I was just wondering are there any alpinists here per chance? Has anyone even been to Everest? My personal ambition is to mount Triglav, a 2864m high peak in the Alpes.

There are 4 ways to climb: the easiest and almost touristic is by summer from the south side. Even so, you come to an abysse with a wall on the left and the abysse on the right. People tight themselves with ropes, so if one should fall, the others hold him. 2nd is by summer from the north, which is pure alpinism already: there's a 800m high almost vertical cliff to climb. Third, by winter from the north, that's for nutters already. you have to be mentally balanced, insanely fit. Fourth, by winter from the south (that's what I'm planning in about 1000 years) you have to put on skies, because you'd otherwise fall into 10 feet deep snow, walk like that for 15 miles, and climb to the top using various alpinistic skills and tools. Easy.

My dad has climbed Ben Nevis the highest mountain in Scotland and Britain. It took him 6 or 7 hours i think. I have no experiences with the Alps and have not climbed Mount Everest yet haha

I'm literally right in the middle of reading Into Thin Air, which makes me want to talk you out of this immediately.

Even I've done Ben Nevis - that's more like a bloody long walk than a climb :D
I did Mont Blanc too but that was by funicular railway and cable car
