My TV Couple Wish List

Just to be a little more specific about what I'm covering here...This list is about TV couples that may or may not have been paired onscreen, but were never really brought to fruition. Some of these characters never actually got together onscreen but I sensed a chemistry between the characters. Or they got together briefly and were broken up for storyline reasons or because one of the actors might have left the show. Some of the couples here I considered endgames/soulmates and wanted to see them together forever. Other couples I just wanted to see them hit the sheets just once and get it out of their system...sometimes characters project a sexual tension that needs to be addressed. I will be addressing couples on shows that are no longer on the air as well as shows that are still on the air that have couples I would like to get together. Any questions? The relationships in Friends weren't that important to me, i think i disliked some of the relationships but there were none that i actually cared about. The Ross and Rachel thing was annoying of course, those are my two least favourite characters and i just felt like they should either stick them together or just drop the storylines between the two. Chandler and Monica would have been better appearing nearer the end if at all as well, the first four seasons Joey and Chandler relationship was the best thing the show ever did and that kind of cut it short.

Janet Jackson was only on the show for a single season as Cleo, but the show missed a real opportunity pairing her with Leroy (Gene Anthony Ray)...during the season they were on the show together, I don't think these two did two scenes together.

Will Truman and Vince D'Angelo, Will & Grace

Will (Eric McCormack) and Vince (Bobby Cannavale) met in court when Vince wrote Karen (Megan Mullally) a ticket and Will defended her. The chemistry between these two was off the charts but they were abruptly broken up by Vince losing his mind when he lost his job...I always assumed Cannavale didn't want to make a long term commitment to the show and wanted out, but I LOVED these two together.

Danny (Ricky Shcroeder) became partners with Andy Sipowicz (Dennis Franz) after the death of Bobby Simone (Jimmy Smits) and found himself working very closely with Bobby's widow, Diane. Nothing happened between these two, but there was definitely chemistry there.

Simon Adebisi (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) was the charismatic leader of the black inmates in Oz and Kenny (J.D. Williams) was one of his most loyal soldiers. Simon, a known homosexual inmate, who had raped several inmates during the run of the show, including mob kingpin son Peter Schibetta (Eddie Malvarca) was attracted to Kenny from the moment he arrived in Oz but for some reason, never laid a hand on Kenny, who made it clear that he was straight, but this was the first time we had seen anyone tell Simon no before, he usually just "took" who he wanted without waiting for permission and this caused a lot of tension between him and Kenny, maybe if he had just taken Kenny from jump, a lot of that tension would have been resolved.

Alex (Justin Chambers) and Addison (Kate Walsh) had sex once...it was in a hospital supply closet and it was one of the hottest sex scenes I have ever seen on television...but that was it, no relationship was pursued, the supply closet was never talked about and pretty soon Addison was spun off into her own show called Private Practice.

Chris Keller and Sister Pete, OZ

Chris (Christopher Meloni) was bisexual but in denial about it, despite his toxic on again off again relationship with Tobias Beecher (Lee Tergesen), but when Chris began therapy with Sister Pete (Rita Moreno), there was an undeniable sexual tension between these two characters that the writers chose not to explore fully...I really wanted to see these two hit the sheets just once and see how it would affect Chris' relationship with Tobias, not to mention how it would affect Sister Pete's entire calling...pairing these two just once could have been the springboard for a bold and complex storyline that would have had viewers on the edge of their seats.

Jeremy (Ron Gabel) was the spoiled heir apparent of the wealthy Darling family and Lisa (Zoe McLellan) was the wife of Darling family attorney Nick George (Peter Krause), who Nick often neglected cleaning up Darling family messes. Jeremy picked up on the neglect and started sniffing after Lisa, even tried to buy her love by buying an art gallery for her, but the pairing was halted abruptly for no apparent reason, but every moment these two spent onscreen together was smoking hot.

