Jackson
Alan Jackson - Midnight in Montgomery
George Strait - Unwound/All My Ex's Live in Texas
Marty Robbins - El Paso

That's pretty cool.
If you don't mind me asking, is your father still living? I'd love to hear what he had to say about the experience, with you transcribing here for us, of course. :D
NedStark09
09-09-16, 11:30 PM
No My dad passed on in 2008. My dad played guitar until he couldnt. His favorite singer and songs too do were Hank Williams and Ray Price.

33 John Denver-----Country Roads
https://youtu.be/1vrEljMfXYo
I know respectively John has this 70s almost mello rock typical 70s sound too his music but respectively country music fans adopted John and his style of music was beloved especially this song. As its a typical Wv traveling song in the car.
NedStark09
09-09-16, 11:42 PM
34 Faron Young---Hello Walls
https://youtu.be/HMSWAUAKJn0
This will be my last song until Monday added for it give time for people who normally comment too catch up on the songs entered.
Faron Young best song was Hello Walls. This song is kinda sad for me because allot of singers who pass their songs tend too have more feeling if liked those singers.

24 I Never Picked Cotton----Roy Clark - Roy Clark definitely deserves a spot in this HoF, but this is probably not the right song. My personal favorite of his songs is "Yesterday When I Was Young", but he was also an amazing guitar player.
Some of you may be too young to remember this, but just check out his guest appearance on the TV show "The Odd Couple":
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFfB2JQmTCs
25 Bob Wills Is Still The King----Waylon Jennings - Waylon Jennings is another singer who clearly belongs in this HoF, and this song is a good choice, but with so many great songs, I'm not sure that it's the song that I would choose for him. It's interesting that you "think he left this world far too soon". Did you know that he was supposed to be on the plane that crashed killing Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and "The Big Bopper"? He gave up his seat to "The Big Bopper", who was sick at the time.
26 Walking The Floor Over You----Ernest Tubb - Great singer, and great song. Good choice for this HoF.
27 The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia----Reba McEntire - I love Reba McEntire, and she definitely deserves to be in this HoF, but this is not even close to the song that I would pick for her. Maybe “The Greatest Man I Never Knew”, or "Somebody Should Leave", or “Whoever’s in New England” would be better choices.
28 Charlie Rich - Behind Closed Doors - Another great choice.
29 Coca Cola Cowboy-----Mel Tillis - This is a great song, but I'm not sure that it belongs in this HoF. With only 150 spots, I think there are more deserving songs.
30 Coat Of Many Colors----Dolly Parton - Dolly Parton definitely deserves a spot in this HoF, and this is a good song choice. I'm not sure that it's her best song, but it's a great song. However I probably would have picked "Jolene" instead.
31 He Stopped Loving Her Today---George Jones - I expected to see this song on the list eventually. It's been voted the #1 country song of all-time on several lists over the years. I would have been shocked to not see it make this HoF.
32 John Conlee-----Rose Colored Glasses - I love this song, but I'm not sure that it belongs in this HoF. There just aren't enough spots for every great song, and I just think there are better songs than this one for the HoF.
33 John Denver-----Country Roads - I know there are some people who think that John Denver is more of a folk singer than a country singer, but he definitely deserves a place in this HoF. I prefer some of his lesser known songs, like "Shanghai Breezes", "Don't Close Your Eyes Tonight", and "Dreamland Express", but this is a very deserving song.
34 Faron Young---Hello Walls - This is another great song that deserves to be in this HoF.

George Strait - Unwound/All My Ex's Live in Texas
Marty Robbins - El Paso
There are some great songs on this list too, but again, with only 150 spots in this HoF, they can't all be included.
These are the ones that I agree with:
Waylon Jennings - Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way
Bill Monroe - Blue Moon of Kentucky
Patsy Cline - Crazy/Walking After Midnight
Alan Jackson - Midnight in Montgomery
Marty Robbins - El Paso
George Strait - Unwound/All My Ex's Live in Texas (Although I might pick a different George Strait song.)
NedStark09
09-10-16, 04:11 AM
I'm thinking about. Calling this part one of country hall of fame and will do a part 2 which would include more strait Jackson and Travis. Part one will have around 140 songs while part two 110 with a total of 250 so ngs. I m giving 100 more slots in the hall.

