View Full Version : Recomending a mobile radio service/app.

I'm an OTR (truck) driver and discovered that most of the trucks operated by the company I recently transferred to either do not have AM/FM antennas or the radio is no longer attached to the antenna, meaning that, effectively, we do not have AM/FM radio in the truck (which I'm in 24/7 and am driving 11-14 hours/day)...

If I was assigned a truck on a permanent basis, I would pay to install a good radio in it but, due to the age of the trucks, the company sends the trucks in for service/preventive-maintenance after each cross-country trip, placing the driver in a different truck.

Furthermore, I have yet to invest in a 'smart-phone' and still use an old 'flip-phone'...

Would it be more economical to invest in a smartphone and get radio through an app, like Pandora, or IHeartRadio, or would I be better off using a satellite-radio system like XM???

Having never used either of these systems, would either of them allow me to tune to the same channel (the EIB network for example) as I cross the country instead of having to 'chase' a radio program through multiple channels as I drive?

Since I will depart this area and loose WiFi as soon as I am assigned a load, I may not read or respond to this question right away, but I will read your responses as soon a I can and will respond hen I have access to WiFi...

Satellite radio is pretty awesome, but you do have to pay monthly I think