Yes, I loved Fred but I liked Gary more...Gary (Brian Kerwin) met Jackie (Laurie Metcalf) during the brief period when she was a cop...they had mad sexual chemistry but Gary couldn't handle Jackie being a cop and when she got injured in the line of duty ( she fell down a flight of stairs) and refused to quit, she and Gary broke up, even though Jackie quit anyway. A great couple that broke up for a really stupid reason.

Dave (Fred Dryer) was an arrogant sportscaster and old freiend/rival of Sam Malone (Ted Danson) who every time he stopped in the bar tried to hit on Diane (Shelley Long), but she wanted nothing to do with him, but it might have been interesting to see these two together, to see if Dave could get Diane to stop talking for five minutes and get Sam jealous.

That's an odd pick. I really don't see how they could have put those two together, or that they ever gave any indication that they were thinking about it. Don't think it would have been particularly interesting either since Dave wasn't very interesting.

I only watched this show for about a season and a half, but even I saw the chemistry between Kate (Evangeline Lilly) and Sawyer (Josh Holloway) was off the charts. The show seemed to want Kate with Jack (Matthew Fox), but Kate and Sawyer supplied the real heat.

Yeah they were together. Both of them were obviously closed off and weird about that sort of stuff which was what attracted them to each other, so it wasn't something they talked about all the time but they were together. In Season 3 they have sex in the cage and they tell each other they love each other. They are kind of on and off after that until the end of Season 4 when they properly finish.

Also the best pairing in the show was the Hurley-Jin bromance that one episode :D

I loved these two together...Oscar winner Sean Penn played a teacher who was obsessed with Phoebe's twin sister, Ursula who, after breaking up with her, met Phoebe but just couldn't reconcile the fact that Phoebe wasn't Ursula and that she wasn't going to mess with his head the way Ursula did. I think if Eric had met Phoebe first and had never met Ursula, they could have been very happy together,

Krystle (Linda Evans) was always more of a trophy to Blake (John Forsythe). but Matthew (Bo Hopkins) was truly in love with Krystle, despite being married to the mentally unbalanced Claudia (Pamela Bellwood). who would eventually end up with Blake's son, Steven, but by that time it was too late for Krystle and Matthew.

Penn was good in that episode with Phoebe i agree. I've always really loved the part where he makes a really crappy joke that was barely even a joke and Phoebe cracks up .

Denise (Lisa Bonet) tried to keep David (Kristoff St. John) a secret from Cliff (Bill Cosby) but once he found out about him, Denise was forced to bring him to dinner where he got under both Cliff and Claire's skin by making light of their professions and eventually pissing Denise off too with sexist behavior, but there was a definite chemistry here.

I agree 100% about Jackie and Gary. He was easily the nicest guy that she dated, and I thought they could have been very happy together. It was so dumb that they broke up for such a stupid reason.

Ann Romano and David Kane is another couple who I thought broke up for a dumb reason. If I remember correctly, he was offered a great job in California, and he proposed to her, but she didn't want to move, so she turned him down. Then he decided to turn down the job offer and stay with her, but she told him that he was too young for her, so he took the job and left.

They seemed very happy together, but he seemed to love her more than she loved him. Regardless, I think she would have been happier with him than she was without him.

I never even thought about Colonel Flagg and Margaret Houlihan getting together, but he was one of my favorite characters on the show. I would have loved it if they had made him a regular on the show, and it certainly would have been interesting to see these two people get together.

George (TR Knight) pretty much crushed on Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) from the moment he laid eyes on her, but Meredith only had eyes for Derek (Patrick Dempsey). George would have treated Meredith like a queen and a relationship between them would have been pretty drama-free and maybe that's why it never happened.

Don't let this picture confuse you...Santana (Naya Rivera) was in love with Brittney (Heather Morris) and Blaine (Darren Criss) was in love with Kurt, but I always thought Santana and Blaine would have been kind of hot together.