What is your criteria for what you would include? I tried to make my recommendations be representative of country songs that aren't just good, but also important and influential. I'm sure fandom played more of a role in some of my selections, but I tried to go a little deeper than that with some of those. With more research, I'm sure that I would probably shuffle some of those around.

35 Always On My Mind---- Willie Nelson.
https://youtu.be/yoPYQ-FmQB4
This will be Willie Nelsons second song in the hall and in my opinion maybe his best song if i had all day too debate on it. Willie makes it hard to stick too so many songs and so doesnt Johnny Cash and it be easy too pick every hit song either made. I am gonna be fair as possible too many country singers and maybe a few will be slightly less famous or even maybe a one hit wonder.
Always On My Mind is no one hit wonder by any means Im just maybe answering questions of what qualfies as good songs.

36 Rocky Top-----The Osborne Brothers
https://youtu.be/77hneLgt33k
Ofcourse with anything country music your gonna dabble back too the roots of country before other influences. What is Blue Grass and some consider it a different Genre and too that let me just say too people in wv , kentucky and so on this is country music. Bill Monroe and Flatt and Scruggs paves miles into country but garantee you they are considered country. The Osborne Brothers is one of the best groups i ever heard. In more modern sound other then the Scaggs band.

37 Statler Brothers----Do You Remember These.

I like the Statler Brother fine they have good harmony but I still tended too prefer the Oakridge Boys when i was growing up but my mom liked the Statlers.

38 Bill Monroe----Blue Moon Of Kentucky

I guess everyone has a different criteria for choosing songs for the HoF, but there's no right or wrong way. My criteria is songs that are so good that they are considered signature songs for the singers, and are such classics that they've stood the test of time.
In many cases, they're not my favorite songs from these singers, or even my favorite singers, but they're the most recognized songs for the top artists.

This is a good example of a song that definitely belongs in the HoF, even though it's not one of my favorite songs. I love the song, but I'm not a big fan of Willie Nelson's voice, so I prefer Elvis Presley's version of this song, but there's no denying that Willie's version is one of his signature songs. There are many versions of this song, but it will always be remembered as "a Willie Nelson song".

This is a tough one, not only because it's bluegrass, but also because while The Osborne Brothers were the first to record the song, IMO, their version is far from the best version. The Lynn Anderson version is better, and the Charlie Daniels Band's version is probably the best.

37 Statler Brothers----Do You Remember These.
https://youtu.be/puGQsQux80k
I like the Statler Brother fine they have good harmony but I still tended too prefer the Oakridge Boys when i was growing up but my mom liked the Statlers.
"Do You Remember These" is one of my favorite Statler Brothers songs, but "Flowers on The Wall" is more deserving to be in this HoF.

38 Bill Monroe----Blue Moon Of Kentucky
https://youtu.be/JAVFpThoeb4
Dont know allot about Bill Monroe other then he was a great mandolin player and was an opry legend. This song was by way of request. Its a nice song no doubt.
Even though this song is bluegrass, it's still deserving of a place in this HoF. Bill Monroe was the King of Bluegrass, and "Blue Moon of Kentucky" is his signature song.

39 Patsy Cline---She's Got You.
https://youtu.be/UtkFmCY9IZ0
This is my first of 3 Cline songs to which this one I kinda liked the best so its why I chose it first over Crazy.
You can't have a Country Music Hall of Fame without including Patsy Cline, and "She's Got You" is one of her best songs. It may not be her signature song, but it won the last Country Music Song Tournament here on MoFo, and that's good enough for me.

40 Kenny Rogers---Love Will Turn You Around.
https://youtu.be/E_6dFjENafw
Kenny Rogers is another singer who definitely belongs in this HoF, but IMO, his signature songs are not necessarily his best songs. I'm not sure which song (or songs) would be the best of his to include in this HoF, but "Love Will Turn You Around" is certainly a good candidate.

43 Elvis----Burning Love
https://youtu.be/VL5d0leKh0o
Many people will say Elvis has no place in the country hall of fame but really was Johnny Cash so much differant then Elvis. They were both friends and both did very good gospal albums. Elvis was a lot better singer then given credit. If you look at how country is you can see Elvis Influences.
Burning Love Is One Of Two Elvis Songs in the Hall.

Just catching up. I like loads of your choices Ned. My mum and dad liked Charlie Rich too - their favourite was The Most Beautiful Girl in the World. I would've chosen Jolene for Dolly, that is if you're only having one Dolly song.
I'd be great to have a list edited into your first post so we can see your picks in one place :)
I'll probably pop in here every now and again with some songs I think should probably be part of something like this. Here's what I have now:
The Carter Family - Can the Circle Be Unbroken
Buck Owens - Act Naturally
Waylon Jennings - Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way
Bill Monroe - Blue Moon of Kentucky
Bob Wills - Take Me Back to Tulsa/Faded Love/San Antonio Rose
Lefty Frizzell - If You Got the Money
Willie Nelson - Whiskey River/Red Headed Stranger
Patsy Cline - Crazy/Walking After Midnight
Kris Kristofferson - Sunday Morning Coming Down
Waylon Jennings & Willie Nelson - Luckenbach, Texas
David Allan Coe - The Ride/You Never Even Called Me By Name
Faron Young - Hello Walls
Johnny Cash & June Carter - Jackson
Alan Jackson - Midnight in Montgomery
George Strait - Unwound/All My Ex's Live in Texas
Marty Robbins - El Paso
That's a great list JJ. I adore Jackson, it always makes me smile.

47 Yesterday , When I Was Young.---Roy Clark

49 El Paso

50 Kitty Wells----Honky Tonk Angels
https://youtu.be/E5Ikl-y_rZA
My dad was a big Wells fan even more so then Patsy Cline. I think he liked tradtional Opry Style Country to be honest. Kitty Wells is just about old sounded country as one can get I think.

51 Once A Day--- Connie Smith
https://youtu.be/CaUX08tJM80
Connie Smith is probably best known for this song but also she made news some many years later when she and Marty Stuart got Married. He was a bit younger then she was. They are still married and he is now president of the Opry.

52 Jolene----Dolly Parton

But Jolene seems to have been liked by many from her.

I know this is not his most famous song but my god was it one of the best cowboy songs ever recorded and his Yodeling was fantastic. Yes I am aware special songs need in hall of fame music but I can only try to put in the best songs i can. This 150 set is for classic old legends. My Part Two Will Have Newer Songs with those like Jackson, Gill and Strait.