I always thought these two would have been a lot of fun together...Miller (Christopher Rich) made Corky (Faith Ford) look like Barbara Walters, though I think Miller's ego would have gotten to Corky eventually, I think they might have been fun together for awhile. Corky and eventual husband Will Forest (Scott Bryce) were beyond dull together.

TPTB at New Girl really dropped the ball with this one...Schmidt (Max Greenfield) had long prided himself on being such a stud with the ladies but Elizabeth (Merrit Wever) put a stop to all that because Elizabeth knew Schmidt when he was fat and she knew exactly how to push the buttons that brought out that insecure fat kid and didn't treat him any differently when he got skinny; unfortunately, the same can't be said for Schmidt and Elizabeth dumped him.

This was a pairing I didn't see coming at all, but I absolutely loved it and was upset when it was dropped after a few episodes. Ben (the late Gregory Hines), Will's boss, hired Grace (Debra Messing) to redecorate his apartment, he hated it, refused to pay, Grace decided to sue him and by the end of the episode they had sex. Not exactly sure why they broke these two up, but they had MAD chemistry.

Long before Will (Eric McCormack) met Vince and before Patrick Dempsey became "McDreamy", there was Matthew. Jack (Sean Hayes) originally crushed on Matthew when he started shopping at the Banana Republic when Jack was working there. He appeared to be on the mend, but had a major setback causing Cristina (Sandra Oh) to perform surgery and not knowing it was Henry she was operating on. Henry passed away, causing a major rift between Teddy and Cristina.

God, I loved these two together...Kandi (April Bowlby) first came on the show as a love interest for Charlie (Charlie Sheen), but she ended up in Alan's bed later and actually had a much healthier relationship with Alan than she did with Charlie...it was fun seeing a genuine babe show an interest in Alan, who she actually married until she became a TV star and decided she didn't need him anymore...kept hoping that Kandi's show would get cancelled and she would come back to Alan.

The writing team on this show is usually pretty sharp, but they really dropped the ball here...the so-called "romance" between these two came out of nowhere...it was like one episode they were co-workers and the next they were in bed together and then it wasn't even hinted at again until Nick (Danny Pino) got suspended. If they had written a proper relationship for Nick and Amanda (Kelli Giddish), this could have been a great coupling, because there was chemistry there but the writers apparently didn't have time to give it the attention it deserved.

I've never been able to stand Jenny McCarthy, but this role was a great fit for her...Courtney was the daughter of the con man (Robert Wagner) who was dating Charlie's mother, Evelyn (Holland Taylor). Courtney was a con too and saw dollar signs every time she looked at Charlie, but the sexual heat was there too and I like to think that even if Charlie had lost every penny he had, he and Courtney still could have made things work, but I'd probably be wrong.

I don't think a lot of people saw this one coming, but I think it really worked...Richard (Tom Selleck) was the Geller family dentist who took care of Monica's teeth when she was a kid...a family event reunited them many years later and relationship developed that really worked until the deal breaker that broke them up...Monica wanted children and Dr. Richard didn't want anymore.

Barry (Dan Futterman) was a cousin of Karen (Megan Mullally) who had just come out of the closet, was overweight and knew nothing about the being gay. Karen paid Will (Eric McCormack) and Jack (Sean Hayes) to turn Barry into a marketable gay male. Will and Jack turned the ugly duckling into a swan and he originally hooked up with Jack, but Will stopped being in denial about being attracted to Barry and literally took Barry away from Jack. They dated briefly, but then, Barry's inner beauty also conjured up his inner ego and he decided he was too pretty to stay with Will and wanted to play the field. I loved the brief time that these two were together and I hate that they broke them up by turning Barry into a jerk because he was so sweet when he first came on the show, a real missed opportunity here.

This one was so wrong on so many levels...she was married and he was in high school, but the chemistry between Gabrielle (Eva Longoria) and John (Jesse Metcalfe) was off the charts. Gabrielle was so desperate to keep this affair going that once, when John neglected his lawn duties in order to service Gabrielle, she snuck out of an evening with her husband to go home and mown the lawn in her evening gown so that Carlos (Ricardo Antonio Chavira) wouldn't know what was going on.