43 Elvis----Burning Love - Elvis definitely belongs in the Country Music HoF. He was a country singer long before he became the King of Rock 'n Roll. I'm not sure that "Burning Love" is the right song though. I'd probably go with something like "That's All Right (Mama)", "Suspicious Minds", or "Kentucky Rain".
44 Lefty Frizzell.-----Saginaw Michigan - Great song, and definitely belongs in this HoF.
45 Freddie Fender---Before The Next Teardrop Falls - Great song, and it belongs in this HoF if there's enough room for it, but it would be one of my first few cuts if there are too many songs.
46 Lost Highway---Hank Williams - Great song, but I think Hank Sr. has more deserving songs for this HoF.
47 Yesterday, When I Was Young.---Roy Clark - I'm glad to see this song included in the HoF. It's always been one of my favorites.
48 Country Bumpkin---Cal Smith - Great song that deserves to be in this HoF.
49 Marty Robbins - El Paso - Another great song that belongs in this HoF.
50 Kitty Wells----Honky Tonk Angels - I can understand why this belongs in this HoF because it's a great classic song, but I've never been a big fan of Kitty Wells' voice.
51 Once A Day--- Connie Smith - This is another song that's never been a favorite of mine, but I can understand why it belongs in this HoF.
52 Jolene----Dolly Parton - Definitely YES!
53 Satin Sheets----Jeanne Pruett - Great song that belongs in this HoF.
54 Loretta Lynn---You Aint Women Enough To Take My Man - This is a great song for this HoF, and if there's enough room for one more of her songs, then you should also include "Don't Come Home A-Drinkin' (With Lovin' on Your Mind)"
55 Patsy Cline---Crazy - Definitely YES!
56 I Was Raised On Country Sunshine----Dottie West - Definitely YES!
57 Charlie Daniels---Long Haired Country Boy - Charlie Daniels belongs in this HoF, but this wouldn't be my choice for his song. "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" is the most obvious choice, but "Boogie Woogie Fiddle Country Blues" and his version of "Orange Blossom Special " really show off his musical talent.
58 Cattle Call---Eddie Arnold - I love Eddie Arnold, and "Cattle Call" is definitely a classic song, but I prefer his song "Make the World Go Away" over all of his other songs.
59 Jim Reeves----Four Walls - I love Jim Reeves' voice, and he definitely belongs in this HoF, but I'd probably choose "He'll Have To Go" instead of this song.
60 Ring Of Fire--- Johnny Cash - Definitely YES!

61 Okie From Muskogee---Merle Haggard - Merle Haggard's signature song, and one of his best songs. Definitely YES!
62 Charlie Pride---- Is Anybody Goin' to San Antone - Great song, but I'm on the fence if it belongs in this HoF. I think he has better songs than this. Maybe something like "She's Too Good To Be True" instead?
63 Tom T. Hall---- Old Dogs And Children and Watermelon Wine - Another great song, but I probably would have picked "I Love" for Tom T. Hall instead of this song.
64 Mel Tillis----Send Me Down To Tucson - Great choice. Mel Tillis is known for his stutter, but he has a great singing voice, and this is one of his best songs.
65 Waylon and Willie----Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys - You can't have a Country Music HoF without one or two Waylon and Willie songs.
66 Tammy and George-----Golden Ring - Another great choice. This is probably George Jones and Tammy Wynette's best duet.
67 Willie and Ray----Seven Spanish Angels - This isn't one of my favorite songs, but I can see why some people would want it in this HoF.
68 Kenny and Dolly---Islands In The Stream - Another great duet that belongs in this HoF.
69 Conway and Loretta---Louisiana Women Mississippi Man - This is probably the best song that Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn recorded together, and it's a great choice for this HoF.

72 Devil Women----Marty Robbins - I love Marty Robbins, but this isn't one of my favorites of his songs. I probably would have picked "A White Sport Coat", "My Woman, My Woman, My Wife", "The Hanging Tree" or "Singing the Blues" as his third song, but I can see why some people would want this song in this HoF.
73 My Name Is Jimmy Brown----Mac Wiseman - I'm not a fan of Mac Wiseman, so this wouldn't be my choice for a HoF song.
74 Wichita Lineman---Glen Campbell - One of my favorite Glen Campbell songs, and it belongs in this HoF. Great choice.
75 The Carter Family---Keep On The Sunny Side Of Life - Another song that's not one of my favorites, but I can see why other people might want it in this HoF.
76 Marie Laveau - Bobby Bare - I'm not a big Bobby Bare fan, but he belongs in this HoF. This song is a good choice, but I probably would have chosen "The Winner" instead. It didn't chart as high, but I think it's a better song.
77 Amanda-----Waylon Jennings - I prefer Don Williams version of this song (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wxIroqfrYBA), but this is a great version too.
78 Make The World Go Away---Eddie Arnold - This song probably would have been my first pick for this HoF. It's my "go to song" whenever I'm having a bad day.
79 The Ride----David Allen Coe - I'm not a big fan of David Allen Coe, but this song definitely belongs in this HoF.
80 Amos Moses----Jerry Reed - It's nice to see Jerry Reed get some recognition outside of his Smokey & the Bandit songs. This is a great song, but I might have chosen either the underrated "Age" or "The Man With The Golden Thumb".