This was easily my favorite relationship that Grace had...Debra Messing and Woody Harrelson had mad chemistry and the character of Nathan was so cool and fun...it took a minute for him to win over Will (Eric McCormack), but once he did, they were buddies. Karen (Megan Mullally) and Jack (Sean Hayes) both wanted to have sex with him and made no bones about it in front of Grace. I also liked the fact that Nathan didn't have a homophobic bone in his body...there was an episode where Jack, Will, and Nathan got drunk together that I was sure was going to turn into a threesome, but alas...

When we first met Niles (David Hyde Pierce) he was still married to Maris (a character we never met), but found himself drawn to Daphne (Jane Leeves) who was a physical therapist for Niles' father, Martin (John Mahoney). Roz (Peri Gilpin) was the producer on Frasier's radio show. Niles and Roz had a severe hate/hate relationship from the moment they met but I always saw an attraction here...this is another couple I would have loved to seen wake up next to each other after a drunken party and realize they had sex, then realize what a mistake it was...or was it? Niles and Daphne were a crashing bore, but these two together would have had an undeniable spark.

The definitive "opposites attract" couple...Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Aiden (John Corbett) had absolutely NOTHING in common, but they did have sexual heat and I think eventually found love and I have to admit I'm still not sure why they broke up, but I remember my heart breaking when they ran into each other on the street a year after their breakup and Aiden was carrying a baby...his baby that he had with his wife. I really thought these two were going to make it.

If it happens, this one's not happening anytime soon...this past season ended with CeCe (Hannah Simone) finally marrying Schmidt (Max Greenfield), but Schmidt is a nutcase and he is going to screw this marriage up somehow and hopefully Coach (Damon Wayans Jr.) will be there to pick up the pieces...Coach has been alone since returning from New York and this man is too fine to be alone.

For those who have been following my threads on a regular basis, you already know my feelings about these two but I will say it again for the uninitiated...greatest example of sexual tension between two television characters EVER! They were initially just employee and employer but things began to change after an episode where Tony (Tony Danza) caught Angela (Judith Light) coming out of the shower naked...nothing was ever the same between these two and as much as they tried to fight it, they admitted to loving each other and even got engaged, but they never did the deed.

OK, this one is a little complicated...Elliott (Christopher Meloni) and Olivia (Mariska Hargitay) were police detectives and partners for over a decade and, of course, police officers becoming romantically involved was forbidden and the work was a lot more important to them so they buried their feelings, even if they were in denial about them being there. Anyone who watches the show knows that the chemistry between the two actors could not be denied, but one thing I always loved about this show is that Elliott and Olivia never crossed that line, no matter how much I wanted them to. Of course, the fact that Elliott was married and the father of four children was a factor here, but even Elliott's wife, Kathy (Isabel Gilles) was suspicious about the relationship between her husband and Olivia, which resulted in a separation that tore Elliott apart. Olivia completely respected Elliott's marriage and respected the work she and Elliott did together even more, but I don't know...it could have made a really interesting story arc if Elliott and Olivia had been in some kind of dangerous situation and thought they were going to die and gave into their desires...just once.

Alicia (Julianna Margulies) and Will (Josh Charles) went to law school in Georgetown together but didn't see each other for years. Alicia married and had children but her husband Peter (Chris Noth) cheated on Alicia and ended up in jail, which forced Alicia to return to work and she ended up at Will's firm...they fought their attraction, but Peter eventually got out of jail but his troubles continued and a window of opportunity occurred where Alicia and Will might be able to be together...it came in the form of a voice mail that Will left for Alicia, but Eli Gold (Alan Cumming), Peter's campaign manager erased it and, as anyone who watched the show knows, eventually Will and Alicia's chance to be together was terminated...permanently. But these two brought the heat.