81 Why Have You Left The One You Left Me For - Crystal Gayle - Crystal Gayle has a beautiful voice, and she belongs in this HoF, but I probably would have picked "Talking in Your Sleep" or "It's Like We Never Said Goodbye" instead of this song.
82 The Gambler---Kenny Rogers - While I agree that this song belongs in this HoF, I think it's overplayed, and I would probably choose a different Kenny Rogers song. Maybe one of his underrated songs, like "Through the Years", "Buy Me A Rose", "The Vows Go Unbroken" or "Twenty Years Ago".
83 Johnny Paycheck---Take This Job And Shove It - Another song that's not one of my favorites, but I can see why it belongs in this HoF. (Although it's a great Friday 5:00 PM song. :D)
84 Don Williams----I Believe In You - One of Don Williams best songs, and a great choice for this HoF.
85 Life Turned Her That Way----Little Jimmy Dickens - This is one of my all-time favorite songs, but I prefer the Ricky Van Shelton version (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4PWP80YfMT0).
86 Patsy Cline---Walkin' After Midnight - I love this song, and Patsy Cline definitely belongs in this HoF. Great choice.
87 That's The Way Love Goes----Merle Haggard - This is a great song, and one of my favorite Merle Haggard songs, but he has better songs for this HoF.
88 Old Hippie----Bellamy Brothers - I've never been a fan of Bellamy Brothers. They sound more pop than country to me.
89 Buck Owens----Act Naturally - This is one of Buck Owens best songs, and it a good choice for this HoF.
90 Willie Nelson---Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain - This is one of the few Willie Nelson songs that I like. Good choice.
91 Hank Williams Jr----Family Tradition - This is one of Hank Jr.'s best songs, and a great choice for this HoF.

So many years after his death Elvis can still make you feel his songs. Only a few can do this in music and their names are. Elvis, Cash and Orbison. All three were friends ironicly.

92 Johnny Cash--- One Piece At A Time - This is one of my favorite Johnny Cash songs because it's such a fun song, but you have to limit how many songs he has in this HoF, so I think he has more deserving songs for this HoF.
93 Did You Happen To See The Most Beautiful girl In The World. ---- Charlie Rich - Great song. It definitely belongs in this HoF.
94 Mel McDaniel---Baby Got Her Blue Jeans On - Great song, but maybe borderline for this HoF.
95 Kentucky Rain----Elvis - Like I said about Johnny Cash above, this is a great song, but Elvis has better songs for this HoF.
96 Chug A Lug----Roger Miller - A fun song, but maybe not his best. In addition to "King of the Road", I probably would have chosen either "Dang Me" or "Little Green Apples" from Roger Miller for this HoF.
97 Eddie Rabbit---- Driving My Life Away - Great song, and probably his signature song, so it's a great choice for this HoF.
98 Good Hearted Women----Waylon and Willie - Any of the classic Waylon and Willie songs are great choices for this HoF.
99 Roseanne Cash----Seven Year Ache - This is a pretty good song, but IMO, it's not HoF worthy.
100 Ray Stevens---- I Aint Sitting Up With Dead No More - I like Ray Stevens, but I don't think I'd put this song in this HoF. Maybe "The Streak" for him.

101 Coward Of The County---Kenny Rogers - This song probably belongs in this HoF, but it's a bit too overplayed IMO.
102 By The Time I Get To Phoenix--- Glen Campbell - Great song. Definitely belongs in this HoF
103 I Love----Tom T. Hall - Great song. Definitely belongs in this HoF
104 Welcome To My World---- Jim Reeves - Great song. Definitely belongs in this HoF
105 Y' all Come Back Saloon---The Oak Ridge Boys - Good song, but far from my favorite song from The Oak Ridge Boys. I'd probably choose either "Bobbie Sue", "American Made", or "Thank God for Kids" instead.
106 Tight Fittin Jeans---Conway Twitty - Good song that probably belongs in this HoF, but I probably would have chosen ”You Never Been This Far Before” or "I Don't Know a Thing About Love (The Moon Song)" instead.
107 Jeannie Seale ----Harper Valley PTA - Great song that belongs in this HoF, but the singer's name is Jeannie C. Riley.
108 Bill Anderson---Po' Folks - Good song, but not my favorite from Bill Anderson. I would have chosen "Still" instead.
109 Hank Jr---All My Rowdy Friends Have Settled Down - This wouldn't be my choice of a Hank Jr. song for this HoF. Maybe "All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight", "A Country Boy Can Survive", or "I'm for Love" instead.
110 That Old Wheel--- Cash and Hank Jr - Good song, but while each of these artists belongs in this HoF, I'm not sure that this song does.
111 Choices----George Jones - This is a very good song, but George Jones has better songs for this HoF. Maybe "The Grand Tour" or "Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes" instead.
112 White Sport Coat and Pink Carnation----Marty Robbins - Great song. Definitely belongs in this HoF
113 Rainy Day Women----Waylon Jennings - I would have chosen a different song for Waylon Jennings for this HoF. Maybe "Just to Satisfy You", "Wrong", or "Good Ol’ Boys" ("The Dukes Of Hazzard" theme song).

I know that this song is more well known by Cash and Burl Ive's and Marty Robbins did this song before that. I just liked this song done with a guitar and you have melody singers but mostly you have Roy Clarks talent as a guitar player.

114 Mel McDaniel---Louisiana Saturday Night - Great song. One of Mel McDaniel's best.
115 Eddie Rabbitt and Crystal Gayle---Just You And I - One of the most romantic songs ever. These two sound wonderful together.
(Note: The video was blocked on copyright grounds, but this link (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WZ8NWiG3h4Y) works.)
116 It Must Be Love---Don Williams - This is one of my favorite Don Williams songs. I love his voice.
117 The Devil Went Down To Georgia-----Charlie Daniels Band - Charlie Daniels is possibly the best fiddle player ever. This is definitely his best song.
118 Lady----Kenny Rogers - This is a classic song, and both Kenny Rogers and Lionel Richie's versions are amazing.
119 Glen Campbell---Rhinestone Cowboy. - This is a great classic song from Glen Campbell. Great choice.
120 Ghost Riders In The Sky----Roy Clark - I think Johnny Cash has the best voice for this song, but as an instrumental, nobody does this better than Roy Clark.
121 Silver and Gold----Burl Ives - This is a great song, but I don't consider it a country song. It might belong in a Christmas Music HoF, but probably not in a Country Music HoF.
122 D I V O R C E---Tammy Wynette - This is one of her best songs, and it's such a sad song, but she has a beautiful voice. It definitely belongs in this HoF.
123 White Christmas---Bing Crosby - Pretty much the same as the Burl Ives song above. This is a great song, but I don't consider it a country song. It might belong in a Christmas Music HoF, but probably not in a Country Music HoF.
124 Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer---Gene Autry - This song also would fit better into a Christmas Music HoF, but at least it's a country version of the song. :)
125 Dan Seals----Bop - I love Dan Seals, and this is a good song, but it isn't one of my favorites of his songs. I prefer songs like "One Friend", "They Rage On", Addicted", "Everything That Glitters", and my favorite of his songs, "God Must Be A Cowboy At Heart".
126 George Jones--- Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes - This is what classic country music is all about. Great choice.
127 Hank Jr--- A Country Boy Can Survive - This is one of Hank Jr. best songs. Great choice.
128 David Allan Coe--- You Never Evan Called Me By My Name - This isn't one of my favorite songs, but I love the last verse.
129 Johnny Paycheck---- Don't Take Her She's All I Got - This isn't my favorite version of this song, but it's probably the most well known version. I prefer Conway Twitty's version over this version.
130 Thome Pace----Maybe - I haven't heard this song in many years. It's a nice song, but it doesn't really belong in this HoF.
